they are committing to circling back to put all the themes through CID. That actually seems REALLY smart to me. It will give the community time to be doing real playtesting outside of CID with "approved" stuff which might change (so don't go buying 3 more units of Bombadiers just yet), with the certainty that if they broke something it's gonna get fixed. I hadn't thought about this, and I actually agree. I have been of the opinion that the recent CID cycles have been to short to get any meaningful feedback in. As you say though the time between release of these themes and when they go back through CID will let then shake down in the meta for a while and let people come in with better formed ideas.

I hope we can get enough folks on CID to at least test Sacred Ward on Doomreavers to have PP take a look. Having played lots of games with Legion Swordsmen and against many games with Sentinels, I just don't see Reavers being OP with any buffs we have to offer. Granted there us a difference of 1" Pow11 Weaponmaster vs 2" Pow12 Weaponmaster and berserk but for 2pts more you get a 10 man unit. Swordsman aren't exactly tearing things up with access to Fury, Iron Flesh, Battlelust or Occultation. Sentinels are beasts because they don't die on approach at Arm17. I may be missing interactions that are broken but I don't see it. Hopefully if they get tested it can prove one way or another.

Ruin seems like a natural fit for the Greylord theme (they made him out of a Juggy after all). Just making sure I'm not crazy, but isn't Ruin a Kodiak? YES. He is built on the kodiak chassis.

Would Mercs get Apparition? At worst they should get it while under Valachev, right? Any jank there? I'm thinking Cutthroats with Apparition, Zephyr, and Reposition are a bit silly. They still probably won't get much done though...
Are there any Merc models that might be allowed in theme who could solve the survivability issue?

It has to be a doomreaver or greylord unit, so only under Valachev. Being able to move 11" through enemy models before firing boosted pow12's into their back is a decent trick with the Megawitch (curse of shadows)? Alexia, Nyss, and Aiyana also wouldn't mind apparating about.

If Valachev makes the unit he atathces to a graylord unit, will a merc unit including Valachev be legal in theme now?

I believe that the logic from MkII still holds: the unit needs to be legal in the theme to begin with. BTW is Andrei1 legal in any themes right now? Are there any character solos who are not in any of the released themes?

I hope PP comes out with new Doom Reaver sculpts to go with this theme. Ideally in plastic, with a weapon variant (swords or flails).

What's wrong with the He-man 'I cannae move my neck because my shoulders are too buff." Appearance. They just make me feel inadequate. And since when has He-man been Scottish? Soul Samurai - Winter Guard Kommand. Sadly not available for free, but can be included. Apart from all those merc solos gathering dust on the shelves?

Did you just assume He-mans nationality!
And that makes sense, their shoulders are so big they can't see their mates.

If Valachev makes the unit he atathces to a graylord unit, will a merc unit including Valachev be legal in theme now? Ranking Officers have changed from MK2, they no longer confer their subtype to the unit. So Valachev does not give a merc unit the 'Greylord' subtype.

Fenris was the only missing character solo really in the roster. He's covered in the new one as a Doom Reavers. In other thoughts, my hopes for the Doom Reavers/grey lord theme was for their delivery to be improved. They struggle mightily against any ranged threat. They're expensive too, so any sniped off early immediately makes the unit lose value. I was hoping for clouds like the bane (?) Theme. Something upfront to give them something to hide behind on the approach. Also, clouds fit in thematically with the spooky nature of both greylords and doomies.

Actually as it stands now Valechev can not be used in any of our themes since he has to be specifically allowed in the theme.
"Remember that Ranking Officers cannot be included in theme force armies unless the rules of the theme force specifically allow for the Ranking Officer and the unit it attaches to." Prime p76.
This is why Valechev doesn't make a unit a greylord unit anymore- "Additionally, a model can be identified by its own rules; for this to apply to a unit, however, all models in the unit must have the identifying rule." Prime p9
References to Battle College should be avoided since sometimes they are wrong. Occasionally the rulebook is "wrong" but only if an Infernal says that it is wrong.
