They're no longer doing theme books. All new models and themes will come out in the new No Quarters. Aaaaaaaaaaaand Convergence get screwed again. i honestly dont think CoC is getting anything anytime soon. some of that is PPs fault for not being clear what a limited faction meant. some of it lies on it being their first limited faction. some of it being players expecting new stuff based on the definition of a limited faction.

Convergence will probably get a structure. After all it'll be a big expensive thing they can sell.

Okay, cool. I read the insider, and the part at the end of that paragraph was what was missing: "Instead, all content committed to print for WARMACHINE & HORDES will be found within the pages of No Quarter Prime."
I was worried that PP was basically saying that the existing factions would no longer receive any new releases at all. That would be bad.

Oh no, if they stop working on the factions already present their playerbase is going to exodus so hard the Red Sea is going to part. I don't think they'd make a questionable decision of THAT magnitude.

Lmao they really don't want the company to win the war do they? They will get rekt on sales by GW and stomped by rules and models bloat.

I do gotta ask what the heck are they thinking? Probably that factions have become really bloated with models and rules. To fix that, they are breaking factions down into themes (Gravediggers, Northkin), and expanding WMH's breadth. Since factions will then be smaller, there will be less model interactions to account for, and it will be easier to balance. Also, by bringing in new aesthetic looks (Grymkin has a different and new look, like C.O.C did when released) they can expand their potential audience. Some people might prefer a Zu faction full of jungle cats and witch doctors over Circle's wolves and druids.

Some people might prefer a Zu faction full of jungle cats and witch doctors over Circle's wolves and druids. But the more factions there are the more stepping on feet there is. I hope it works out good, but I'm worried that this might cause a whole other bloat of its own.

I hope it works out good, but I'm worried that this might cause a whole other bloat of its own. It's risky, but I think it can work. We've seen C.O.C and Grymkin come out. They're different enough to work. PP just has to keep playing around with new ways to handle the resource systems of focus and fury, and feats, spells, animi, and the rest.

In retrospect, at least for Legion, it seems that this shift was sorta hinted at in the Mk3 command book. After the so called "Great Hunt," Everblight decided to splinter his forces and scatter them across the land to preserve his consciousness and athanc. Saeryn and Rhyas basically went rogue, Kallus set up shop in the East and Lylyth is still harrying the IK in westorn Immoren.
Perhaps these will become the bases of future theme lists/sub-factions.Ravens of war is basically Lylyth's skirmish force.
As for faction bloat, 40k seems to be doing okay with their dozens of factions, granted half of them are reskinned marines or humans with different armour/weapons. In WMH, I wouldn't mind seeing a combined Cygnar/Trollkin type theme/faction representing Cygnar loyalists within the Troll communities. I'd also like to see a return to mixed composition forces including mercenaries/minions. They were originally billed as guns for hire or auxiliary troops but now you never see them taken for that purpose outside a handful a select solos due to the shift toward themes-only and friendly-faction buffs.

Well if people are okay with factions that are never ever getting new releases it might work.

Still no Revelator.
Also, this could quickly mimic an issue seen during the champ roster expansion period of League of Legends. they dropped someone new every 2 weeks for months on end and most of them were bland, broken, or both: many had kits that remain problematic today.

So I don't mind new factions, and I would especially like it if they were "subfactions" (like the Trencher theme list is shaping up to be). But the way it is phrased, with a new faction every year, is exceptionally ambitious and makes me very hesitant.

It begs the question of if the idea of Grymkin invoked these responses? If it's like Grymkin, Convergence, and Cephalyx it should be no issue. We'd see new limited factions from time to time, but also things like Cephalyx where it's a whole new option. Hell, if it was a mercenary option, those models might be usable be mercs in general and not whatever faction arrived.
These reactions are well beyond Grymkin and the other factions are still getting a fair amount of new releases. It just happens to be focused on one month instead of over the year.
