I believe that their are several lists where madrak is still strong against. He enables even kriel warriors to be feared. Sure he has a lot of poor matchups like nemo 3 ,funline or other shooting lists. But he could be an answer to handle skarre1 or the troll mirror.

Since the CID went live i feel that madrak2 lost a lot of interest and i do not know why. I consider him still as one of our best warlocks. He is able to turn everything into a truck hard hitting machine. Just look at Long Riders where even impact attacks are power 14 wm and then the charge attack with power 14+ 4 dice.

Where their is still a lot of armor to crack i believe madrak2 should always be considered. He could play old school in BoH or be played in SotN where he could turn Raiders or Bears into all stars.

In my opinion it is not about the wraith engine. Your main concern should be the 4+ stalkers which ignore your cloud wall and just jump feared next to your beasts and with gravious wounds it really sucks. Skarre 1 darkhost seems to be the biggest problem for my current pairing.

Perhaps grim1 is the way to go to play vs cryx. Saw a lot of different builds not sure which fits my play style best.

He is in adr so he should really be considered.

2nd match Kolgrima1/POD vs. Rahn1
Stupidly put Owl's Wisdom on my Bomber instead of Kolgrima*. Mulg negates 3 Rahn Feat TKs, but can't the 4th. 7 mage type attacks and two sprays (Skarath/Discordia) and Kolgrima fails her 5th Tough check against assassination (Earth's Blessing) HA!.

3rd match Kolgrima1/POD vs. Kolgrima1/POD?!!
Opponent has Axer/Brigands. I have EBDT/Lanyssa(?!)
Cagey positioning around a center building. After Bomber eradication of KSB aura, my EBDT kills/snacks opposing Mulg, my Mulg kills/snacks opposing Mauler. Cold immunity on both sides makes some of Kolgrima's tech fail. Sneak tech = Lanyssa Winter's Storm against Mulg/Axer. Win by Control Points/attrition.

Notes:
1. *Keep Owl's Wisdom on Kolgrima whenever a brace of killer mage(s) are around!
2. I personally avoid the Axer because Mulg/Feat/terrain/EBDT/clouds defense tech against shooting allows positioning for my alpha.
3. Opposing Ret/Rahn player noted concern about Eilish. Duh!

Learning a lot by playing her...

I am not sure about leaving the axer. I played kolgrina several times yesterday and mulg had to trample a lot for perfect spray positions.
