Oh of course, we should never forget the capacity for WTC players to be wrong

They are gorgeous. I really do hope I can find a place for them in my lists, as down on them as I've been.

I don't think you give WTC players enough credit. They will literally buy, learn and paint entire factions just to win a major tournament. Well, they buy the power list in that faction. If they thought a Farrow list was particularly strong they'd be on it like pigs on slop. There's actually a pretty big spectrum of players at the WTC. Not all countries have equally competitive metas. Some players prize familiarity over theorymachine. And Minions, being very poorly represented in general, are more likely to fall into odd exceptions than others. The only reason objectively for a player of the type you describe to play Minions at all at the WTC over, say, Cygnar, would be if they feel Minions answer a specific problem for the team. As a faction, I think the only big meta list we definitively answer to the point where we're worth considering over other options is Calaban into Ghost Fleet, which could certainly contribute to the prominence of Gators (though admittedly not so much to the prominence of Rask). Absolutely. I've played in the WTC a couple of times and was encouraged to bring something I was really familiar with (my proudest moment was beating Wold War with Will of the Nine Voices 8 CP to 6, which I attribute to a mix of familiarity, luck and the other player getting stressed). That said, I have met more players this year who will swap factions if they feel it gives them an advantage. I'm curious to see if it beats familiarity (will they place better or worse this year, I wonder?). Around here, Minions is pretty poorly represented among competitive players* and as a result, I often hear others say something like "Oh, you also play Minions? I hear Rask is pretty good." My point is that the local attitute seems to be "bring Calaban or Jaga-Jaga for Ghost Fleet but otherwise Rask is the only competitive choice in Minions". If that is a global phenomenon, I'm not surprised that WTC teams encourage their Minions players to bring exactly that pairing. *It doesn't help that I still haven't painted my Minions collection and thus end up playing Retribution at most local tournaments. I hate advanced painting requirements but they seem to be the rule locally.

Their most recent small based units of 3 have all been $25 usd (trenchineers, spears of scyrah, arcanists, morgy3 and strak2). I could see them as high as 32-33 though. The more expensive 3-units like greatbears are as much as 38.
Other recent 3-releases: Caine3 30 Thorns 28 Satyx.Guns 25 Stormgrenades 25 New b13 22

Yeah that's my concern. If they are Great bears territory I might buy one..might...but probably not with rules as they left CID.
At 25 I would buy one with those rules but idk if I would buy 3. I can't imagine paying $75+ for 24 pts of shield guard, that would maybe make it into some fun Midas lists.

Maybe with the exception of the grunt holding the hammer in two hands, they don't look all that difficult to do armswaps, etc with to give them variety between units either Tenzilla , Valks just went up on preorder at warstore; they're $27.99 msrp. Metal and Resin. And their text: "Determined, steadfast, and loyal, the farrow Valkyries make up the honor guard of the independent farrow warlock Helga the Conqueror. With hammer and cannon they beat back the Conqueror’s enemies, and with their shields and flesh they protect her from harm. When it serves Helga’s purposes, she has also been known to loan these prized warriors to her allies." ...could they be getting beat back on their hammers?

The seller text is seldom accurate for parsing rules...
Good to know the MSRP though.

Odds are that fluff text like that was written pre-CID, so it's unlikely that they're using it to spoil anything new.

That's probably just lip service to Helga's Feat.

Skorne theme previewed today. Begining with hungerford saying how he loves minions and tricking me into initially thinking it was our theme. Anyway he goes on to say that yes tihis theme will allow them to take the Dracodile. I specifically remember them saying durin CID that would not be the case. Oh well
