It was my understanding that PP was going to include every model type in a theme force as part of the upcoming theme force reveal later this month. We had all assumed that the AK were going to be rolled into the Man-O-War theme force as a kind of "Future Warfare" type of theme, but now that we have seen the MOW theme what do people expect?
If they are rolled into an older theme force I would tend to think they would go into Jaws of the Wolf now, giving it a slightly more resilient unit to offset the Kayazy and Kossites. The other more exciting if less likely option is we have another theme coming down the pipe specifically for the Assault Kommandos.
Or PP forgot about them... OOPS!
What do people think?

I think they are standing thigh deep in Louisiana black mud. In other words, they seem to be stuck in a quagmire of missed opportunities and dead ends.

I kinda don't know what they are suppose to do, their range is meh, their pow low, they don't have pathfinder, their gas grenades are super situational. Survive is a stretch when they are def 12 arm 14, the immunities are cool against legion, but they will struggle to kill anything in legion so I don't really see a use for theme against legion, they will win a shooting match against flameguard cleansers, but how often do you actually see that unit on the table and say it's a problem. They need something, I don't know what, but something.

They need something, I don't know what, but something. Whisper Carbines? Yup, that would do it. Unit of short range armor cracker, could be sweet, not that I think it will happen.

Their base ARM should be 16 and they lose shield wall order, but get Wall of Steel, the thing where when they are B2B they get plus 2 ARM. The pow on their gun should be 12, the pow on their weapon should be 11 with brutal charge, where they get plus 2 damage on charge, and they should get a pow 9 shield attack as well.

And their gas grenades should act like all other AOE's and deviate.

Reposted from another thread:
Maybe Privateer Press is going to pull a fast one and give the Assault Kommandos the "Man-O-War" subtitle.
Then any of the remaining new releases could be AK and give the Armored Korps more depth.
I would like to point out 1 more thing:
Armored Korps = AK = Assault Kommando
Coincidence? I think not...

I hoped for mow+ak+fang theme but alas. On their own they suck, but as supporting unit that counts for free points they could do some work. Both their attack volume and grievous would be welcomed.

Well this could be a very strange idea and don't throw the Molotov Cocktails yet, But what if Assault Kommandos get the trencher treatment. When trenchers came out they had 2 different units and two weapon crews, then got a boat load of stuff.
Now the crazy talk, High Kommand see the influx of troops in Cygnar to bring their line troops to Trencher standard. So to Counter this threat Khador begins training Winterguard troops as Assault Kommandos. Aks begin using Rifles from Rifle corps, Standard AKs take the place of WG Infantry. This allows AKs to get the Mortar and Field Guns as support units. The weapon crews could get issued gas rounds along with the rockets to drop smoke to screen advances. You could even change up the Gun Carriage to become the APC we keep hoping for, just swap out the side guns for a small turret and a squad of AKs inside.
The best thing part is it makes sense and is easily explained Just make some quick changes to the present models and BAM new units. Some of the best Armies in history take a single elite unit and create two or three Veteran units by mixing them up with recruits so they have someone to look up and learn from.

It was my understanding that PP was going to include every model type in a theme force as part of the upcoming theme force reveal later this month. Mine too - wasn't it something like "all models will be usable in a theme force by the end of the year"? If my memory's right, that menas there isn't time to add lots of new AK models to the game. I suppose they could have a theme force which at present only has one unit, with the intention to add more later. Adding the MoW subtitle could work, but would be odd, as they clearly aren't MoW. Similarly Jaws, they don't quite fit - Jaws was meant to be irregulars clearing the way for jacks, but AKs are not irregulars. It could be rejigged as a more "black ops" theme, but that would be a bit of a change. Possibly giving a bond like ability to Strakhov 1 and/or 2, enabling a unit of AK to be taken whenever Strakhov is fielded? I could see that being a way around the issue and fits with Strakhov's role as their leader - there isn't really any other unit in Khador so closely associated with a single caster. None of this addresses their playability, but that's a different issue.

I suspect that this is a question we won't really be able to answer until:
1. We see an Assault Kommando theme, and 2. The UA which was spoiled in the back of the Khador book hits CID.
However, given that we haven't seen any concept art or renders of AKs, and the community is more excited about MoW, I think number two is going to be pretty far off.

AK's need a pretty massive new model drop to have their own theme given they're basically 1 unit with no UA and a weapon attachment + a warcaster. I'm honestly bummed they didn't end up in the WG theme since theyre just supposed to be like winter guard special forces.

Oh man I had completely forgotten about the Assault Kommando UA. Khador is either very lucky to get all these spoilers so early on, or PP just loves to let us linger.
