Anyone had good usage from these guys? The models have been catching my eye for awhile! What about Horthol as well?

LR's 8 boxes, def 12 and arm 18 (20 under the stone) are a hard nuts to crack. If you can get any of those stats any better, it will use up a lot of resources to kill them. For example;
Kolgrimma's cloud places correctly gets them up to effect. def 14 vs melee and she has a hit buff spell. Madrak2 well. semi WM are always great. Grissel2 will give them unyielding for a round, which may put them into the arm 22 range, which is just plain silly. Borka2 will get them up to def 14 vs ranged and magic attacks (consealment). and so on. Only the doomshapers will not add much.
Horthol is ok but not essential. If he could be taken for free, then yes please. The extra die on impact hits combined with madrak2 semi WP and Boh seems awesome on paper.
Currently I am using 2x longrider max in a kolgrimma BoH list. Works fine for the designated target (mass single wound infantry or shooty armies). It can put a dent into a slayer (avg: 12 dmg including impact hit) or any other light jack/beast.
On avarage. I think including a single unit is always a good thing. They cost alot of money to buy.

I like them with Horgle. Under IR/STONE and SG they are super painful to remove. Of course I use them to move the center of my line forward while others probably prefer to use them on the flank.

Long riders are some of the most fun I have playing trolls being able to just slam heavy warjacks or whoever, around the table willie nillie. They do have less of a learning curve that a lot of the less resilient cavalry, which is also a big plus as they do take dedicated effort to remove.
Though I was very sad the day they created the no slamming your own stuff rule as long rider bowling was always a viable fun strategy. Alas, no longer.

Any Cav models with Tactician (Madrak1) are excellent. The ability to hide them behind your screen and then charge out is excellent as well as not having to be mindful of navigating their large bases around each other.

My favorite cav unit in the game. I had enough successes pre 2017 Northkin CID that I bought a second unit and tried running bearka double max longriders for a bit.
While that wasn't as successful as I hoped, it was still fun.
Haven't tried with Madrak1, but got psuedo tactician via jarl skuld cloud feat and delivered through fennblades in BoH.
Messed around with Borka1 for kd on their melee, to get around tough. Grissel 1 and 2 got a game or two, as hoof it is neat (longriders in back arc?) and so is parry, and unyielding.
Horthol and the boosted impact attack thing really is good ve high def infantry. Kayazy do not want to see a fell caller buffing a 3d6 impact on a charging tuffalo.
Wish i could still take them with the war wagon like pre-theme days, but I should think the hooch hauler should give me what Im after there.
