I am making a follow up thread to my how to run lists without the Krielstone topic, asking for suggestions on how to run the Krielstone in the best way possible. How much should you brick up with it? What units do you screen it with? What units do you flank with? What is the best way to fuel it and how low do you allow the fury stored inside the stone to drop? Tactics, suggestions, theories, and additional questions are more than welcome and would be of great help in terms of understanding one of the most common fielded pieces in Trollblood lists.

first, one needs to realize that you can not cover everything, and that some pieces are more important than others. Light infantry can be kept ahead of the aura if needed. If you are bringing natural ARM 14, and you are up against a lot of POW 10 shooting or unboostable blasts, or things that rely on continous effects to kill infantry, then you should consider keeping them in the aura a while, but generally speaking, your fennblades will be ahead of the aura.
Your beasts and caster should be in the aura though. Some beasts, especially the EBDT can make a home outside the aura if protected by terrain, and this can help you contest. The aura will rarely cover things that are contesting enemy zones.
General tip on how to fill up the stone is to drop as much as possible in there on turn 1. If you play PoD this means you can "always" drop your whole stack in there. If you have important upkeeps that you have to pay for though, they can be cast and you put the rest of the fury in the stone. you will pretty much always be camping 0 on turn 1. place your caster accordingly! Then you can put more fury in the stone as resources allow, but do not expect it to always be full. usually it will only have a couple of fury in there on later turns.
The stone can usually be kept back behind your stuff so that distance protects it. Blocking LoS with beasts and clouds is super helpful though. Many times i have been up against super fast flank units that runs for 2 turns to try and get to my stone. Then you can move sideways, and if you have Shamans, use the clouds to protect it from LoS. The stone may die very late game, but then it has usually done its job.
Be super careful of things that are not "attacks". Electro leaps are the primary cause of death for the stone. If the stone bearer is killed by such a thing, he can not use self sacrifice. The same goes for grievous wounds. Distance and LoS are the two main ways to stay safe.

Trollock covered the basics of stone use really well there so i thought i add some jank to the discussion. One trick to add to stones strength is to activate stone before caster as this way you can drop fury to stone and have the aura affect larger area. Another useful thou corner case ability come with UA as you can use aura --> run and remove stealth from model rather far away.. and to make it even moar tricky after you have shot the model you wanted to kill dead, you can kill the stone yourself and promote new grunt waaay back to keep the stone safe from RFP shamanigans. Thou this should be used carefully as you lose the auras benefit for that round.

Don't be afraid to attack with the scribes if there's something nearby they have a chance of hurting. Keep in mind it is still a melee infantry unit. Don't be afraid to throw them in harm's way if the situation warrants it. Better to lose the stone completely than the game.

Last game i played with Grissel 1 i put heroic ballad on the stone and cast calamity on a unit of stormblades and had the stone kill most of the unit. My opponent did NOT see that one coming

One of my favorit things in Mk3 is that the stone dudes got 1" melee. One of the saddest things is that the elder lost MAT 6. I used to kill heavies with them with Madrak2 in Mk2. (What do you mean your support unit is MAT 7 P+S 11 Weapon Master?!)

One of the saddest things is that the elder lost MAT 6. I didn't realise! I have cheated quite a few opponents since MK3, thanks for catching that!

I've got two "tricks" to add to the hat:
- Even if it's not a Scribe, the Sorcerer counts towards the number of fury points you can have in the stone, - You can leech fury from the stone during your control phase

Can you imagine the meeting...
Guys We've upped the cost of the stone to 12 points, but I'm still worried it's too strong. I think we need to drop the Mat of the Elder to 5 otherwise Trolls might be definitively broken. What if he charged someone at Mat 6 with a boosted Pow 11? It could be the apocalypse!
