Trencher Mechanics and Longgunners confirmed Manowar Battleengine has Knockdown on its horses (just like the gun carriage) Some new living Cryx pirate thing (hard to understand) for the Sharde Islands theme force Some kind of "new way to play WMH", but smaller in scale is being announced in summer, related to a seasonal league 1 or 2 years ago

Nope, Trencher Mechanics and Trencher Long Gunners are new units that are allowed, going with the "sub-faction" theme.

Thats what they pretty much where design wise. But yeah Like It was said before. Long Gunner Trencher and mechanic trenchers honestly sounds kinda dumb and worthless outside of theme (Which as they mentioned before, are the only reason they even exist). Like even thematic wise. Does your Trencher themed army REALLY need to have everybody wear those hats and have dig in and without it the theme is ruined? Its one of the reasons why the Winter Guard theme is so unrestricted. PP can't release "Winter Guard Man O Wars", because Winter Gaurd are explicitly the most basic part of the Khador army. And ugh..More cavalry with a gun. WHoooooo. The theme better be hot tamales.

Trencher Mechanics and Trencher Long Gunners. I can see this going one of two ways.
1. New Cards for existing models. With storm division everything gets immunity electricity and in Warroom their card is updated to match. It doesn't strain reality that they couldn't just provide a whole other card for a unit if it is taken in theme. I'll call this the Interesting version. It would provide a way to make long gunners different and maybe more powerful because they live in a smaller #DesignSpace. When Will talked about Trencher mechanics he sort of said there would be gobber mechanics and then trencher mechanics which leads me to point #2.
2. New models. There's a release of new models (units) to go along with a theme force. I'll call this ZOMG Pissed Off Player Option! I've been sitting on this full unit of long gunners for years hoping that some change would happen to their card so that they would be somewhat useful on the battlefield. Instead of releasing a fix they drop a few new models on the table and expect us to fork over cash to cover the cost of their poor design. F That!
I'm hoping it's #1. I'm scared it's #2.

So the mini warmachine sounds like that league where you played with 2 units and a solo and no caster. Given the flaws that system had, i hope this one is better.

It's very much #2. Trencher Long Gunners will be a new separate unit, as Trencher Mechanics (that are, in fact, not gobber).
That said, I'm not disliking this interview. There were some good points, and actually I can see with the widening of options the "non-theme" slowly gaining some ground against "themed" due to extreme min-maxing and wonky interactions.
That said, I also think that it will make balancing things a lot harder, since now you'll have to balance the models both into the theme and out of the theme, pretty much the same problem they had with mercenaries and cygnar for the whole MK2, and this thing is going to export the problem to all factions (with their relative themed sub-factions).
I don't say that it couldn't be good to have a game balanced like this, but I also think that it would be an extremely hard thing to acheive I'm not sure that gambling on a so difficult direction is a good idea.
That said, I'll wait and see. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and the chance to prove their ideas worth, but on the other side I'm not going to commit much money on the new models until I see where this is going.

I really don't like the concept of new mechanics and long gunners. I mean, is that really necessary for Cygnar to have two mechanic units? What could they possibly do differently? And why wouldn't classic long gunners be allowed? They're involved in the same sort of fight as trenchers. What theme will classic long gunners be in? Will there be a long gunner theme where you just spam them? Why not just devote a similar amount of dev time to redesigning long gunners or mechanics? If they became good enough to field, there are plenty of players who haven't got them yet.

Im honestly really ticked off at this. I can't want for the next pow pie plate horse battle engine that does 90% the same thing but the gun is slightly different. But if you want a MOW army you gotta buy it cause it hands out free MOW solos!
