It seems i did poke the bear, i was feeling the arguments build up as i read! Keeping in the spirit of the current conversation though..
I feel like the berserker/juggernaut should fill a similar role, beat sticks. A cheaper unreliable version and a expensive more reliable version. The mad dog already fulfills the anti-infantry role so the berserker seems redundant if he does that too.
How would we feel about a 13 point juggernaut and all/some of the following changes to the berserker.
Costs 11 points
MAT 6
DEF 12
ARM 18
HP 32 (3 cortex boxes)
P+S 17
Chain attack: berserk, if this model successfully hits with both intial attacks, after resolving damage it may make a free unboostable melee attack.
Unstable: Whenever this model spends more than one focus to; charge, run, make power attacks, boost attack/damage, or buy extra attacks it must roll a d6. On a roll of 1 or 2 this model takes 1 damage to the first available cortex box. If this model loses all cortex boxes it explodes at the end of it's activation. All models B2B take a pow 14 damage roll and all models within 3" take a power 8 damage roll. Then the model is removed from play.
Edit: alternatively, to have more of a wind up feel(more berserker like). If this model spends more than 1 focus this model must roll a d6 + the number of focus spent. On a roll of a 5 or 6 deal 1 point of damage to the first available cortex box. If this model loses all cortex boxes it explodes at the end of it's activation. All models B2B take a pow 14 damage roll and all models within 3" take a power 8 damage roll. Then the model is removed from play.
I feel like the berserker would fill a nice roll of an unreliable beat stick, it could hurt, but if pushed to hard will most likely explode. Maybe 12 points is more in line with his ability to damage? I also like the idea of him being a single target beat stick, as a berserker would get lost in a haze hacking at their already dead enemy.
