He is the only easy way to get magic weapon in theme other than on your caster, so this gives him a place at the moment, what I don't like is that there is no other option, it's also why I'm really eager for a future greylord/doom reaver theme force.

Oh, I don't even generally marshall with them. I just like them for the two free focus and hoarfrost. I love malakov as well, but sometimes you want to keep jacks in a battlegroup, and they still shine just giving jacks empower!

I can see marshaling ranged jacks in theme, unsure about outside theme...
So what I'm getting is that people mostly only take them in theme and use them for Empower and occasionally to marshal a ranged jack.

Basically. Free empower is amazing.
HOWEVER!
They are really good to marshal things under a warcaster with boundless charge. I've had some fun marshalling destroyers, putting Crush on them, boundless charging for the free charge, and then hitting something 4 times with a ps19 axe with critical decap.
I am thinking of testing a Grolar, but boundless charge is definitely the deciding factor. We need both crush and the free charge.

You can use Crush and the Empower focus to charge. It's only one less attack than using Boundless Charge..

I like that set up with Behemoth, the magic weapons is a bonus, but then I do lose out on Battlegroup specific spells/FEATS etc.

I'm really, really leery of marshalling Behemoth. The risk of losing the Seer and also having no way to shake various effects with a model that is a quarter of your army points just feels like a recipe for disaster.
And does Behemoth really need +2 damage?

Pow12 boosted blast damage says yes.
But then yes, not being able to shake is huge. Depending on the lists in question.

I don't like idea of marshalling Behemoth. Infantry casters wouldn't want to waste points outside bg on it. Jack casters would really really want it to benefit from their battlegroup buffs.

Can't the warcaster just get him back in their battlegroup? I wish it was how that worked. The ability to pick and drop warjacks from the various battle groups would be amazing. And I'm not sure why we can't do that. It happens in the fluff. |
