Read the report. So was there any reason to play this list with the Sea King beyond just wanting to field the Sea King? Seems like swapping him for a Glacier King would be a straight up buff (can use the stone, bears can hide in his shadow, etc).

My main issue with the Sea King is you pretty much always want a Mauler and an Axer to ensure you can always get the most out of him which means he only fits in PoD. The MK has rage built in and the GK has so much infantry support that he can just live with stone speed buff.

Literally I just want to play with the Sea King, that's it Also, he's got a pretty sweet threat range with Bait the Line and his innate 4 inch reach. Chain weapon is also something that I've been valuing more, I see a lot of shields.

That being said, I *really* like the model and I want to play with it, but I don't really want to play PoD since I don't have a lot of the support solos at the moment. It's a poor choice, but one I want to make anyway

Fair nuff, I think he can really shine in PoD with Doom2 Callandra or Ragnor. Once you have the pieces I really recommend giving it a spin.

Om starting to think that a SK only battle group could be legit for Grim 1 (though he probably wants an impaler/bomber still) and Grissel 1. They both give it a 14" threat without breaking a sweat and that is something you have to respect and play around. I think that allows them to play in slightly different lists than they normally would and that is always refreshing. The MK is most likely a better beast in general, but 14" threat, though by no means super awesome, is still well above the average threat range and it presents some issues for sure. Also, Grissel gives it an extra attack and a free charge (i wont assume calamity here) which makes it shine even without a STR buff. Grim can make it more accurate and even though he might not one round heavies, he can actually some times attack them, and they wont be able to reach them on the next turn due to feat. That is ALMOST like one rounding This is all speculations though

Thinking about a SeaKing with Grim1. You threat 14" and still stand 4" away from your target. If you feated that turn a speed 5 heavy with 2" melee has to be as close if it wants to hit the sea king next turn.

Hmm....Something like this looks like a lot of fun with Grissel 1, I played the crap out of her in mark 2 with fire eaters and long riders anyway... conflictchamber.com/#c7201b_-0G58joiWjqj20ki-6miZiZezezTrollbloods Army - 75 / 75 points [Theme] Storm of the North (Grissel 1) Grissel Bloodsong, Fell Caller [+29] - Pyre Troll [8] - Sea King [36] - Trollkin Runebearer [0(5)] Valka Curseborn, Chieftain of the North [0(6)] Krielstone Bearer & Stone Scribes (min) [6] - Northkin Elder [0(3)] Long Riders (max) [20] Northkin Bear Handle & Battle Bears [10] Northkin Bear Handle & Battle Bears [10] Northkin Fire Eaters [7] Northkin Fire Eaters [7]

macdaddy - yeah it's a ton of fun. We're planning on playing one trophy kill a week, and maybe eventually she'll get comfortable enough with the rules to play a more traditional game. tiberius - do it, you'll be surprised how cool it is
