Just wanted everyone's opinions on Scattergunners, worth taking and in what lists?

You are probably looking fo two things.
1) Something to allow them to hit more reliably
2) a way to trigger Quick work (usually a to-hit buff is enough)
I think Fortune is a really good spell on them (Doomy 1, Madrak 3), But Mortality (Grim 2), Marked for Death (Grim 1) and Calamity (Grissel 1) are even better if you can apply them.
One important thing about these guys is that they are not really a front line unit. If you can have another unit/beast absorb a charge, these guys are great for charging the enemy models (Fell Caller to MAT 7 is great here) and then Quick work to get more guys. The new Madrak 1 can allow them to charge through their own front line, but i do not think he wants to play in Kriel Company... Borka 1 and Jarl can allow them to charge further, and thus sort of act like a front line that then charges 11.5" killing a few guys and then spraying down some more screening guys. Could be surprisingly effective.
In reality though, they almost never make it in to my lists. They only work for Kriel Company (or non-theme...) and i think they work so much better in conjuration with a fast melee unit such as fennblades. Burrowers could perhaps do a similar job in KC, but then i have to play burrowers... If these guys worked for BoH (and counted towards free points) they would see a lot of play i think. Now... not so much.

EDIT: The scattergunners are NOT included in the CID storm of the north theme. This entire post can be disregarded. Just use Raiders instead. Lol
I imagine bringing them in a Storm of the North list with the Hooch hauler. Within 10" they'll get +1 to attack rolls which will work for both melee and ranged attacks.
I'm only thinking min unit with UA.
They'll also be in great position to clear/unjam the Raiders who will be AD out in front. The same warlocks mentioned above will do this well.
Quick work on both of these units could cause tons of attacks to hit the board... all of which are buffed within 10" of the HHH. Sounds good to me! Lol.

Can they be taken in the northkin theme?
If they can then with colgrimma and "not affliction" they are rat 7(8 with the triple H) auto plinking damage which seems amazing. They also can get +2 Pow from the elder which helps with quick work. Seems like that could make them pretty legit.

Scatter gunners are an anti jam unit. Unfortunately there are not many people throwing units into trolls to jam them up. They can slaughter cryx and troll infantry, but that's about it. Everything else they can't hit or reach.
The positives are their spray and the ua that gives clear + quick work, speed 6. The negatives are .5" in melee range, a stat line that requires all the support to do any work, and a mandatory ua.
Warlocks that help them are: Grim 1/2, Grissel 1/2, madrak1/3, calandra.

My mistake. I remember they were included in the initial Facebook announcement but quickly pulled.

I used to use them quite a bit back in Mk2 when Cryx were running rampant. I have nit yet used them in Mk3 as I don't currently feel that they really have a place.

I don't see their value until you will see a hordes of fast infantry that jamming your stuffs. But you may jamming them instead, or simply put some Bombers and blast them. Some fast infantry have very high DEF so they can't do much against such opponents too.
And the most problem is armor cracking, not anti infantry solution. I don't think that they have a solid place.

The Scattergunners' day is coming...Theme lists for a bunch of other Factions/builds will increase the use of infantry, I suspect. Once there is a target-rich enough environment, the SGs will return! (But for now, mine are shelf-partying with my Skinner/Scouts)

I am not even considering them in my anti gf list. Where my opponent has a lot of models. Perhaps grim1 could make them work but in 9 of 10 I would play fire eaters instead.

Why play fire eaters into gf ? Those models die to any pow 10 attack. With scattergunner you get more models for your points and they will do just fine.

You got 6 dudes for 8 points +4 points for the ua. So it's 7 dudes for 12 points. They got mat/rat 5 so you need a to hit buff for quick work to trigger and then hope that some rat 5 sprays will hit.
