I don't think getting shocks into opponent's flag turn 2 is a good idea. They will be in charge range of everything and just die and he will score flag anyway and you'll lose a big chunk of points.
Get a Drakhun or a sped up Clam to go that far.
Running with shocks into enemy threat ranges is a waste of shocks, might as well play demos. The only time shocks should leave a shield wall is when they charge and kill whatever can retaliate.
Drakhun is useful here. Advanced move gives us a big opportunity to be in good positions - able to countercharge and repo in a way that allows us to contest Bottom of 2 while presenting a non trivial threat. We agree. Drakhuns absent other answers (like speeding up the Man of Wars through SP/Move/Tac Supremancy) good for this duty. At 9 points it is a painful investment but sometimes you gotta do what you have to do.
Clams. Depends highly on the speed buff. I think it HAS to be speed rather than movement/boundless charge/energize But I want to do the math (and really it will require table play) because BC provides the pathfinder fix that might be needed to get there. In that case we are looking at Irusk1 (Superiority- hot swapped likely), Vlads, Kozlov (feat), Strakovs, and Malokov. Rest are situational (Road to war, etc) or are poor infantry choices.
an interesting dojo'ed idea from bS ing in Iron Arena was Vlad3 Double Drakhuns.
A) Dash provides a BIT of a speed buff. Not great but a bit of one.
B) Double drakhuns are good ;-)
C) Infernal machine helpful as a jack buff - for example to the now cheaper spriggan who can side step on feat to set up a pretty serious killing spree - (Charge 9, sidestep off first inital 11, sidestep to 13 on second, threatening 15 with infernal and bulldoze to provide the lane.
D) Some dojo with the chariots. No Dah benefits but you could sidestep off a charge provided room and set up a gun shot from a pretty far distance away.
something like this.

Basic idea is to keep live the 17 to 19 inch slam threat all game with then follow up bombers from very far away. If you have to attrition out you have alton to add in additional grevious wounds on top of the seige. Drakhuns are a poor man's knockdown but always an options.
