How do you do it?
No, really. I need some advice here, because the ret spoilers have taken me from salty to actually just [REDACTED] empty feeling.
Help.

I don't particularly care about Ret getting Gore4, but I *do* care about the lack of forums and inability to test things outside of the "playtest du jour" in CID. It's frustrating because there's fewer open lines of communication.
Trying to figure out Grymkin and Terminus have been my short term solution. What lists have you been kicking around?

Haven't. I don't have tournaments that I can make it to, and there's a lot of new blood who don't have full lists to build with, so I'm just cobbling together whatever feels like it'll make for an interesting experience.
Fun fact: Gaspy3 with a unit of banes, the ILO package, the Aiakos-Stalker package, and a seether of his own doesn't do so hot against Darius with a crapton of warjacks. Especially if you forget Grievous Wounds on the centurion you would've destroyed if not for his feat.
Also, you're literally the person I was thinking of when I put this thread together. We clash occasionally but your particular brand of sunshine and unicorn farts is kinda necessary.

We clash occasionally but your particular brand of sunshine and unicorn farts is kinda necessary. So here's a trick I've come across that's helped me a *ton* list building when I can't get games: simulated games on Vassal. Now when I come up with a list, I run it against the usual suspects (Khador jack spam, Haley3, Haley2 and Ossrum). Most of the time I find that my brilliant plans don't work, but if I hot swap models in I can start to handle situations that I didn't plan for (eg. Barry and Seethers with Terminus morphed to 3 stalkers for knockdown which then went to two inflictors for knockdown, shield-guard and better ravager options against spam). I usually start with a rough simulation, just running everything forward and seeing who gets killed, back tracking state until I have a workable game plan and seeing which combinations work and don't. Then I play through a full game until I'm satisfied I can handle most situations I've thought up myself. Having taken a couple of these lists to my FLGS (notable Denny2 clouds and Scavengers of the Line) I've been way more prepared and I've worked out solutions to a lot of problems I hadn't thought of early on in Mk3 (one example, scrap thralls running through a cloud wall to be shot in the back). Things run a lot more smoothly and I feel a lot more confident in what my list does. This doesn't solve any of the social issues of the current disaster, but it's a version of the Cryxian Serenity Prayer: Toruk grant me the serenity to accept the forums I cannot change; courage to change the lists I can; and wisdom to know the difference.

Ive just had to come to turns that mk3 so far has been a giant beta test. New edition, theme comp, SR rules, CID, Faction, forums. Alot of things are changing and i think the chips are far from falling where they will land. i dont think we will have an honest view of the meta and vision of the gane until all the armjes have their command books released and a full SR ruleset encompasing all the basic themes. With that said ive been very frustrated but still cling to hope. If your area has lots of new people then it will be up to you to guide them into the competitive scene. You can have a direct effect on your meta and the growth of that community. Very rarely does someone have that opportunity and you should seize it.

Aaannnnddfd it looks like i dont know how to properly quote. Not your fault. The Board interface is funky. You can delete and repost though.

Sorry about the interface; my suggestion is to switch from the preview tab to the BBCode tab; it should help you not put your text within the quote

Honestly I look at it this way. Jason Soles is one of the main guys who historically handled Cryx design. It's been made very obvious that Grymkin has been one of his pet projects the same way Convergence was one of DC's. It's obvious Soles spent a lot of time working and fleshing out Grymkin, and a lot less time on Cryx. Once Grymkin CID is finished and they're released I'm sure he'll be spending a lot more time on Cryx's future. It also helps to remember the history of Trollbloods in Mark2. At the start of Mark2 Trolls was widely considered one of the bottom factions incapable of competing at the highest levels due to its massive Cryx weakness and not having a lot of amazing matchups. Then they got Warders, Fire Eaters, Grim2, Highwaymen, Dhunian Knot, & the Glacier King as well as an amazing Theme Force in EE to the point where they jumped from a bottom tier faction to hanging out with Cryx, Legion, and Circle at the top of the heap.
I want to believe there's a lot of amazing models coming in Cryx's future. Take a look at all the new character jacks & beasts that have been released along with the faction books so far. Loki, Brickhouse, and Azrael are all new solid and competitive options for their factions and Eye of Truth is insane & possibly nerf worthy. This gives me hope that Kharybdis will at least be playable competitively. I've also noticed the more Theme Forces get released, the more it appears to be the way PP envisioned Mark3 to be played. We currently only have one very hyper restrictive theme force. PP has already shown that they're totally willing to fix problem models within theme forces (ie the Make Gatorman Posse Great Again Theme that was just spoiled). Banes and Mechanithralls too OP when taken in context with anything. Well take these models in our nice and restrictive theme forces and maybe we get to go back to playing our Mark2 Banes getting Mark2 Mechanithrall recursion back. Who knows, but with the way some of these theme forces have been looking I would consider it possible. Well I'm down on a lot of what Cryx has currently I'm extremely positive on what Cryx is getting down the line.
#playtestedfor3years makes more sense when you realize many of the playtest games were probably done playing theme forces. IMO Mark3 should have launched with all of the faction books ready for release within the first 2 months, because without access to the first handful of theme forces many factions just feel very incomplete right now. I'm honestly just excited for our April releases, and really interested in what Theme Forces are going to be in the Book, because even if Ghost Fleet is one of the Book releases we have the Bane Theme coming in No Quarter. With the Ghost Fleet and the Bane Theme out of the way I'm wondering what else they give us. I doubt it'll be Merchants of Death as the Satyxis are currently performing well out of theme. Possibly Scavengers of the Line since we are getting Mortenebra2 so a jack theme might compliment her nicely. Possibly a new version of Dark Alliance that allows Cryx to take more of the Mercenary Cephalyx options that we were denied in Mark2. Possibly a Thrall theme focusing on the Biles, Mechanithralls, Bloats, and Carrions. It's honestly up in the air, and I'm excited just thinking about what gold might be found.

