I’m sure if u wanted to sell parts of it you’d get some good offers, otherwise if it’s not what u want, u could hope for another faction’s box to swap to,

Gotta be honest, Masters seems to have more attendees and focus than Champions. Maybe Ive missed a shift here, but even at cons ADR events seem lots less popular. IG is Champions, and for anyone that's hoping to qualify (or qualified) that's a powerful encouragement to picking a faction that has a decent champions roster. This right here is a great example of different styles from different players. If you’re playing Champions because u wanna compete in IG and you get a new army because u appear to have bad roster options...... well, that’s an event I’m happy to avoid. Ill never switch factions just cos someone else seems to have a better deal. Champions / ADR seems largely an opportunity for PP to test their material outside of a CID, to see how folks skew lists/factions/casters etc, to see what works in a different set of parameters. It is of course a different challenge for players too, to maybe play outside their comfort zone with sub-optimal options. That feels like it should be a fun event rather than a major international, but hey, peeps wanna win stuff (at all costs).

Do you think PP gave us Secret Masters along side DH to force us to learn how to play the theme? Folks have been playing Bones, Call and Tharn since the theme, but Wild Hunt and Secret Masters have not really seen much competitive play.

Baldur is generally better with a mixed list rather than so many Ravagers. He’s great, but the ones trying to make those Tough rolls will likely be up front, possibly even out of range of ur Shaman, trying to hold off ur opponent/ set up ur alpha. Though not designed for it; if u don’t need the speed Stone Skin on charging Ravagers means they can make a mess of a lot of jacks tho.
As Trollock says, u can tech DH against all but the heaviest of jack spam and even then u can jam it up enough to win on scenario with a mixed list. I would say that 1 unit of Ravagers is almost compulsory, but taking 2 (max str) massively depends on ur style/goals.

What he said. Theres potential for something truly awesome here, I’m excited to see your results and those of others... Also note with Sandstone, between the wider bands of darker material (which are usually sub-parallel as noted above) the internal pattern is of diagonal lines... u have to think of a dune (sand wave) progressing, with sand being blown over the crest and falling down the front again and again. In red sands (oxidised from aeolian/land sand) these diagonal will be steeper. In paler sands (often mixed with silt which bring brown into the mix, or with cream/white carbonates from sea life) they diagonals will be closer to horizontal. That maybe too much detail. (The geologist now shuts his face) The biggest thing with rock - well, just about any natural texture to he honest- is to not make everything too uniform. The patterning of the rock here is mostly straight and parallel, but if you look closely, the lines are often uneven, different thickness, even kind of jagged in spots...the left-most rock is close up so it is a good example of this. Don't be afraid to be a bit random! Note the one section in the middle where one of the layers actually ends in the middle in a point? Maybe throw in some that as well - though overusing where a lot of the layers are doing that might not work well either. One other trick is to imagine how the lines go through the rock. Your models will need to look like they were carved from this rock so the lines should be similar on the other side of arms, legs, etc - but with slight variations as the striations change throughout the rock. When I try any kind of natural texture, I also tend to spend a while just going through photos on the internet and studying the way the textures flow...check out a bunch of sandstone first in other words. Also be sure to look for images of carved sandstone as well. Spend some time looking at your models and imagining how those lines and patterns will apply to the carved stone pieces on it. I did something similar to this with a Circle battlebox - The armor bits were all made to look like they had inlaid green marble (though it the finished product looks more like jade to be honest). It was a fun exercise in painting. I found that these kinds of textures are generally less intimidating than they seem one you get started. Experiment, have fun with it! By all means post photos in the painting section when you are finished! I am sure that I am not the only one who would like to see the finished product:)

With AD 9 here we have a great selection of casters at our disposal: Iona, Krueger2, Wurmwood, Morv1 (3 of our best and a close follow up) Themes: Devourer Host, Secret Masters
It seems to me that we have amazing options for Dev Host and are being forced to use Secret Masters to push us out of the Bones / Host comfort bubble. This could be a great move to finally stop Female Doging about SM and force players to get imaginative and learn how to use it..... or at least get some decent data on Druid / Mist rider performance.
What are your thoughts on this? Will you be running double Dev Host or will you step out of the bubble?

That result doesn’t show that of 32 players only 2 very talented players ran Circle. They both placed well n even then from what I heard Bret just ran Iona in every game. How great is secret masters really?

Thanks erythro, there’s a few clubs closer that I’ve discovered since initial post. I struggle to build trust w new folk, but Hammer & Ales - Hucknall (Tuesday) and War & Peace - Beeston (Wednesday) are both closer and have a few players. There’s the Sanctuary in Sutton in Ashfield too, but not sure if anyone there still plays. It’s all new people which is a major issue, but then compared to subs and £7 fuel bill each week it’s steadily becoming for attractive to ditch Tuesdays.

Be warned, it feels like they’re starting by giving us all the toys n will shortly be taking many of those toys away.
I still don’t see LotF doing so much, esp now at 7pts. He’s basically the new place to put ur heart tokens that would’ve gone on Death Wolves before. I reckon he needs to be full of hearts to start to make him more survivable and more reliable at killing stuff. It’d be so sweet if he could Raven and Thresher, or regain reach 2”. Reach could make him a 7pt model.
There were so many cautions dropped in that Dev chat, that it makes me think they’re really not sure about what they’re pushing in this CID. We need LOADS of games n feedback to make this work properly. Wish I had access to a more experienced gaming group to do this properly

It was due to the wording “bring its target into melee range”, that suggested to me that the target wouldn’t have been in melee to begin with .... thenthe whole query between melee range vs engaging.
More specifically, if a model moves the minimum 3” and is still engaging the same model.. is that a charge with boosted damage roll? Eg vs a huge base? - it seems wrong to achieve boosted damage this way.
That n I’d got it in my head that in MkII u couldn’t charge if u were already engaged.

Odd charge scenario that isn’t clear from the rules wording. I have my opinion, but would like to hear if anyone has a firm ‘known’ answer (not just opinion).
Can a model charge an enemy that it is: a) already engaging? b) already engaged by? c) not engaging but is currently engaged by another?

You make Hybrid things through either: 1. Costing the unit according to its power at Range or melee, but not both 2. You make the unit powerful enough at both ranged and melee but not both 3. You allow the unit to effectively engage at both ranged and melee at once. They could give her Black Penny, so she can shoot into melee with him, but then he wouldn’t be able to move to engage something else ...... I don’t think Assault really fixes the issue either.
