Yeah, it's a really weird design choice.
It helps establish the scale. Imagine that tank but without a visible pilot; it wouldn't be obvious what scale it's supposed to be, it would probably feel like it's 15mm scale or something, and might just look out-of-place next to some of the bulky Khador models on medium and large bases. That's a really good point. I hadn't thought of that.

What bugs me about the "tank" is how exposed the dude seems to be; he's just begging to have his head blown off. Yeah, it's a really weird design choice.

So I just caught up on the Primecast+ episodes. What's with the new Cygnar model? Was there some lore update I missed? I listened to Primecast 1 and I sorta kinda never got around to listening to the other three. But, if I understand correctly: this is all the new stuff coming in the Orgoth expansion. Basically everybody spent the last 10 years post-Claiming in a technological revolution. Or something. Oh wow. I didn't realize it had been ten years. Well, we're getting a new heavy that has a axe and a shield that looks like the plow off of a train, and a little two person tank.

OK well I think the resin came out even more rubbery than before this time. I give up on this resin, need to buy some more I guess. Good luck!

I decided I wanted a Gunmage NPC in the 5e game I'm running. But for easy access I wanted him in DnD Beyond. After poking things a bit I realized Hexblade Warlock works actually really well for the concept. I mighty have to bring the idea back if I ever get to be a player in a 5e game.

I've designed a few minis for my 5E game in HeroForge. Printed a few myself also. They came out pretty good overall.

I did pull a bit from Goblin Slayer for the general setup of how the adventurers guild works in the game. It just made my life easier.

I also decided to throw a little Iron Kingdoms into the 5E game I'm running. Nice thing is none of the players know anything about the setting.
The party was asked to go kill some goblins who had made a burrow near some farmers. A few of the younger men who thought they could take on goblins went to check it out and never came back. The party found the burrow, but quickly discovered the goblins were all dead. As the went further in they eventually reached a back room with a bunch of dead goblins, a few dead humans, and one dead human still holding a massive great sword with screaming faces carved down the length of the blade.
So now the party have this "weird sword" they are pretty sure is cursed, but have no way to be sure.
I'm thinking the next session they'll be asked to investigate a farm with some weirdly unsettling pumpkin headed scarecrows, only to discover everyone is missing.

As someone who builds models and does some other craft things, I've always found it interesting how different groups have different names for the same thing. Varnish, top coat, seal, clear coat, matte coat I'm sure I'm forgetting a few more that mean, "apply a transparent layer to protect and modify the glossyness of the paint." "Weathering" seems to be a universal term though. Anyways, I painted a mini the other day. A Mando I printed a while back as a test. Came out alright.

That's my Tomakin alright. It's in a box in the shed with all my other warmachine stuff.

Sounds like fun conversions. You think you'll ever go back and finish them? I honestly don't know. I'd like to, but that feels more and more like wishful thinking. Having a nice resin printer now would certainly give me more options for finishing the conversions.

A long time ago there was a bit of a joke about a Gurren-Lagann-style battle engine/dragoon Karchev. The idea being that he was on a huge base, but when he gets wrecked you replace him with a large-base Karchev. Well, I was reminded of that the other day, and I suddenly realised that I could actually make something like that now that I do 3D printing. Annoyingly I can't get the idea out of my head. I've pretty much figured it all out, I just need to do some 3D design work (not really my area of expertise) and a whole lot of printing. If I can find the time I might actually try to do it. Chances are I won't get around to it and my motivation will fade away; that's my usual pattern. If I ever do manage it, I guess I could run him as a conquest or something. God I have two battle engines I never finished. I was half way through converting a Viktor/Conquest into an AT-TE, and more than half way through making a Kraken into my forum icon. It was painted up like a tomato and had the cartoon face painted on and everything. Edit: wait, those aren't battle engines... Oh it's been to long since I actually played.
