So in the end are you going forward with the double Strakhov pairing? I'm thinking of running Strakhov1, Strakhov2 and Butcher3 in my next big triple list event (Southern Ontario Open). Well I've been out of the country for the past few days so I haven't had much chance to think about it. But I'm still really thinking about it. I'm really thinking about that Conquest Strakhov1 list combined with my Legion of Steel list. I was thinking of running him out of theme with shocktroopers and Conquest. But I'm really loving Legion of Steel.

I've been loving Strakhov2 in Legion of Steel so far too, still 3/0 with the list, against Legion, Ret and Cygnar, all factions that usually give me a tough match up. Haven't tried him with shocktroopers but the conquest under inviolable resolve does look like an interesting idea.

I really want to try Ruin with Inviolable Resolve. That's the combo making me tempted to try Strakhov2 out of Legion of Steel just now.
Cheers, Dave

What list did you have in mind? Ruin with sacred ward is effectively an interesting target for IR to have a superb anchor in the list, Ruin's 2'' melee range is also interesting considering Strakhov2's kind of lack of a good jack spd buff.

My phone only allows me post when im quoting strangely enough...... Ruin is a decent target for IR, but I think he is a better target for quicken. Without a natural speed buff he's going to be as slow as a juggernaut except his charge range is 9 not 8. And I don't think that's good enough to be much of a threat. Especially when Legion of Steel Pikemen can charge 13. Witness me bloodbag!

I'm not a big fan of quicken on a warjack, for a cost 3 upkeep on a focus 6 caster it is probably one of our worst jack spd buff in faction...It works wonder on infantry and cavalry though. After a couple of games with Strakhov2 in legion of steel I have a hard time coming up with a satisfying Strakhov2 list that isn't run in Legion of steel. Pikemen are pretty much our best last stand target and if you are packing two units of pikemen you might as well go full IronFang and play legion of steel anyway, the benefits for that theme force are really good, countercharging weapon masters with precision strike can really ruin people's day. I get the idea behind Man-O-War but I'm not convinced Strakhov2 is the one to get the most mileage our of them.

Well. IF there is a Man o War theme along similar lines to the IF one. I could see double or triple man o wars working with Strak2. Quicken really helps out the Demo Corps and IR goes really well on Shocktroopers.
But I'm not sure if I'd want to last stand man o wars that often.

Last stand is my main issue with trying to get man o war to work with Strakhov2. You get more pikemen than man o war per point and if you use combine you can do a lot of damage without losing your entire squad. I'm not sure the last stand trade is really worth it with Man-O-War. Although I am really curious to see what their team force does.

Same here.
Maybe if they allow assault Kommandos, say the theme is some kind of armoured assault force. They could work then. Problem is, mkII assault Kommandos would make much better last standees.

Question about playing your legion of steel list, which upkeep do you put on which unit, who gets the advance move and how often have you used the kodiak to good effect. In the 3 times I've played the list my jack have been doing mostly nothing so far, the list is so quick (Strakhov with reposition 5 included) that my jacks tend to lag behind. The list I use is the following Strakhov2 Kodiak Juggernaut Iron Fang Kovnik Iron Fang Kovnik Markov Full ulhan Full pikemen +ca Full black dragon +ca So pretty nearly the same list I like the second IFK for the other weapon master counterchage. At that point it comes down to personal preferences, the list do pretty much the same thing.

Normally I Quicken the Regular Pikes and IR the Black Dragons. Normally I also AD the pikes so they can run through any difficult terrain turn1. Lack of normal movement pathfinder is a real pain.
And I went for Kodiaks because they can kind of keep up by running 10. But so far they have been pretty useless except as bait.
I went for the Bears, because last standing great bears are a great thing.

How often do you hotswap upkeep? So far I've been using IR on the Ulhans and have never regretted it. In one game (could have been more I just hadn't thought about it before) on turn two I managed to get charges with both units of pikemen because I hotswaped Quicken between the two units, having two pikemen and a ulhan unit being able to threathen 13'' is very good. It leaves Strakhov at 1 focus after upkeeping an switching, but if he hangs back or is stealth it doesn't seem like it would be a problem. It's not like Strakhov's jack are going to need more than the power up focus, not in that list anyway.

I do occasionally hotswap. I've dropped Quicken to relocate it onto either Hov or Markov once or twice, to either get an assassination off or to move him to a zone faster.
Normally, IR stays on the black dragons until death. I haven't swapped it over to the Uhlans yet, but I undoubtedly will before long.
