The Forge Seers have been out for a while now and I'm wondering what peoples take on them are after some play time?
Is anyone liking them out of theme with any casters? Or are they pretty much a Jaws only model since they are 'free' and don't have any particularly compelling competition?
Are you just using them to give out a focus? Or have you found other things to do with them? My take so far has been that they are kind of expensive to take outside of theme for what they do...

On a non theme list with a caster that likes only 1 jack like Vlad2 one of them is great to use to help power that single jack.

Absolutely everything, say it again!
All three butchers like two of them, same with Karchev, Hark, Z2, and vlad1 I've found so far. All for out of theme.
In theme, Two in Jaws is almost guaranteed!

My favorite is marshalling Destroyers. Behemoth on caster + 2x marshalled Destroyers cripple 1 heavy per turn from the safety of 14" or even kill it if you add S&P\HoF or spike, and their melee capabilities allows to whack everything that tries to come close leaving no good moves for opponent.
If I have just melee jack spam I don't use marshalling, just use them as focus dispensers.
I think they're worth it outside of theme if you marshall. Otherwise no, 1 focus for 4 pts can be taken on Wyshnalyrr before any Seer.
Didn't ever get any good use of them outside of focus producing.

Z2 and Forge Seers seems interesting, but I do not find any list - even on paper - that I feel comfortable with to play. What do you suggest?

Z2 and a ton of warjacks, with greylords as support!
I have no idea if it is competitive, but it's fun as heck.

I haven't played out of theme since Jaws came out, except once with OW2 I the CID cycle (because I wanted Aiyanna and Holt). If you were going to pay 4 points to Marshall something...why on earth would you take a Forge Seer over Malakov1? I don't see it. Power Up. 4 focus and Redline with built in shaking options is way better...waayyyyyy better.

I have a pair I'm using right now. They are good for dealing with Menoth no shooting due to their marshal bonus of makeing their weapons magical. adding in empower and the jack marshal rules for Strike True or Take aim makes our shooting jack pretty nice for this reason. Keep in mind that Hoarfrost is a pow 14 and he has battle wizard so he can do a bit of work.he makes a nice Vlad1 2 feat target in my exp as well. But he is pricey.

I'v found that with spd 4 and mat 6, triggering battle wizard is a pretty big gamble against most things. Also again with spd 4, using Hoarfrost is pretty difficult unless you can charge and battle wizard. Which is a gamble They also get removed pretty easily, so you have to keep them kinda back. So paying 4 points for 1 focus seems pretty steep outside Jaws (while in Jaws it's like a choice between a focus or a man hunter).

Z2, something like 2 Destroyers and 2 Decimators, and 2 Forge Seers with one marshalling Behemoth, as well as a unit of Eliminators and Mechaniks. Made to abuse sacrificial lamb.

And her feat of course. Double Empower.
I like them. Mat6 means getting a battle wizard off would be risky, but I've got it to work when I charged something and getting the spell off was a bonus.

To me they are free points in jaws and that's about it. Outside of theme they are just too expansive for what they bring. They can work to marshall ranged jacks like the destroyer or behemoth, but I think their role is pretty limited, because jack marshall is pretty limiting.

Auraco, this is a rare occasion where you and I heavily disagree buddy!

wendanI'm with auraco here. Make an argument for jack marshaling with this 4 put solo vs taking Malakov 1 (assume you're out of theme). I don't see it outside of teching for incorporeal, or using the free points in Jaws. (So, yes, I jack Marshall a Destroyer in Karchev Jaws). And, if you're out of theme and teching for incorporeal, wouldn't you just take a different graylord unit? (Can't wait for a graylord, doomreaver theme).
