So with the gravediggers CID coming to a close, who are the casters that you guys are finding a good fit? All of my initial list building leads me to believe that it's very much an anti-infantry theme, in a meta where armor cracking is still pretty necessary. Obviously Haley3, but anyone else?

Okay, if I get a willing opponent I'll probably play Haley3 in Gravediggers tonight. I'll post the results. Youh Shall be dooingk no such thing! Arrest dat men! Its Blueh, Guyh Disguised as Me, Strieker! It haz been found out that Blue Guyh is a Khadoran Spy sent buye de empress! On a more tactical note, what kind of trench templates exist? And how could one connect to another. Is there a "Joint" Trench? Short answer, yes: privateerpress.com/warmachine/gallery/accessories/battlefield-accessory-forward-trenchesI doubt that the joiners would count "legally" as templates, but for aesthetics, i'm hoping people won't mind.

Has anyone done the actual math between Caine vs. Sloan regarding damage output on similar lists? I'd imagine that the damage is about the same, since Sloan is doubling up on the number of shots that she's putting out, but that's all speculation. You make a good point about very high def models... and yes, the list is quite dice dependent on hitting.
That being said, how do we think she'll fare in SR2017? Seems like gunline/attrition lists will have a bit of an advantage overall, and at least for the games that I've played, I haven't noticed that the middle LOS blocking terrain has hurt too much (I think because my local store was playing it that way anyway).

Just a general discussion thread on Kara Sloan: How are people building her these days? Heavy Metal? Out of theme? How is she doing in the meta?
What do people typically build her to answer? Or does she only "ask" can you survive all the guns?New to the faction, not the game, but I'm not really sure how to approach her without defaulting to hunter shenanigans, and gunline lists aren't really something I'm used to coming from Trolls. Are there any tips/tricks that might not be immediately apparent to a new player, or should I just hope to shoot enough off the table before engagement to make attrition easy? Here's what I'm planning on playing this week: conflictchamber.com/#c1201b_-0n9a9E9E9k9kc0akazanaj9bCygnar Army - 74 / 75 points [Theme] Heavy Metal (Sloan 1) Captain Kara Sloan [+28] - Defender [16] - Defender [16] - Hunter [11] - Hunter [11] - Stormwall [39] - Squire [0(5)] Archduke Alain Runewood, Lord of Fharin [0(4)] Captain Arlan Strangewayes [0(4)] Journeyman Warcaster [0(4)] - Charger [9]

Holy crap, nobody else here thinks that the War Wagon is insanely strong now? Negates tough, since auto KD, pseudo-trample, and infinite amounts of impact attacks? Goodbye infantry... not that I'm complaining. At this point, I'd definitely consider taking the war wagon. It's one hell of a piece.

Awesome reply, thanks very much! I really enjoyed reading your article, I don't think I ever even realized that Jack Marshal's had abilities like "Strike True" or "Crush", side effect of playing Trolls for so long. I'm definitely impressed by the module, and will be using it.
Building out some test lists, I'm also feeling the need for a lancer. It seems like thorn's essential in most non-themed lists, while I take the lancer in most other applications? I'm also pretty damn flabbergasted at the number of build options and choices you Cygnar players are able to make. It seems like plenty of Cygnar casters have multiple loadouts for different win conditions, aka building out the same caster for assassination, or scenario, or attriion.
Stryker2's the reason that I decided to buy into Cygnar, so I'll definitely be giving both of your lists a try! Seems like a more aggressive, better Madrak2. When thinking of a pairing to go with him, what kind of holes do I need to fill? Or is he usually the "2nd" list in a pairing? I've been eyeing Haley 2/3, but I'm not entirely sure what their win condition is. Does Haley 2 basically play attrition with her timewalk? How about Haley 3?
Apologies for the flood of questions, there just doesn't seem to be many resources out there for newbies to the faction anymore. Thanks!

So I've just come into a great deal on a Cygnar lot, and have no idea what to do with it! With the PP faction forums going down, there's not much left to read up on things anymore. Can anyone point me in the direction of a decent starting guide?
Alternatively, I'd love to hear some suggestions on where to go from here, or what to build out my warjacks as. I'm an old Trollblood/Merc player without Cygnar in the meta, so a 2 list pairing to really get a feeling for what the faction has to offer would be greatly appreciated.
I have: Haley 1/2/3 Caine 1/2 Stryker 2/3 Sloan Nemo 3
Ol' Rowdy Thorn Stormwall Stormclad Kits x2 Defenders x2 Cyclone Ironclad Hunter x2 Firefly x3 Charger x2
Jr. Stormblade Captain Squire Strangeways Gun Mage Captain Adept Laddermore Murdoc Finn
Rangers Blazers Stormlances x2 Trenchers + CA/WA
and various mercs/minions to fill.

