One note about despoiler: a 5" aoe reaches slightly less than 2" from the edge of even a small model, so those halbardiers you mentioned could have charged Belphagore. If that's true (I've not set that up to see, but I should) then it was clearly an intimidation factor that won me that side of the board Oh it's true. If I recall correctly, even the small base size isn't protected because it is just over 1" in size. Basically "long reach" models are never stopped by this kind of thing, but it's great protection against other kinds. Which for the sake of game balance/fun, is probably how it should be.

Well without much more to go on, it will be difficult. Most of the themes in Skorne work fairly well. But if I want something dependable and easy, I run this:
War Room Army
Skorne - x2 dumb
Theme: Imperial Warhost 3 / 3 Free Cards 75 / 75 Army
Xerxis, Fury of Halaak - WB: +28 - Archidon - PC: 10 (Battlegroup Points Used: 10) - Archidon - PC: 10 (Battlegroup Points Used: 10) - Bronzeback Titan - PC: 18 (Battlegroup Points Used: 8) - Titan Gladiator - PC: 15 - Titan Gladiator - PC: 15 - Cyclops Shaman - PC: 8 - Titan Sentry - PC: 15 - Agonizer - PC: 0 - Agonizer - PC: 0 - Basilisk Krea - PC: 0
Paingiver Beast Handlers - Leader & 5 Grunts: 7 Paingiver Beast Handlers - Leader & 3 Grunts: 5

I have run it with both Zaals.
Both appear to be attrition lists but are actually assassin lists. You basically use incorporeal to run through their lists and kill their caster. Zaal2 crutches on it harder than Zaal1. Both of them will kill your own clock because of all the Vengeance moves and all the soul token management. It's a fun but not really that powerful list. But it has decent game into nearly everything thanks to the awesome versatility of Immortals

Skorne is the only civilization firetrucked up enough to weaponize the cries of a tortured baby elephant.
I love this faction.

[...] when initial rules for things like Makay, with 2 of the battletanks, that are clearly over the top. It makes me wonder how extensive the testing is. [...] The other thing could be , that in CiD, they specifically release super silly models, just to see how the community reacts. But as more CiD’s Happen, I feel this reason is less likeley. In one of the recent dev hangouts they mentioned putting things into CID that they felt were probably too good, but wanted feedback first. Then their strategy was to tone it down a bit, put it back into CID, and see if there needed to be more. It's not a "release", it's testing. They definitely do that and have said that. They did it in the Everblight CiD, specifically saying "we think this is too good, confirm our fears or prove to wrong"

I know it's Thags special sword and the only way they can slice off Athanc shards. Does anyone know where it came from or how he got it?

I have run a Titan herd with Xerxes2 in Imperial Warhost to great effect. For how simple it is to play it works pretty well (great for our "Drunk-machine" nights):
War Room Army
Skorne - x2 dumb
Theme: Imperial Warhost 3 / 3 Free Cards 75 / 75 Army
Xerxis, Fury of Halaak - WB: +28 - Archidon - PC: 10 (Battlegroup Points Used: 10) - Archidon - PC: 10 (Battlegroup Points Used: 10) - Bronzeback Titan - PC: 18 (Battlegroup Points Used: 8) - Titan Gladiator - PC: 15 - Titan Gladiator - PC: 15 - Cyclops Shaman - PC: 8 - Titan Sentry - PC: 15 - Agonizer - PC: 0 - Agonizer - PC: 0 - Basilisk Krea - PC: 0

Vayl2 is more popular than Vayl1, so "they" are probably referring to her. Vayl2 is pretty good at assassination. Vayl1 is... Well I'm not sure what she is good at, but there's a thread running here about her with two Thrones that looks like a pretty good list.
Archangel strikes me as primarily a shooting beast right now, so I would consider it with Lylyth(1-3), Croak Raiders, and any beast we have that shoots fire (Seraph, Teraphs, Ravagores... Even the new Carnivean now)

Siege Animantarax can win you game by themselves because it turns out power can win games. My experience with them has been if you can keep your opponent from killing them easily they win you more games. You have 2 aggys, one for each SA and a defensive feat that helps keep them alive. This list is going to work, the question is does the list work better than Rasheth. Things I really like about the list are archidons can charge over SA and your feat is not needed for your offensive capabilities so you can time it when your SA are in the most danger without having to balance it across an offensive turn. I do not like that you have no way of helping the SA guns hit. I really want to change the Savages to more archidons but there is no good way of doing that. Let us know how the list does! I only wanted two Archidons because I couldn't ever (reasonably) cast Abuse 3 times in a round. But you are right, there isn't much as can do to make the guns hit better. However, because of Volume Fire, I've found I rarely use them on anything other than jacks, which they usually get +2 to hit on. The biggest problem I have with the list is that it has few ways to deal with high DEF spam. Fun fact: Admonition works on Turtles?

I realize that most people consider Morgul 1 to be inherently flawed: a beast caster without the ability to run multiple beasts nor the support for infantry. I have a list i want to see it it can break this notion:
War Room Army
Skorne - Mortles
Theme: Imperial Warhost 3 / 3 Free Cards 75 / 75 Army
Master Tormentor Morghoul - WB: +30 - Titan Gladiator - PC: 15 (Battlegroup Points Used: 15) - Archidon - PC: 10 (Battlegroup Points Used: 10) - Archidon - PC: 10 (Battlegroup Points Used: 5) - Cyclops Shaman - PC: 8 - Cyclops Savage - PC: 7 - Cyclops Savage - PC: 7 - Basilisk Krea - PC: 0 - Agonizer - PC: 0 - Agonizer - PC: 0
Siege Animantarax - PC: 17 Siege Animantarax - PC: 17
Bog Trog Mist Speaker - PC: 4
Paingiver Beast Handlers - Leader & 3 Grunts: 5 Paingiver Beast Handlers - Leader & 3 Grunts: 5

Summary: I figure the strongest thing about Morgul is his feat. Under it, it should be extremely difficult to kill anything with high armor because of the inability to boost or buy attacks. So everyone hides behind Turtles, made are

The Scythean has a couple niche situations that it is amazing at, but it's also strong enough that it can take on enemy heavies as well.
My problem is that the Throne is basically almost as good in those niche situations and much better at general roles, buffs the rest of the army by debuffing the enemy, has longer threat range, is more survivable, and doesn't tax fury reserves... All while costing the same amount. So... Unless you are really counting on fighting Madrak, the Scythean has little reason to hit the table in Oracles. The only other theme it is allowed in is infantry based, has tons of anti infantry tech already, and whose beast points are all taken up by the Blightbringer.
Tldr: if you have the piece painted already, it's good enough at its roles you can play it and not regret it. But if you have the Throne as well, there's little reason for it.
I think if Legion gets more access to LoS blocking tech, it would become very worth it. Amusingly, our best (only?) LoS blocking tech is the Throne.

seeing as how 1 of the main uses for the Hellmouth I've always had is blocking charge lanes out of control. I definitely would not buy or recommend the current hellmouth. Too bad i already have 2.... The ONLY reason I wouldn't play Hellmouths is because y theme doesn't allow it. Now, I do think that Legion themes are overly restrictive in this regard, and up until recently the only playable theme didn't allow them. So I was bitter in having owned them because I felt I couldn't play them. But... It's not only one of the strongest and most faction defining pieces in Legion, it's also one of the most fun. This "nerf" is justified and trivial in my opinion. It doesn't affect a single list I play or would ever play.
