Irusk2. Magic attacks on the destroyer (might become Behemoth later), plus Airburst, plus the new SR2017 objective rules deals with enough incorporeal stuff I've found.

Tried Strakhov1 against the Baldur2, double woldwrath list, won on assassination. Was my opponents first time running the list, but also my first time playing into such a list with Strakhov, so we could both have improved our game a little.
In the end a couple flanking ulhans got to Baldur.

Well against circle it's usually easy to trigger overrun on the manikin, so against a brick list like Baldur2, assassination might be the best option.

I finally had a chance to play this list and got a top of 2 assassination against Cray running a gazillion jacks. Wow, I love Strakhov (its a regular bromance) and the Grolar is moooooney. My list. War Room Army Khador - Strakhov Theme: Jaws of the Wolf 3 / 3 Free Cards 75 / 75 Army Kommander Oleg Strakhov - WJ: +28 - Behemoth - PC: 25 (Battlegroup Points Used: 25) - Grolar - PC: 18 (Battlegroup Points Used: 3) - Kodiak - PC: 13 - Juggernaut - PC: 12 - Marauder - PC: 10 Greylord Forge Seer - PC: 0 Greylord Forge Seer - PC: 0 Kayazy Eliminators - Leader & Grunt: 5 Kayazy Eliminators - Leader & Grunt: 5 Kayazy Assassins - Leader & 9 Grunts: 15 - Kayazy Assassin Underboss - PC: 0 THEME: Jaws of the Wolf --- His list had 8 jacks including 3 centurions. I won the die roll and went first. We both ran turn 1. I put Superiority on the Grolar. He positioned Cray in rough terrain, bullet dodger up (so def 17 and he can walk away if missed) surrounded by centurions who have polarity field so I can't charge them. His caster is close enough, but he's got 3 linebackers. I see an angle to charge a light jack with the Grolar, and if I kill it I can overrun myself to Cray. I fully load the Grolar, cast Overrun on him, and put an extra focus on Behemoth. Behemoth puts some damage into the light. I run a pair of Eliminators behind Cray so he cant Dodge away. Grolar charges and finishes the light off with his initials, scoots forward, boosts the first bought swing and hits, and finishes the job with the second hit. At Def 17, no way does a Jugger get it done. To wit...if I failed I could have charged in the 2nd pair of eliminators who autohit the knocked down Cray. Heres a photo.

Huh, I thought Kraye had Steady for some reason. Just checked the card and I don't see it. Was that MkII or am I thinking of another cav caster? Nevermind, good work and congrats on the win.

Kraye changed quite a lot from mk2 to mk3, he was def 14 arm 17 with steady in mk2 now he's def 15 arm 15, while he does have access to bullet dodger I think he's way easier to kill now.
Also good job on the win Armchair Warrior, I like the list, all the kayazy and still 5 heavies, that leaves occultation to go on Strakhov himself for an army that is either stealth or arm 20 to shoot, doesn't leave all that many targets.

Nicely done Chair!
Whenever I play Strakhov, I have a really hard time NOT putting occultation on him at the start and just leaving it up the entire game.

Unfortunately lost the rematch against Haley2 yesterday. The player that goes first in the match up definitely has a solid advantage. I think I also mis-deployed a couple models and moved a few things badly first turn. Still really enjoying the list though and think it has a perfectly viable game into Haley2, I just need to practice it some more.
Will be trying the match again while going second in a couple days!

testing this atm: conflictchamber.com/#c3201b_-0x7c7w7p0d0d7t7t7thFhF8r8G8GKhador Army - 75 / 75 points [Theme] Jaws of the Wolf (Strakhov 1) Kommander Oleg Strakhov [+28] - Behemoth [25] - Destroyer [14] - Juggernaut [12] - Juggernaut [12] - Marauder [10] - Marauder [10] - Marauder [10] Greylord Forge Seer [0(4)] Greylord Forge Seer [0(4)] Widowmaker Marksman [0(4)] Kayazy Eliminators [5] Kayazy Eliminators [5] Won against Striker1 jackspam. It was a really bad matchup against Polarity Field, Arc Shield etc. But it turns out even with Rowdy a Deff18 Arm 20 Striker1 without Focus dies fairly easily. This match showed me a few things. With Forge seers Focus the angles of Strakov get even more redicioulus. (Was contemplating throws, pushes etc to get Rowdy out of the way) Finally saw the value of Eliminators (charge Pow15 with Mat11 hit caster fairly reliable) Just saw another Reason why I don't think I will take the Grolaer in the future (except maybe for the pathfinder). I just face casters to often where either his KD or his Gun are useless. I would say his special kid is useful around 30% of the time, and for that he is too expensive. Only the Pathfinder is good, but I don't know if I would not just take the Kodiak at that point. Btw Marauders are crazy good with Sk1 for Assasinations. Slam somethin in the caster or away is really usefull.

If you're seeing that many models who are immune to knockdown, you could bring Torch or a Decimator instead for the Sustained Attack.

Torch could be a good idea, but atm I prefer to go the Khadoran way and inlucde as many cheap Jacks as possible. But Torch is definalty worth a consideration in some cases

That's why I'm preferring Torch just now, the sustained attack is far better than knockdown in a lot of situations. If Strakhov is your Cygnar or Legion drop (Haley2 or Fyanna2 both likely) you should really consider Torch in there.

I played my first game of Strakhov 1 last night against Maelok.
(Strakhov 1) Kommander Oleg Strakhov [+28] - Behemoth [25] - Juggernaut [12] - Juggernaut [12] - Kodiak [13] - Kodiak [13] Greylord Forge Seer [0(4)] Greylord Forge Seer [0(4)] Battle Mechaniks (min) [3] Kayazy Assassins (max) [15] - Kayazy Assassin Underboss [0(4)] Kayazy Eliminators [5] Kayazy Eliminators [5]
His list (listed as best as I can recall) was run in theme so all the gators had 8 boxes Maelok 3 x units of gatormen posse 2 x witch doctors 2 x wrastlers Bull snapper Totem Hunter
I went first and on my turn two I noticed that there were only 2 gatormen preventing me from a possible downtown assassination from a Juggernaut with superiority on it. For my plan to work I needed to also get the help of an overrun on the Juggernaut and use Strakhov's feat so that is exactly what I went about doing. I tried to remove the two gators blocking my path but spacing was tight and could only get two assassins onto one of the posse so I didn't block my own charge and I failed to kill him. Since getting the Juggernaut to Maelok was off the table I killed as much stuff as I could and positioned my elliminators all in threat range of Maelok for the next turn. The following turn I managed to get 3 on him (spacing was tight and I forgot about sidestepping out of the way with the first unit to make room for both members of the second) and left maelok on 3 boxes after some shooting from behemoth.
Ultimately I got assassinated with a combination of a few sacrificial strikes and a wrastler to the face but I really enjoyed my first game with him. There are so many subtle things you can do with overrun and the threat is really far and unpredictable for your opponent. After the game I did kind of wish I had a Grolar because I think I still could have made it to Maelok with him. Since our lists are the same despite battlegroup, I might try Armchair Warrior's list next time. I'm really looking forward to more games with Strak since he seems like a caster where experience really makes him especially dangerous.