Congrats on placing, Mark!
I was very glad to see Trolls qualify for Masters, and am glad to have seen you representing the Kriels. All that being said, qualifying for masters, and placing in masters are two very different things. With a little bit of luck (and skill of course, not trying to take away from your achievement), anyone can squeeze into the top 16. What trollsareblue said might have been a little harsh, but you were knocked out of the top 16 pretty fast, and brought a pairing with two PoD lists in it. For context, some of what I'm saying here is based on some of the conversation you had on the Facebook group, but I find this forum to be a little better for meaningful discussion.
I'd hate for the "proof" of Trollbloods validity to be a masters qualification at a small convention as the deciding factor on PP's outlook on the Trollblood faction. Putting blame on faction players in an argument that is basically "git gud scrub" isn't helping anyone at all. Your lists consist almost completely of the same small handful of models that every other trollblood player is taking, with the exception of Grim1. Trolls are incredibly bland, and the 2 list PoD pairing just goes further to prove it. You're correct that our roster of casters that are "playable" are deep, but the variety of models we're taking them always consist of some combination of Mauler/Bomber/MK/stone.

It's damn quiet in this sub!
What does everyone think of the core box so far? How are you going to expand on it, and what are you planning on pairing it with?
I'm thinking about pairing it with either the Child or the Dreamer on aesthetics alone, but am leaning towards the dreamer since she'll have more of an overlap with what's already in the box.
50 points is with Bump in the Night, and includes:
Grymkin Army - 50 / 50 points
[Theme] Bump in the Night
(Heretic 1) The Heretic [+28]
- Cage Rager [14]
- Gorehound [6]
- Skin & Moans [15]
Lord Longfellow [0(6)]
Witchwood [0(5)]
Dread Rots (max) [12]
Hollowmen (max) [13]
- Lantern Man [3]
Piggybacks (max) [15]
I'll probably take the list and add a glimmer imp, neigh slayers, and a death knell to get me to 75
Grymkin Army - 75 / 75 points

(Heretic 1) The Heretic [+28]

unpacking was rough. I lead with the benders and followed with the slaves. the benders are super solid and flexible. the slaves are pretty lackluster outside of the ambushing unit. I feel that if i had a dominated ranged unit i could have killed pMakeda. I am going to try this next: You're going to want to lead with the slavers, and folllow with the benders. The benders are where the real money is at, with their buffs and sprays and stuff. Slavers are really nothing more than cannon fodder.

Unofficially anyway. DGI has a picture up of what's in the box: Gunnbjorn Dozer & Smigg Mauler Bomber Highwaymen Braylen Krielstone Not a bad box at all imo. If I didn't already own most of these, it'd be an instant buy for me. Thoughts?

Doesn't it get really unwieldy to pack/unpack/move the 60 drudge list? Especially with Thexus who has no access to pathfinder. Just seems like a list that is susceptible to any kind of templates, be it covering fire, wall of fire, rough terrain guns, etc.
On an unrelated note, I got to play Thexus with a unit of Thorn Gun Mages and Aiyana and Holt last week. I'm loving this combo so far, it's one hell of a toolbox list, and black penny'ed pow 16's (+2 from Kiss of Lylyiss) on each of the TGM members is just so good for unjamming and even doing decent damage to Khador heavies. Would strongly recommend that people give them a try. I was skeptical at first, but I've seen the light.

It being on a 15 point model means that they shouldn't have to pay for it? That 15 point model is not only going to provide great support, but can also contest zones (incorporeal), and do a lot of damage itself. Not really something that can be said of the Krielstone, who is purely a support piece for 9-12 points. I'm sorry, but I really don't buy any of the "Krielstone is fine where it's at" arguments. What I can agree with you on is that the Cryx effect shouldn't be be touched at all. I don't think anyone's intent is for other factions to not get cool things. My belief is that a lot of the tension is from Troll models just not really being up to par. We deserve cool things too

Well, check this out. In the most recent CID update for the Death Knell:
Protective Aura replaced with Warmth of the Grave. Warmth of the Grave - While this model has one or more corpse tokens, friendly Faction models gain +2 ARM while within 4˝ of this model +1˝ for each corpse token on this model.
This reads to me as PP basically saying the Death Knell's aura was too weak at the start, since they couldn't have it on without requiring resources first. Which Trolls are currently struggling with atm.
The optimist in me says that Trolls might get a similar upgrade, but the realist notices that they didn't just change the Protective Aura wording...

That means that they do not cost 9 points, but 19-26 points. Everything that doesn't fit in themes at the moment is in a pretty bad spot sadly. Yeah, seems to be just about where all of the factions are having to make decisions now, unfortunately. My understanding is that PP is trying to balance the game around themes...how that will work out in practice has yet to be seen.
