Update today in Warroom. COTD now allows for Azrael and zuriel. Thrones are now 16 pts.

Currently I'm leaning toward Thags1 with Draconic Blessing and Fog of War as well as Fyanna2 for Fury and Iron Flesh. Kallus2 is my first thought. Bethayne is a close second. |

I think spamming Soldiers would work better. One problem I've had with Bethayne in the past is having something that's hard to kill holding a spot. Azreal with ashen veil from Bethayne and unyielding from the theme should stand a decent chance of holding an area. |

The thing that I love about new Children of the Dragon is that it finally gives Kallus2 a theme that rewards him for taking both beasts to trigger Overrun and Weapon Master units that love Battle Lust. Azrael and Zuriel both have ranged attacks that cause continuous fire so it's easy to set up the Feat and they both really appreciate the extra armor that Unyielding grants them. Swordsmen appreciate the potential +3" of threat since it helps them be less effected by difficult terrain, Raptors can use Battle Lust even on their mount attacks.
The Beast Mistress may come as a surprise but I think it makes sense. Without any Forsaken Kallus struggles to run more than a couple of heavies especially since Azrael tends to go through a lot of Fury in a turn buying and boosting shots which minimizes how many free points you can generate from the theme benefits. The Beast Mistress takes that extra Fury load off of Kallus and gets you the extra points needed for a second free card. Her Shredders run and charge for free, Energizer increases their threat range and in a pinch you can cast Battle Lust on her. POW9 with a potential of 5D6 damage is awesome should you ever find yourself in a situation where it's needed.
The two things in the list that I'm not yet settled on are the Sorceress & Hellion and the Spawning Vessel. Initially I was thinking that the free charge from the Sorc would be worth the points but the Feat can give that already. It does have the benefit of the no shooting aura but that ability is much more valuable when you run two Sorcs to overlap the auras. The Vessel felt like a natural choice in a list with a fair number of infantry that probably wants to play against infantry as well especially since it can add additional beasts to either Kallus' or the Mistresses' battlegroup as the situation dictates.
The list above mine posted by snotling might end up being just better overall. More dudes might be better than the more tricksy approach I took. Will be fun to test both regardless!

What kills me about Children is that you don't actually want to use the Nephilim.
One Prot can be useful, but you never want more. Bolties can be useful, but you need much FURY management than Children allows if you want to bring multiple bolties. I love the bloodseer, but he's a bit pointless without his favourite animus-buddies (Carnivean, Naga and Seraph). The less said about the soldier the better.
I think Neuty's suggestion above is probably about as good as it's going to get with the theme, and looking there he's made it workable by not taking any of the Nephilim. Something similar with the twins might be workable as well, but again I'd rather have access to the Seraph and the Naga.

I was considering Lyly2, but you're asking for trouble taking her without a Naga.
One step further, not being able to take deathstalkers is a a massive sacrifice for Lyly2. She'd also love a Seraph in order to help with some of her FURY management (you don't need to boost in order to hit a flared target). What exactly are you getting for all of that?

She'd at least take a bolt thrower or two. Literally the Lylyth 2 list I ran last. Azeal and Zuriel, double bolt thrower, archers, and so on. I think Lylyth could actually put up a pretty scary thunderbolt gun line in theme now. @ Whiskie, I like every idea you had, cuz I had the same ideas last night. The only difference is I didn't take the pot and wanted spell martyrs. With Kallus' upkeep the spell martyr gains immunity fire. So you can play like Cygnar and throw brand of fire at the back of a spell martyr and only need 4s to hit. It's at least guaranteed to jump to one model. If I need to hit warpwolve Def, or something in cover, that'd be how I'd want to do it. |
