He will be never be released as punishment to those who did not buy no Quarter Prime, because it's a great business decision to have models in your game that players cannot buy, but that others can still use, it's good to show contempt for your customers You can't see it, but I'm throwing more money at company decisions like this as we speak.

Holy shot that sounds legit. Can we go back to those days. I'd really rather not, though. Infantry spam and weird points costs weren't super fun. I definitely prefer things here in MKIII.

Dwarfs are fine, imo. No need for a new theme. We already have 3 Casters which is pretty on par with the other sub factions. We have 1 of 2 of the Colossal and the only merc battle engine. We have the only good merc weapon crew and one of the most competitive lists in Mercs. We have 4 heavies and 2 lights and 4 units.
Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing a buff to highshields, maybe a new light jack, a new unit or 2 and some more utility solos... but I think Pirates need a CID more than we do. We're not in a bad place. It may not be the BEST place, but it's not bad.

I am debating whether to just take a min unit of trenchers just for a sacrificial cloud wall, and put quicken on the storm lances instead as it increases their threat to 15" for the mid game. Also with a full unit of trenchers and UA, I found it a pain for them not to be in the way of other stuff, what do you think? I think 12 bodies on the front line can definitely get in the way of a second wave of charges. But Quicken on the Lances seems a bit overkill. Trenchers are technically speed 8 with Quicken but the need to repo them back out of the smoke means they're only really moving 6.5" up the field in a turn with Quicken (4.5" a turn without). Speed 8 on Lancers means they're ahead of the smoke from the outset and a huge target. Not that they'll need the protection of the smoke wall to get there with Def 15 vs shooting, but if your opponent only has one choice to shoot at while you close the distance... It's certainly something to test, though. I just wish Dig In would allow other models to charge over them...

I thought that they said it was never going to be released outside of the prime promotion. Am I conflating that with the minicrate things? They happened about the same time. I would hope this isn't the case. Minicrate are one thing. Those are alt sculpts for models readily available elsewhere. Eilish being available only through the original NQ promotion means that SOLO is limited, not just that sculpt.

The saddest thing with Ashlynn is you cannot put out all your upkeep turn 1 You dont really need all 3 on T1, though. Admonition is great, but only useful T1 if you're going 2nd. Chosen Ground is amazing, but not necessary if you're not stomping through forests. Really, Quicken for Trenchers seems to be the only must-cast T1 upkeep.

Stormlances have proved underwhelming for me so far. Might need to look into alternatives, but Gun Mages feels lackluster. Can you explain why you feel this way? Where are the Stormlances not performing as well as you'd like? I can't see how taking one of the best cavalry units in the game can be a bad thing. As for Gun Mages, I feel they open up game into cryx (heavy incorp) and their shot types also give them a chance to put decent damage on armored targets by crit fishing for Brutal Damage shots on feat turn. Thunderbolts from Gun Mages and Gallows from Ashlynn can also open assassination opportunities and create positioning nightmares for your opponent.

Damn it ok, so I read it right? I need a dedicated cryx drop right? If yes what or who would u suggest? Llaelese Resistance with Taryn, Thorn Gun Mages, and Arcane Tempest Gun Mages + UA marshalling a Vanguard for tons of magic weapons? That's up to 12 magic shots - 11 Pow 10s: 2 with Brutal Damage, 6 with Incendiary that can be 3 with Incendiary and Barels to be Pow 14 instead, and 7 with Crit Brutal Damage. The last shot is a pow 12 with crit Brutal Damage that can be boosted. Seems like it can do some work on Incorp. Ashlynn Llaelese Resistance also grants Pathfinder to pretty much everything in your list so that takes care of the terrain troubles from Hammerstrike lists as well. Getting bullied out of zones is something Mags2 does to pretty much everyone.

Cygnar Resistance almost always takes max Trenchers + UA for cloud wall cheese with Gibbs.
I'm using either Gun Mages + UA (marshaling a Vanguard) or max Stormlances for my second Cygnar unit, currently. Though I'll likely be picking up Stormblades + 3x WA + UA to play around with as well.

Her tastes are pretty wide and varied so the aesthetics, while important, won't be a big deal. And, as I said, we'll go over the aesthetics too to find one she likes. But I'd like her to choose an army she likes on concept, then aesthetics.

So, the wife is interested in wargaming (or at least the models / painting aspect). But I also want her to play. So we're going for concepts she likes first and aesthetics second.
So I thought I'd get her a list of quick rundowns on all the factions and see which concept, if any, piques her interest. From there, we'd go over her interest in the looks of her chosen factions.
Anyway, the list:
1) Steampunk America with lightning powers
2) Steampunk soviet Russia with occult pseudo science
3) Steampunk crusaders with flame throwers
4) Steampunk undead / creepy pirates
5) Human-hating, magician-hunting Elves
6) Art deco / world of tomorrow steampunk machine-people
7) Fairy tale / nightmare creatures from hell
8) Native American / Scottish Trolls
9) Civilization hating druids, werewolves, living statues, and feral people who eat hearts
10) Creepy blighted dragon people
11) Slave-owning, elephant-torturing, desert vampires/dark-elves
12) Stereotypical steampunk Pirates
13) Stereotypical Sword-For-Hire Mercenaries
14) Stereotypical steampunk Dwarves
15) Creepy human-centipede machine-science sewer people
16) Voodoo swamp gator-men
17) Crazy pig-men with Dr. Frankenstein / Dr. Moreau science
Does this pretty much cover all of the factions (and sub factions of Mercs/Minions)? My knowledge of some faction concepts is better than others. Any suggestions?
