So the name says it all. I'm going to the Welsh Masters next month and I just found out it's been changed from a three list to a two list event.
so I was thinking, how about Strakhov1 and Strakhov2? Strakhov1 with a conquest and a few jacks with some winterguard. And Strakhov2 Legion of Steel?
im thinking it might have serious jank factor, people very rarely see Strakhov1 and they will probably underestimate the ability of the heaven piercing hammer, and Strakhov2 is new and not very played against either.
but are there any match ups that might cause issues?

If people play Ghost Fleet in your area you're in trouble. If the list isn't a thing in your area, your should be ok. Both list are fast in their own way so scenario play is always an option. Dark horse factor should help.

Maybe some Doom Reavers or Forge Seers with marshaled jacks would help? or outriders might be alright. Giving them stealth can be handy.

Well I could always bring an arcane wonder? And then use that to give the Conquest magic guns.
I suppose the best option is to bring in Aiyanna and Holt.

I believe it's armoury that gives magic weapons. But yes!

But that really depends on if Ghost Fleet is a thing in your meta, it's a big deal in mine, but it doesn't seem to have attracted much attention in the global tournament scene.

Well there are about 150+ players going. So ghost fleet might well come out of the woodwork and hit me in the face.

My current Ghost Fleet drop is B3 out of tier with Ruin, ragman, Orin, Kell to provide as much magic attack as possible without taking undesirables like doom reavers. Doom reavers are not a good solution against Ghost fleet, they will just get shot by the riflemen in the pirate units or charged by the blackbanes since blackbanes have more threat range than the doom reavers. I've got a big team tournament next weekend and I'm bringing B3 and Strakhov1. Strakhov as the generic drop since his list can take care of pretty much anything except super high armor skew or Ghost fleet, that's what B3's list is for.

See, I'm thinking of putting Old Witch with Irusk 2 to deal with all the infantry, and that should help deal with ghost fleet.

What's the problem with Ghost Fleet? Recursion and incorporeal? Do Stationary effects work on incorporeal?

The ghost fleet I've played against is neutered by RFP rather than magic weapons (only need a few for blackbanes). Unfortunately most RFP doesn't work against undead. In khador you have shatter storm. Sorscha2 I imagine would hose Ghost fleet by RFPing the unit leaders to stop recursion.

It's the combination of recursion and incorporeal, dealing with the blackbanes can be problematic especially since they can get more dude in the unit by killing yours. That and the 3D3+3 dudes comming back every turn, that can be riflemen who have ghost shot. The list when run under Denny1 can be a real pain to fight. B3 with lots of magic weapon and silence of death can work well. Sorscha2 with some magic attack (or even better Ayana & Holt) will probably make your opponent play his other list.
Incorporeal can be made stationnary so Sorscha1 can probably do something. It's just that the standard Winterguard Kommand list will get steamrolled by a Ghost Fleet list, and I don't see legion of steel performing any better.

I am back in Khador after an extended Merc run. My initial offering will be pStrak and pVlad, both using the Jaws theme. Forgeseers really pump up the numbers in regards to in theme magic attacks. double marshalled destroyers matched with double hoarfrost can do work. Run a butcher in Jaws and bring Ruin to the party. Ghost Fleet will be at any large event, but I agree that a Butcher drop, even in theme, can deal with it.

The only issue with JotW is that I won't be getting any forgeseers this side of the masters. So the theme is pretty much not worth it for me.

So in the end are you going forward with the double Strakhov pairing? I'm thinking of running Strakhov1, Strakhov2 and Butcher3 in my next big triple list event (Southern Ontario Open).
