Casual player, and first time posting. Would it be acceptable to use rules different than what the models came with? As long as the models looked the part. Reason I'm asking, I picked up the Hallowmen for Grymkins. Theoretically, if I were to play you, would you allow me to run them as Cygnar Trencher Infantry, or possibly Steelhead Riflemen? Would a conversion help? Such as swapping the heads for a full head cover helmet? I'm used to the 40k community, where conversion work is encouraged to a degree, and as long as its easily identifiable, its often not a concern. Though my experience in the Warmachine community is localized only. No, I don't, because it is not looks like Trencher Infantry at all. If my friend already have the correct model but forgot to carry it from the home, or he want to proxy it before think about to buy it, then I may consider it, though, but it is never be a good idea to do in the normal games, ever. Only a single solo, or proxing additional Risen Grunt in Alexia1 seems fine, though, but proxing a whole unit seems unacceptable. Also, personally I am even not using the unpainted model at all, in addition to use the correct model, although I don't force my opponent to do so too. Made a conversioned model and use it seems totally fine, but using a totally diffrent model seems unacceptable. I don't want to see something like this.

And I'm actually okay with that. A heavy is a heavy, and I just assume all of the "warjacks by Apple" have guns. But Trolls are all medium bases, with no easy way to distinguish single wound chunks from multi wound elite infantry from Light Warbeasts. It's just a sea of medium base blue skinned models. Extensive modding aside: medium base loincloth means beast, more clothing means warrior model. Troll Axer says hi.

The Axer and Impaler and Bouncer definitely have the same kind of armour and weapons as most troll warrior models, so I agree that they can be hard to identify as warbeasts. The warbeasts are a bit bigger though, even though they all have medium bases.
