What does everyone think of them dropping Rok to 19? While its cool they are looking at making him cheaper I can't help feeling like "we are the faction with the least heavies and now we don't even have one over 20 points?" I guess we have the most gargatuans but those aren't really cost effective($$) to have all of.

Although frost hammer with dark power seems pretty good, her spell list doesn't WOW me. Maybe a cloud wall with Shamans? Pretty good feat although I'm not a huge fan of the "ending their activations" part. Can't wait to have a cavalry unit attack something and then reposition outside her feat lol.

You said a phrase there... "double sprays are a thing if you understand bulldoze." It occurred to me at that moment that maybe I don't well enough. Can you break that down for me. I'm guessing because you can pile up opponents models and hit more of them.

I'm liking the slag trolls in Mark3. Not having two shots and no animus to speak of blows but I've found them useful in every game I've played. I'm really liking the idea of running two earthborns lately too. They are just so tough and with the changes to terrain rules, its much easier to use their abilities. They definitely need something to offset their pillow fists but they do good work.

Yes but how much of the troll's current performance is players shying away from them because they are so run down on the web? I feel like we have 5-6 casters that I feel are very competitive and several more that have very good matchups. I've found that several of our maligned light beasts have been successful for me on the table. We have good heavies(even though there aren't many to choose from). We have amazing support pieces and 1 or 2 extremely good units(warders and fennblades are still some of the best units in the game to me). We need to break the group think that PoD is the only way to play and try new things. I avoided Bearka for months because everyone just constantly ran him down but when I finally put him on the table (with several list builds including a variety of elemental lights) he actually really surprised me. Sure he has his weaknesses and limitations but his spell list and feat are still quite effective if you know how to use him. And this was against several players running their tournament lists for practice and I didn't get any clearly one sided matchups in my favor.

I choose Horgle, Madrak2, and Doomshaper2.

I like longriders for the self sufficient piece. They aren't the best cavalry around anymore but they are tough and can hold a zone with careful positioning for several turns. They don't out threat a lot of things but can usually take a punch and then jam well enough for the rest of your army to complete its objective and then come to help. Really wish they still had two inch reach though.

I have not played him in Mark3 but a friend at the LGS has run him with a MK and a WW to some success. Pretty much pure assassination list that uses a variety of knockdowns and such(he had a thumper and impaler as well I think) to setup the kill.

I have been running him in POD with a variety of lights and loving it! I really like the flexibility with all the animi and separate abilities. Our lights really do have some cool abilities, there just aren't any you can spam to an autowin and I think that turns people off. But in my games they really held their own and with Rok to follow up and make them hit above their weight class I was able to counter a variety of list types.

I attempted to use long riders in a BoHs list with Madrak3 and they were ok. The problem is that they are too damn slow for cavalry. They are pretty decent at getting in the way and surviving but almost everything outthreats them. Anything you can put on them to make them faster will just make fennblades even faster. If they still had 2 inch reach that would be something but dropping it down to 1 was harsh. They are still awesome models and fun to move around the table, they just aren't going to get work done like they used to.

That's part of my problem with the sorcerer. He is a great little 3 point module but his options for attachment are very few. Outside of fennblades(because I never EVER want crippling grasp on them!) I don't really know where to put him. But I can say every time I've gotten him on the table he's done something useful.

Doomie1. I just can't really figure him out. He has some cool tricks but I always seem to get him dead before I can use them.

Did I miss something? Can you put a sorcerer with FEs now? Thought it had to be a medium based unit?

At the end of the day, I firmly believe that a player's comfort level and experience with a certain set of models will overcome most shortcomings a list may have points wise. Obviously it can still be a bit of an uphill battle if you solely pick models because you like them but I really think this game is balanced enough that strategy and a cool head can make a supreme difference in tournament games(pressure situations). If you're playing casual then who the hell cares! Play what you like!
