I personally prefer more bodies with Stryker3. I like the idea of the Sword Knights in Heavy Metal, but it doesn't feel that great because they don't count toward points in the theme. I run him in Storm Division with a Strider, a min unit of Storm Lances, max Stormguard, max Silverline, Laddermore, Savio, Rhupert, Stormblade Captain Squire, Ironclad and Rowdy. The single wound infantry are definitely squishy, but they kill whatever they get to. In a tournament recently I played him 3 times. Sadly lost all three games, all into Skorne. First game was a stupid mistake to get assassinated by Thagrosh. He used his feat to jam me. With tactician and my feat, I killed Typhon, a Neraph, an Angelius, and heavily damaged a Scythean. I didn't repo with Stryker and was in range to get slip streamed and charged, hence the loss, but the attrition was heavily in my favor. Second game was against Rasheth Immortals. Breath of Corruption is not kind to this list, especially when the arc nodes just get revived by a Supreme Guardian. I managed to kill all three units of Immortals, but never got to the Guardian and lost on scenario with only a few models left. Third game was the closest game I've played in a long time. Into Mordikaar Immortals. Waited out the feat, used my objective + the Strider to kill one Void Spirit, Rhupert's tough saved my bacon for the second Void Spirit and let Stryker3 cast Arcane Bolt for probably the first time ever to kill it. After that we beat each other up, ended up Stryker3 and the Stormblade Captain against Mordikaar and two infantry models. Tied on Scenario turn 7 and he won on Army Points by 3. Sadly the pre-CID theme benefit of Death Rage actually won him the game. It allowed him two free attacks to let his Archidon kill Rhupert before dying and the Krea killed the last Silverline with it's Death Rage, which is what clenched the Army Point victory for him. While there are definitely drawbacks to two full units of Stormguard, the extra bodies really benefit from Fury and the Feat. While I did lose all three games, the only one that actually felt bad was against Rasheth. Otherwise I really like the list, and it definitely solves my frustration of not being able to do enough damage in melee. Sorry gotta be THAT guy, Thagrosh is not Skorne! ☻

I have found it rather amusing that in Mark2 if you were a Cygnar player you played mercs so much and in mark 3 I find my best merc lists are comprised largely of Cygnar models.

I'm surprised that Horgle comes up in the bottom 3. Solid ground is great for trolls and he's the only caster with an inherent armor buff that doesn't have "restrictions". His feat can be either great or meh but I feel like his total package is pretty solid.

Couldn't you bring your own bokur or a sentinel to steal the stagger shot off the colossal? Possibly, but you can't take Merc solos in Heavy Metal, you could take a Sentinel but at 8 points they are one of the most expensive dedicated shield guards in the game, especially as certain theme forces hand it out like candy. So you have an 8 point model to babysit your 39 point model, 47 points is pretty much half your list. Maybe a trench buster in GD? I just feel like if you are paying 39 points you can't afford to have it shut down/severely limited for a turn. A sentinel could probably do a little work against the gun bunnies and such so it wouldn't be completely useless

As a dwarf player I can say that Ossrum list has several vulnerabilities. Lack of damage or hit buff means that the list can't effectively dealt with high ARM or multibox models. The list folds very easily to AS buffed colossal (extremely high arm), Centurions (high arm) or light warjacks (box spam). The only way to lose to that list try to outshoot it or destroy it in melee with infantry. Doesn't a colossal just got staggered every turn? Yeah the Ossrum player has to chip away at it a bit, but your not doing much in return Couldn't you bring your own bokur or a sentinel to steal the stagger shot off the colossal?

Just hope you hit those rat 5 shots with the blitzer eh? Would he be rat 7 for all 3 shots if he sacrificed movement?

Best: Kolgrimma - Not broken but is the strongest denial caster which isn't super fun to play into.
Worst:
Madrak 3: close but not quite to being super viable and interesting Borka 1: They just made him incredibly boring in this edition Grissel 1: Making one model really good a turn doesn't do it for me and her feat is horrendous.

I like them with Horgle. Under IR/STONE and SG they are super painful to remove. Of course I use them to move the center of my line forward while others probably prefer to use them on the flank.

So I fear this may be a really stupid question but can a unit that has been given an order(aka shield wall) still make attacks? We have been thinking no in our GS but I'm thinking we may have gotten confused orders with *actions and the fact you can't give two orders on the same turn(i.e. shield wall and press forward).

I was wondering why no one runs Sylyss(sp?) with Haley3? Is there just too many other solos that people feel are autoinclude?

I think that I just had it in my head that GP was worded as separate attacks. Thanks!

FFE only works on the first groundpounder attack right? Since they are all separate attacks? It boosts all of them since it’s a single star attack. It’s the same for blast weapons. Well blast attacks are all part of one attack/attack roll. As is the pulse from TH or the flak field on the MM. Groundpounder says to make separate attack rolls on each which is why I thought it was considered separate attacks and FFE would not apply.
