So I was reading over the announcement about NQ, It's on the PP main page, and I noticed this
"Privateer Press will no longer publish supplemental books for WARMACHINE & HORDES, with the exception of a Force book each year corresponding to the annual release of a new Faction for the games."
Am I reading that wrong or does it say PP is planning to release a new faction every year?

No, that seems about right. Right before the Grymkin faction info was fully released, there were mentions that PP has had several factions in the works. I think it's fairly safe to say that Zu is next. They'll probably release several small factions like Grymkin and C.O.C. Seems Okay to me, as long as they fix up the original factions in between (which seems to be the idea).

That's going to be a lot of factions. I wonder how well they can keep that up while still putting out models for the regular factions. I also wonder how deep they're going to have to dig to come up with a new faction every year. Grymkin are already stretching the borders of the lore pretty hard to even exist as a faction.

Well, the factions may, or may nor be independent. They might just expand on a previous idea. Personally, I'd love to see a more fleshed out Cephalyx faction. Couple more units, casters, and monstrosities and we're there.
Other then that, Infernals, Orgoth, and maybe a new dragon faction could work (so long as it's different enough from Legion). The resistance of Llael could become a full faction. Ord could finally pull together an army, I know they have a powerful navy. In short, there are plenty of factions that can be made.
It's also a great way to expand the audiences that WMH can appeal to. The more different aesthetics, the more people can get into the game.
As for release schedule, I think PP is trying to round out important themes in the main factions (Trencher and Northkin releases), and then slowing the new releases of those factions. Then they can expand the game with new mini-factions, which will be easier to balance, and to keep balanced. I think it's a smart move, we'll see if they can pull it off.

They're going to have to either be really careful or expand considerably. The existing player base already loses their minds if their favorite faction goes to long without a new release. There's going to be a lot of salt if "things no one asked for" end up "pushing back" releases for the existing factions.

Yeah annual factions seems bonkers.
I wonder if the long term plan is to refactor the models some? Like instead of playing "Cygnar" you could be someone who just plays "<whatever the Trencher theme is called>"? So you split out to a billion tiny factions instead of several huge factions?

Its incredibly dangerous move. But if they remain small scale and cautious about it....
Like another Cephalyx type deal could be no problem to me.

It has been confirmed by Will Pagani that indeed the release is worded correctly. More details during the LnL keynote.

What does "No longer publish supplemental books" mean? Aren't the new theme books 'supplementals'? Does this mean no factions are getting anymore releases?

Sounds like the CID and NQ will take the place of book releases we are used to.

So they're still following the theme list + some new releases for that theme list (IE: Gravediggers) formula, but it will just be in NQ?

Doesn't seem to be changing what will be released, as far as models and rules, just how the fluff for them is delivered. You should be relying on War Room or cards.privateerpress.com (whenever that becomes operational) for rules anyway.
