GAME 2 Rask VS Zaadesh2 and the Dracodile is live! WrongEye stood camping my flag throughout the whole game and that's what got me the win. This game was so full of mistakes from both sides so every turn one of us would sit down and go "I can't believe I did that, now you're going to win for sure!" but the game went to Round 5. Round 2, Rask feat is a Go. I forgot the battle engine could trample. So i lost the wrastler. Which means I lost Rage. Which means i can barely scratch the elephant hide of skorne war beasts. Going up against skorne beasts without rage and fury...sucks. He killed EVERY beast but the swamp horror. But that took time...and Hutchuk contested his flag every turn but the second. No one contested mine. When he had 90sec left and only a gladiator contesting my flag my swamp horror took 2 freestrikes, one from an archidon and one from the sentry (but he chose not to take them because low on time) and then I just hit the gladiator, pulled him away from my flag and the 6–1 win was in the bank. Photograph from when I had won. That moment when I realize, the Sentry ran out of the zone to engage Rask...so all I have to do is kill the Archidon and I win...but Rasks needs to paralyze that thing first, so takes a free strike from the Sentry, moving away, DEF15 in Star Crossed is safe and the Sentry misses. Rask goes within 6" of the swamp horror to cast fury and shoot AND THE SENTRY COUNTER CHARGES HIM(!!). Note to self...counter charge sucks... Learning points: The Derpturtle can trample, never forget it. Countercharge completely negates Admonition on Rask... sucks... But hey! I’m up with 2 wins, next game is into Abby2, and I am terrified. Maelok will take care of her.

GAME 3 Maelok vs Abby2, scary as shit...I've only ever beaten abby2 ONCE. He goes for a top of 2 assassination with Proteus by charging a gatormen posse and then buying more attacks on Maelok. He charges out of Ctrl range and does nothing, HA! Free heavy, thanks! I feat, kill Proteus with a Wrastler and Blind Walker. Gatormen on the right kill the slipstream winged thingy (neraph? Seraph? Whocares?) and then I make a fatal error becayse I get greedy. I can get 3-0 on scenario now if I kill the carnivean toeing the zone. Mortality up on the carnivean and croaks go to town on it. It lives with 4 boxes because I forgot brazer gives and additional 2 arm (he also had spiny growth up). What I should have done: kille the Naga! Without it he's screwed. Heavies damaging gatormen posse at dice -4 or -5 is not fun for legion. 2-0 would have been fine. never get greedy when things are going your way! He now gets another shot at assassination as he forgot to feat previous turn he can do it now, and the carnivean can JUST (2mm) charge the wrastler behind the forest...and then redirect all attacks except the charge on Maelok who camps nothing (because ARM23) but since Carnivean has Wraithbane (see where I messed up?) he goes to Arm19 and is struck down. I go to 4-0 when the game ends. Total CP after 3 games: 15.

GAME 4 Maelok vs King of Nothing Deployment Bottom 1. A croak jams a murder crow and the rest hide behind the house. The rest siege of mists up and stay out of threat ranges. Bottom 2. I kill a Frightmare, a Rattler, snack a bunch of hollowmen, the objective and score 3-0 and the feat is up so ARM22 Posse and the Croaks are immune to frightmare shots. Good stuff. At this point he realizes he cannot do anything, so whatever he put in the zones, I killed. Win on scenario 5-0.

Thoughts.
Maelok is bad ass. Such an awesome caster to play. I love playing the Blindwater theme and I love that our infantry is now a force to be reckoned with. Croaks with +2" deploy on the AD is amazing, they often kill something first turn with a arced boosted mortality and some boosted rolls (like 4 makeda cats the other day, waahooo!). I don't see why I would play Blindwater Congregation with any other warlock than Maelok, he's just that good.
Rask is still quite boring. I don't care for him much really. Sure he's powerful and great power-wise. But somehow, I just find him...boring. Maybe I just wanna be a special snowflake and not like Rask like so many others do? He'll be replaced by BLoB as soon as he drops, he's too cool not to play.
I faced Trolls, Skorne, Legion and Grymkin. Not a single Warmachine faction and that was great! Hordes is back on the menu!

Thanks for taking the time to write these down, always a pleasure to read more minions batreps Just a question about that Legion game. From the picture you posted the Naga is pretty safe behind the gobber cloud and stealth from the succubus cloud (it has prowl). How would you have tried to kill it if you had thought about that at the time? I like your version of Maelok's list btw, I've been playing with 4x Posse so far, but the croaks seem like they would open up the list's capabilities without sacrificing the ARM skew. I'd make room for a soul slave and bone shrine when they come out, but I'm sure that's on your mind as well.

Your S&D lists are interesting. I've played gators for a while, and just purchased farrow off a friend but haven't been able to wrap my head around him. With your lists, what are you using as your front line to absorb the alpha, double vault with soulstorm up? What are your favored match ups to drop him into, what would you avoid dropping him into?

I was reading through your battle reports with your S&D list and I find it surprising that you hate the Meat Thresher in that list. I have been playing a list similar to yours (same beast package with the battle boar, meat thresher, vault, soul slave, lanyssa and the bog trog mist speaker) and I have been finding the Meat Thresher is the MVP every game I play it in. I just throw Polarity Field up on it and it just never dies haha. I was just wondering why you dislike it so much?

Such blasphemy re: Rask. If all you're using him for is as a Fury + Rage bot and his feat, then he sure is boring. But with his gun and Veil of Mists, he has so many options and fun shit he can do. He always contributes in my games, and the lists I have for him often have several moving parts and are a blast to play

Well, with incorp and death rider the croaks can move 7" so 3 of them would reach within 5", perhaps 4, that would be enough to damage the Naga, especially as mortality would have gone on the Naga as well I was contemplating 4 Posse but after trying the croaks I'm never going back, they are just SO good. Especially now that they can move 7" through the obstruction in the center of the table and kill something and be a road block The Croak Hunter is being replaced by a Bone Shrine tomorrow (when the bone shrine releases in the army box) and then I'll have to see how I'll squeeze the Soul Slave in there, feels worth it to get an extra mortality in there.

I suppose I'm just sick of him

Usually, against beast/jackheavy armies, I just move the heavies up, usually within 3” of the vaults, and within charge range of quite a few of the opponents beasts, you wanna lure him in. With Vision and Polarity Field and Sturm&Drangs feat, your beasts aren’t getting killed even a little bit. So you take one on the chest so to speak, then you strike back and kill stuff.

I think you could lose one of the blind walkers to make room for the soul slave and something else. With Bone Shrines and the spell slave, it feels like double blind walker is a bit overkill.

Thing about the Blind Walkers is that, while they're an arcnode on each side of the board, they're also an ARM22 heavy that can throw things, headbutt things as well as trampling into zones and not being easy pickins. It's kinda hard to get 10p that can do all that.

Fair enough, I guess it comes down to personal preference at this point. I look forward to reading your progress with the list however

I'm getting some games in today VS Grymkin. My friend who lost to me with King of Nothing now wants to try his Child list into Maelok and to quote president Trump: It'll be great!
