I've been thinking of them with Strak 2, out of theme with iron fangs and black dragons. Something to bring some immunities, decent shooting, and good damage on Last Stand. Unfortunately it doesn't look like the attachment sprays are affected by last stand, but I'm still curious to try it.

sadly only Strakov1 has Veteran Leader AKs. Yeah, that's kind of weird. I wonder what happened that made them all lose respect for him him (or however you justify him losing that rule fluff-wise)?

I don't think thats something that gets explained in the fluff. More of a Rule change. He lost sprint and that is even his signature Move (looking at torch). Maybe it has something to do with the rumored MoW-Theme force. (or some other with ak). That would made SK2 with Aks and Vet. Leader to strong (hard to imagine).

Maybe because he stopped hanging out with them, the cool cutting-edge of Khadoran warfare that he created, and started spending all his time with the old-fashioned iron fangs? Or they're just jealous that only two got picked to be his friends now. Also, he's started copying their clothing style. That's a sure sign you need to break the relationship off...

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean by this. As in the assault chaps need to walk to be in range with the flamethrowers Hahahaha, I was so sure they had assault because... well it makes a lot more sense to use flamers on the run than carbines. Had never considered that they lack it until now. How on earth are they not fixed yet? Edit: And by that I mean that I didn't think of using AK before, and will be thinking even less of them from now on.

Not unless AKs get hunter so they can get around the trencher's dig in rules. They can barely hit them normally, they hit them even less when they dig in. I love me some AKs but this is truth.

I think the AKs are more meant to run up and stab trenchers than hang back and shoot them. Charge, drop the gas cloud in the assault shot, and then on your regular melee attacks, start with some fire sprays and gank anyone who is left with your bayonets.
AKs + Strakhov = dead trenchers

Heh, I didn't actually think they were going to explain it in the fluff, I was just wondering how it could be explained. Perhaps he used to be real picky about which AKs accompanied him to battle personally, only picking the best, but now he doesn't really care anymore/realised he can't afford to be picky/play favourites? As far as losing Sprint goes, he didn't actually lose it, it's just called Reposition now. Generally he does stuff that's similar thematically to what he did before (speed buff, accuracy buff, Stealth, clouds, hit-and-run), just in news ways or with new targets, as well as gaining some new stuff (ARM buff, damage buff, survivability buff): Sprint/Overrun -> Reposition Occultation -> Stealth Cinder bomb -> his flunkies drop clouds Sentry -> Return Fire (or whatever it's called) Feat/Superiority -> Quicken

Thats the problem. 1 for assault and 1 for Attack (Gunfighter). That might be a bit potent. crimsyn: Yeah, if only..

Isn't the biggest issue with trying to kill trenchers in melee the fact that trenchers outthreat the AK in melee? And with powerful charge they have pretty good odds to kill AK even with shield wall...

If we really do see trenchers with some frequency than take a look at AK's under OW

Maybe Strakov2 realized AK's weren't effective in the new war? 😂

No, if you Assault and get into melee, the gas will hit on a 7 (6 with Strak), which is more than half of the time.
