Man, I've been using them with old witch 1 and Strakhov 1. Yes, but where do they stand? In the middle of the table? On a flank? Shield-walled at the back of a zone, or at the front to keep the enemy out? In front of your jacks or behind?

I'm fairly certain he's been using them as paperweights on the corners to keep the gaming mat on the table!😂

Ok, back on point.
How about changing them to Winterguard Kommandos. Let Joe boost them in WGK. Done.

They've got more range than Winter Guard infantry so they'll probably be fine.

They've got more range than Winter Guard infantry so they'll probably be fine. But less than the Rifle Corps, which are the ones people use now, I think. I don't actually have enough Winter Guard to field a list right now.

True enough, but their mission is different as well. WGRC should be a fairly static unit while the AK's are all about closing with and destroying the enemy.

You'd also have to change the rules slightly so that you can't take flame throwers in WGI or rockets with the AKs, since the rule for weapon attachments state "winter guard" weapon attachment.

The easiest fix to to that would be to make flamethrowers Winter Guard models. Since the cards are digital now it's an easy mod. 😜

IIRC, the Rocketeers specifically identify WGI and WGRC as things they can attach to. Also IIRC, you can't attach them to, say, mortar teams. Which is understandable. I mean, I think attaching rockets to mortars makes sense from a fluff perspective (put all your artillery together in one formation) but game mechanically, that's a pretty potent degree of specialization.

You could also give them a CA that gives prey.

Give them a CA that grants ANY kind of damage buff and I'll take them a lot more often.
