So, I'm late in noticing this (don't always get to keep up with WarmaHordes news), but I just saw that Tim Banky won the SOO with Cryx.
He was running Denny 1 (Ghost Fleet), Witch Coven, and Terminus (Ghost Fleet). I've got to see if I can watch some of his games.
Congratulations, sir!

Congrats Tim. Just goes to show that good players can still make Cryx work.
I feel now like Cryx has been given enough love by PP, we don't want to buff them any more until we can be certain they definitely need it.
I think a lot of the problem was from Cryx players in Mk 2 who were not actually very good at the game, but just happened to win a lot because they were playing a completely busted faction, and then moaned like anything that Cryx was all unplayable trash.
As with all things the cream has floated to the top, and the good players are rocking with their Cryx again, all the other players need to 'git gud' and stop asking for fixes now

I can see where this is coming from, based on your handle and avatar image.

I'd be interested to know why the double Ghost Fleet pairing, with exactly the same list bar battlegroup. I mean, I get that Ghost Fleet is good, but I wonder if it wouldn't have been better to diversify into something else. Though both Denny and Terminus do indeed play a mean Ghost Fleet that do different things. But if that's the case, I wonder why the exact same loadout. Would he have played Terminus in Dark Host if it had been available for instance?

I'm okay with Cryx now with Dark Host + CID fixing banes, half my reason for getting into Cryx. The other half was for Bloodgorgers...

Yeah, I feel like after this CID, the only ones left behind are Bloodgorgers, the Sepulcher and Denny 2's feat. (and probably others that are so far behind that I can't even remember them) Besides that a few minor issues, but bottom line is that other factions probably have it worse at this point.

Which makes it easier for you to determine which list you want to play into the caster you think they are going to drop against you. It's a powerful theme list, which does certain things very well. Terminus is probably also there to ward off assassination lists.

As with all things the cream has floated to the top, and the good players are rocking with their Cryx again, all the other players need to 'git gud' and stop asking for fixes now A lot of the problem is that the vast majority of models that were good in Cryx Mark2 became unplayable garbage in Mark3, and the models that are now good in Mark3 were bad/Garbage in Mark2. Even if you owned Cryx in Mark2 you had to buy into the faction all over again. How many Mark2 Cryx players do you think owned 3 units of Revenant Crew? How many major Mark2 tournaments were being won by Witch Coven? Mark2 Cryx players who stuck with the faction aren't asking for fixes because the faction isn't good enough, they're asking for fixes because the $600 worth of models they bought into the faction for and what to play are sitting on their shelf because they suck. A lot of people got into Cryx for Mechanithralls & Banes, not Revenants & Satyxis. It's the same reason you see people who bought into Circle for Wolds complaining, the stuff they really liked about the faction became really bad.

I dont buy these assumptions at all. My player skill is total zero, I never won with MK2 Cryx and come MK3 most wins with eSturgis and bile friends. My meta is steamroller 75pt all day, people mostly just practicing for tourneys.
That said, even me, a total idiot, noticed there is something wrong with the faction. Now the theme(s) are actually top contender lists afaik, which still sucks in my opinion. I hate themes, especially those giving free models. If everyone playing themes, then why we need themes in the first place? Pp needs them to sell models, players dont.

I play Cygnar so half my faction is borderline garbage, *tin foil hat on* PP gotta make that sweet sweet dollar! forcing everyone to buy 40 Revenants seems like a pretty good way of doing that "tin foil hat off*

PP wants everyone to play in themes all the time, that is why they are the best way of playing your faction. With how bloated factions are and will continue to be, breaking down a faction into 'sub factions' using themes is the only way to achieve internal balance.
