Yeah killing hearts of darkness might have singlehandedly saved WMH. I applaud PP for having the sack to do so.

It isn't dead, simply postponed. Hopefully when it comes back for review by the community the next time it will be in a more workable state.

Honestly, I would have appreciated that theme as part of a campaign event, with a counter-theme representing Morrow and Menoth, with opportunistic groups like Cryx and Circle being able to bring their hand in.

Well, I seriously hope they aren't planning on condensing the factions together so you can cherry pick stuff from factions based on "alignment" for anything other than a global "for funzies" campaign or something.
But at least it will stop distracting from the Infernals.

That theme needs to have a LOT more restrictions. Like a list of two or three casters per faction that are allowed. Letting the Infernals have like three times the casters of anyone else (the pretty good sized Khador and Cygnar piles plus the smaller pile of Crucible and Infernal ones) would be nuts.

Shame to see it go, was looking forward to attempting to get a CiD game or two in with it. The Infernal solos are starting to be toned down in CiD, which is no great surprise. I think sorting the Infernal solos would go a long way to fixing Hearts of Darkness.
Still, now looking forward to the Oblivion CiD and hopefully getting to try out whatever Hearts of Darkness comes back as!
Cheers, Dave

Colour me intrigued for the “context” in Oblivion that might make sense of this. Doesn’t excuse releasing a hot mess without any context though.
Glad they’ve cut it for now so we can actually review the new faction

Lets hope we don't get Age of Sigmar'd
edit: unless it involves Menoth coming back and curbstomping all the heretics back to Urcaen.

Ok Privateer Press, I was wrong about you. Dealt with this crap well. Anticipation for Infernals returns with vengeance, I am hyped again.

Things I think the 24 hour Hearts of Darkness saga shows us:
1) PP DOES listen to feedback from the community and is able to make rapid changes if needed 2) PP's internal testing needs beefing up. A theme (or product) like that, in that state, should never have reached public testing. 3) There is huge divide in the community around what they want armies and themes to be and what is agreed on as balanced and good for the game. This is actually quite dangerous for the game and could be one of the reasons why the WM/H community has felt very unhappy and unsettled for the last year despite all the PP and community driven efforts to bring things together

2) PP's internal testing needs beefing up. A theme (or product) like that, in that state, should never have reached public testing. As far as I'm aware no one actually posted a list that they claimed was totally busted and proved it with any sort of reports. There was a lot of shouting about how broken the theme was, but never anything to back that up. Basically every strong combo people posted was based on the Infernal solos, who are too strong right now. Hence why they are in CiD as well. Doesn't matter now either way! Cheers, Dave

I don't think PP pulled HoD because they thought it was broken; they pulled it because it was stealing all the attention from the actual Infernals. They prioritised the faction itself over a mixed theme.
It does leave me wondering what on earth the Oblivion CID is going to be, though.

We already have this info from one of the insiders in 2018:
WARMACHINE: OBLIVION—Campaign Book
Following the release of the Infernals Faction is WARMACHINE: OBLIVION, which takes us into the dark heart of the Infernal apocalypse known as “The Claiming.” Oblivion will contain a lengthy, multiplayer campaign for WARMACHINE and HORDES that portrays the plight of humanity and its allies in their fight against the Infernals. The campaign will support multiple players through a series of story-filled scenarios that are played at a variety of sizes, from Company of Iron skirmishes to full-blown battles, each one impacting your next battle to come. In addition to background and stats for Infernals, Oblivion will also detail new models, including the Order of Illumination—Morrowan demon hunters determined to strike back at the heart of the Infernals—and Archons, supernatural champions sent into battle by the gods themselves. Every Faction in WARMACHINE and HORDES, whether a human nation, an ally of humans, an enemy of mankind, or just opportunists ready to rake in the chips where they fall, will be able to incorporate something from the pages of Oblivion into their armies.
The fate of humanity is darkly uncertain, but one thing you can be sure of is that WARMACHINE & HORDES will never be the same.

So, what are you thinking about infernal masters, people?
My thoughts:
1. Scrollboi - the weekest and the strangest. He is kinda Mk2 Severius 2 on a large base. Srsly needs buffs, otherwise I see not point of playing him. 2. Chainboi - great guy, seems quite balanced. brings out the beasts, beef them up with synergy, has a seriously good feat. 3. Octopusgal - IMHO the strongest of three, the buff-debuff galore machine. And has good stats as well.
