The Grolar is a much more interesting jack. And it knocks down much better than the marauder does.
The marauder first needs to combo smite to slam something. So if it gets hit with a hex bolt it can no longer do special actions. Plus you have the potential of slamming a target too far and out of range.
The Grolar just needs to hit you, if it misses it can just try again. And it can actually do some decent damage as opposed to giving you gentle slaps like the ps16 marauder.
Also, against a knocked down arm 15 caster you'll do about 4 damage a shot. Enough to either make them take the hit because it's a waste to negate less than 5 damage. Or they are burning through focus. Now with only 3 shots your doing 12 damage. Five will get you 20.
And the Grolar is fast enough to keep up with the army. It's not an amazing jack, but its one of our best.

Yeah the gun on a knocked down caster especially arm 14 or 15 casters makes them burn through focus/fury pretty fast. I've had games where I got 5 shots where I didn't even need to buy extra attacks with the hammer because the initial attacks were enough to get the job done. Don't underestimate that gun, rof D3+2 is really good, so is dual attack.

Critically, the Grolar Also Costs 18 Points. I just wish its gun was good for more than just assassination against lower armor Casters.

...Sid...you mean higher armor? And also Ruin costs 17 and offers less utility and doesn't have as many attacks. Doh, Yes. Well, your decision seems kinda arbitrary to me to say that the Ruin Has Less Attacks...But it outclasses utility and necessity manyfold. Itc a character Jack, so measuring it by those things will, of course, be difficult, but Ruin is one of our only ways of gaining access to Spell Dispels, outside of Zerkovas. Has Magic Weapon, and Reach. It also goes into a whole other level of amazing with Access to souls. And it still retains what Grolar Lost with Butcher. Extended threat range. Just having more attacks means little of those attacks are Crap. It's the "Yo Mommas" of Guns. "Yo Guns SO innacurate, it misses Winter Guard more then it hits them!", "Yo Gun is SO weak, that it does 1 damage on average against the Average Heavy Warjack", "Your Gun is SO short ranged, that even if you trample, your only getting an 11 inches threat off the gun!" It is also a subjective value I suppose. Not that I dislike the Grolar, but it's definitely overcosted, and its gun needs either +2 Inches or +1 Pow.

Grolars gun is range 8. It threats 15 when you trample.

Grolars gun is range 8. It threats 15 when you trample. I know I was adding the 3 Extra inches from the trample as "Bonus" Inches that only the Grolar can gain by Trampling.

Recent Grolar battle report:
Gaspy has is sitting back with his toe just past the edge of the kill box. My Grolar is hanging out in a forest contesting the edge of a rectangular zone. Gaspy of course has parasite out so he's Arm 17.
I knock Gaspy over, Grolar charges a convenient model (but trample would have worked just as well) and puts 3 shots into his face boosting damage on the first two. Dead Gaspy.
No other jack could have achieved this. Even Behemoth would have had some trouble due to him camping two focus.
