Dahlia with Grim1 is really good.
I've run Calandra with Dahlia, Wrong Eye, and Brun to pretty good effect. Through in some highwaymen and befuddle becomes a premo spell!

They can still do their job of being a tough screen of cheap infantry. I really liked them with Madrak3 as they ate up a lot of attacks and gave me great board presence. And I still had fun with the Cabers even though they are not as good as they once were. I really miss their prayers but they got some neat tricks in return. I have only really played 75 point games so I usually have room for one tar pit unit and they do it well.

Does anyone else almost feel like the chain attack is a hindrance? I kept getting into situations where I couldn't hit the same model with all my attacks because it would mean killing my own models. Just kind of a headache.

I would say Grim2 is our best ranged caster. Mortality is amazing and his feat turns our ranged options up to a respectable level. Gunnbjorn is probably second. Snipe is awesome and his wall is great for control. His feat can be hit or miss. Calandra is a good all around caster. She has strong control aspects and can skew dice to the extreme.

Wow! Thanks for the reply. I totally agree with your points and it does seem like a super amazing model in a vacuum. By that I mean it seems great until you compare it to a bomber and then you start wondering. I think it would be a lot easier to fit it in if I was seeing more infantry in the local meta as well. While it mulches infantry it doesn't have the volume of attacks to take on Jack/Beast spam. You did kind of skip over its defensive tech though. With the added boxes and any support to its armor(stone, horgle, etc) it can hold a zone pretty solidly and cannot be removed easily.

Has anyone run one in the new edition? I did in one game and it didn't do a whole lot but take up space. The additional durability is kind of nice but its sooooo expensive. I really want to play mine, I just never seem to have the points to fit it in.

Yeah I tend to stick to mostly support solos. I'll use the Kithkar once in a while because he can hide behind the other infantry and is fairly hardy but often once the opponent knows what he is he gets shot right quick. I used to use the Totem Hunter, Maximus and Gudrun in MKII but haven't got them out yet in this addition. They were so hit or miss it was hard to justify them in non-casual games. One game they would kill a bunch of stuff and get twice their points back and the next they would do nothing. I think the key though as mentioned is having a list that brings the chances of them "doing their jobs" up as much as possible.

It does work on ranged attacks. 5 boosted attacks is cool if you are trying to break medium armor with a bunch of boxes which I usually don't have a huge problem with. 4 dice on a pow 19 will crack anything. I haven't really run the numbers so maybe it evens out, especially on slags.

I've never been one to overuse any one model/unit, even if they are the current hotness. I've had fun with them but I've continued to use sword/storm knights, blazers, Boomhowlers, and many of the other sub-optimals.

Yeah I think I learned that. Definitely missed the runebearer. I was only running the pyres cause I had them and it seemed thematic.
I didn't notice his feat says boosted. That actually makes it really mediocre in my mind. Really takes the punch out of the feat. Usually what you need on boosted attack roles on is dead by whatever set it on fire and only boosting attach roles is not a great armor cracking increase. Good thing his spell list is pretty awesome.

So going to be running The Anvil tonight for the first time tonight. My list:
Horgle 3x Pyre 2x Bomber Whelps Krielstone SSE Fennblades Officer Sorcerer
I made this list mostly because i have 3 pyres I've been dying to get on the table since EE but it got me to wondering. Does Horgle need a runebearer? I was curious to hear people's thoughts on him in general as well. I've heard he's one of the strongest warlocks in TB now. Does the community agree?
