Came here to say the exact same thing. Skarre 3 looks as big as the hooch hauler, if not bigger. How the hell did the HH end up coming in at 40 dollars more expensive?

Thanks for all of the awesome write-ups and paint logs all! I think it might be time to paint up a unit of whelps, and try out some of your skintones and leather recipes.
I'm currently painting up my Mountain King, so his loincloth will make a good opportunity to try a slew of leather options.
I'm really liking the look of the darker blue Trolls, and with the new Northkin releases, I suppose I have a solid reason to at least swap shades, if not color palettes...

Hey all!
I've been on a painting binge, and have been wanting to finish painting up some of my Trollbloods.
For some reason, Trolls have been one of those factions across all of my mini games that I've had trouble settling on a color palette for. Something about Trollblood blue clashing with all of the leathers, bags, tartans, and other "fantasy" materials. This is all magnified by the fact that I'm colorblind, and seem to have a hard time with complementary colors anyway.
So here's a formal request for some pics of your trolls, and general recipes + schemes for more common "materials".
Please share those beauties!

At work, so no war room, but my list essentially is: Madrak Runebearer Mauler Bomber Max kriel stone + stone scribe ua Max kriel warriors Max champs + skaldi Max champs Min warders Fell caller Eilish If you're interested in the bearka list, I posted it prior to lvo in the right to bear arms thread. Any chance you can go over some of your games, as well as some battle reports from your successes at the LVO? Congrats on the 3rd place win! I'm running basically the same pairing as you, and I'd love to hear more about the strengths/weaknesses.

I heard about this, but I'm still not entirely sure that it's going to change much... the HHH still works best in a SotN list, since it has so many synergies with other models in theme...there just aren't enough Northkin models to benefit from this...maybe a Glacier King? But at that point, why not just take it in SotN? Interested to hear what others think. Edit: Just realized Northkin Raiders are also "ranged" units...so boosted RNG12 (Snipe) shots, or def debuffs from either of the grims could be great...hmmm, will have to experiment with this more. I honestly don't think that it will make a difference whether it is included in KC or not. The problem with that theme is the sub par ranged units and no access to anything that can crack armour in melee outside of a gargantuan. The HHH does not address either of these problems. Eh...that's fair. Trying to build out a quick list on conflictchamber, there wasn't much that I didn't already have access to in SotN.

FWIW, Hooch Hauler will be added to the Kriel Company Theme per Privateer Press' Twitter. I heard about this, but I'm still not entirely sure that it's going to change much... the HHH still works best in a SotN list, since it has so many synergies with other models in theme...there just aren't enough Northkin models to benefit from this...maybe a Glacier King? Edit: Just realized Northkin Raiders are also "ranged" units...so boosted RNG12 (Snipe) shots with Oil hitting at a possible POW14 RAT6 with Grim2...hmmm, will have to experiment with this more.

I also had a chance to play him this weekend at a tournament (albeit poorly). It's ridiculous how much personal output he can put out, especially with a Northkin Elder on deck. With SR2017 typically having LOS blocking terrain in the middle of the board (and that consisting of forests half the time), I was able to just absolutely own the middle of the board without fear of dying. Being able to walk 8" through forests, punch things on the other side, and then repo 3" back just feels great.
Highlight of the weekend was Borka just about 1 rounding a colossal (Prime Axiom). I think Borka2's quickly becoming my favorite caster, and I really want to start carving out his niche in a 2 list pairing.
What are you guys seeing as his main strength? Just existing as an extra Heavy? I typically look at casters as "questions" or "answers", but I'm not really sure that he truly fits either of these roles.

Hey Tim, assuming you're bringing this kind of list to a local Steamroller, is this a pairing you would keep? What are the "bad" matchups for this pairing?
I'm currently working on a way to make these two casters my pairing as well, but I feel like both lists fall short to any really shooty lists. I definitely need more reps, but from what i've already seen, real shooty lists have no issue with DEF, concealment, or Stealth.

Played a few games over the weekend as well, and I'm finding pretty much exactly what others are saying. The Bears are good enough on their own, but unsupported without a guaranteed charge, they're too expensive of a unit to just be throwing away. Having them AD and have access to the stone's +2STR or +1SPD just feels better for me, especially if I'm playing with Borka2 to grant stealth to deliver them.
FWIW, I ended up ambushing them for both of my games this weekend. They fell short in effectiveness vs. a Midas + Brigands list (too many bodies to chew through), but did a fair amount of work on Orion + Assimilators.

Woooo, just what I was looking for! Glad to see you on the Troll forums. So to kick it off... what made you decide to play a PoD brick with Borka2, rather than someone like Doomy2/Doomy3/Kolgrimma, who handle similar matchups?
Your Facebook comments state that Nemo3 was a big reason for the selection, but the 1 round of stealth seems to provide fairly similar results as D3's healing capabilities.
Glad to see Borka2 finally getting some love, way to represent the Trolls!

Reposting this from the Arcane Assist FB page, where Tim Banky talks about his Madrak1 / Borka2 pairing.
I am surprised that he decided to go the Borka2 route, instead of someone like Doomy3, who I believe does the job as well, if not better as a PoD list. I'm hoping he turns up here in the forums somewhere so we can get some discussion going.

...I just read through Tim Banky's ATC discussion about his Bearka/Madrak pairing... Where did you read that? I'm going to go ahead and throw it into the Borka2 discussion thread, since it's relevant to the topic!

You know, I'm really surprised that I haven't seen much Wrongeye + Snapjaw in the list. It just seems to add that extra 'eff you' layer to the list. conflictchamber.com/#c7201b_-0a4N0r9Djq6G6MbF0k0miTbKiTcCTrollbloods Army - 75 / 75 points [Theme] Band of Heroes (Madrak 1) Madrak Ironhide, Thornwood Chieftain [+29] - Dire Troll Bomber [19] - Dire Troll Mauler [15] - Trollkin Runebearer [0(5)] Fell Caller Hero [0(5)] Stone Scribe Chronicler [4] Wrong Eye [17] Krielstone Bearer & Stone Scribes (min) [6] - Stone Scribe Elder [3] Trollkin Champions (max) [16] - Skaldi Bonehammer [5] Trollkin Champions (max) [16] - Trollkin Sorcerer (1) [3]

You know, now that the Basher is out, it might be worth proxying/practicing the swap of one of your maulers with 2 Bashers. Like you said, the addition of the Chiller Animus to your roster is a mat fix, and gives you two missiles that can still do reasonable damage at mat 8 pow 16 with primal that won't hurt to throw away. Not to mention the beat back/crit staggers on the counter charges. Just food for thought.