This literally made me laugh out loud. I was always amazed w/ NPE's ability to see the bright side of virtually anything PP threw at us in Cryx. He was always there to ensure that the discussion didn't devolve into "##### sucks; what was PP thinking?" salt-fests. I'm glad to see he made it over here.

Positivity for the sake of positivity is a waste of time to me. Instead I try to think more realistically and just ignore it and expect that everthing we get will either be shit or at best, average. That way if/when we get something good it's a plesant surprise. In the meantime I just play with what I like and vote with my wallet.
If there's a silver lining with Ret getting Gorshade it means we could possibly see rival casters come to Cryx in the future and maybe something decent will come out of that.

Let's see, positivity... Oh! I get to play pinball wizard with Morty again, now that Deryliss isn't just a turn 2 Sacrifical Lamb target Plus I get Morty2 in a month or so! - Hopefully an interesting Jackspam caster - Gaspy3 is great, but I can't quite get Venny to work for me, and running Morty1/Morty2 will hopefully be hilarious (no doubt a terrible pairing, but still fun). Plus Doug Hamilton is taking a break from Ret for a while and is coming over to the dark side to scuplt some of our future models

I'am trying but it's nearly impossible. Everytime i feel something good happens they take (it seems ) two steps back. just the last example : When i had hope and saw that they try to fix stuff with errata they: 1.Closed forums 2.kicked PG program 3.released a beta faction, that feels more like cryx than cryx(gameplay not the looks)...
so many points/problems why i could stop playing: 1.the release of the mess that MK3 was 2.because of balance problems nearly all my local experienced players stopped playing. 3.feels like only a margin of my Factions/collections (Legion, Cryx, Trollbloods) is useable #Designspace. 4.All the changes that scream GW to me (Forums, PG, Price increases , making good models bad and new releases good ,...) 5.Balance through Theme? (seems only themes will make bad units playable the worst kind of trying to balance a game in my opinion) 6.Being immediately shut down if you say anything negative on Facebook (often by people who just post questions about their first 25 point lists) so no discussion possible In their old forums you could at least guess who has a little experience.
7.The pile of Minion models that have no use for me anymore. 8."empty" tournaments (not empty but not full like they had been at the end of mk2) 9.Even this: "trying to stay positive reminds me of the time i should long left GW and still stayed". 10.Not feeling the itch to buy new models and also if i don't buy the new ones, i don't feel i can play competitive lists (Hellmouth). so i don't buy because i feel forced and don't play anymore because i feel i can't field the army i want to play. 10.1 not knowing if something that seems good will stay good.
11. Models i bought the faction for (looks) are just bad (for example banes) 12. Factions lost playstyles i loved (Legion hit and run)
Probably would have sold my stuff the last time i was this down on the game. But thanks to mk3 the used market is flooded and i really don't want to sell my armies for under 50% and I'am probably not ready to sell them yet(really don't know)

Cryx players have an advantage that other faction players may not: I started buying the models because they were really cool looking. The Bane Thralls are still kick-ass stand-ins for virtually any type of RPG military undead you care to run (i.e. Wraiths, Death Knights, etc). I also think Slayers make great iron golems.
As I have not played since 2014 I am looking forward to seeing what Aikos and a couple of Stalkers can do. I also picked up a couple of units of Satyxis Gunslingers and the new sculpt of Denny2. I might see what kind of list I can put together with this stuff as a basis and give it a try at the FLGS.
