Hmm.. I think you might be correct on that one. One of those things where I archived it as not working in my head then forgot to update it. So his horror show does still work if you can get him there. he'll still get gummed up on our on models but I suppose that can be worked around. So....do you plan to play him this weekend to get more data? Thanks but I got enough data from the last game I played with him. I know it's hard to pull this from the wording on arcane dementia, but the rule basically says every time you need focus, you wont have it, and every time you don't need focus, you'll have 7. It's a hard rule to play with. And yeah welsh, done that before, it would still be better worded by making it overtake.

Well it's only in his front arc. And he'll berserk and kill anything short of a man o war in one hit. Also, it's cheesy but his loss of 360 los means you can alter his melee range to increase the distance moved. Basically by moon walking backwards. It's hard to explain without a diagram. But if you have 2/3 models base to base (like in shield wall) you can make it so that only one is in melee range at one time and so you can get 3 inches of movement. Yes. For those that haven't done this, it's the Butcher Moon Walk. Basically, you change your facing to keep more than 1 enemy out of your line of sight. Hit. Kill. No more dudes in your line of sight (cause you're looking the other way) and then shuffle back. Rinse and repeat.

Must.. resist.. joke... about jdeckert drowning in... cats!
I used B2 last night against a Zerkova2 list. This time I listened to my wife and friends for once and didn't just go charging Butcher in at the first opportunity. instead he held back, killing things with eliminator on Feat turn and building rage tokens. My army mopped his up! It was brutal. Ruin himself took out a juggernaut, a devestator, and two Greylords without fury on him. Unfortunately, Zerkova got in and spell assassinated Butcher to death because I forgot to block line of sight with my two Forge Seers (I gave ruin focus instead, which was silly because he had five souls before he activated and I forgot to take those into account!)

Moon walking is good, but damn does it eat up clock at times making sure B2 has exactly one thing in his melee range.
Just for clarification, jdeckert's illustration is a good example of how once you're advancing moonwalking can work but in an actual game butcher wouldn't actually get all those moves. Homicidal maniac triggers when there are no models in his melee range. In his first picture even though butcher kills a model, he wouldn't actually get to make an advance as there are still two models in his melee range, he'd have to make his berserk attack on one of them first. You gotta somehow set it up so that initially you only have one model in range, likely charging to just max melee then moonwalking after that. Takes some practice so you're not eating your clock but it is sooooo satisfying when you surf from one side of a zone to the other.

Yeah, the first picture is supposed to be how not to position Butcher2. I explained it when I first posted it, but didn't this time, which is confusing.

How would you position Butcher like the second image on the charge? You couldn't, but you could charge the leftmost model leaving the 2nd outside of your 2" threat. You'd then step into the next guy and get your LOS positioning fixed then for added attacks.
