I'm starting minions since I have some already and loved the new teasers. I am looking to play rask for a while and then add in caliban or jaga. I was wondering if anyone could go over the pros and cons for the two different rask variations I see. I have three units of posse but would like to use him as my main list into as much as possible to start my minions foray so was curious as to the pros and cons of each. The
Rask 2 wrestlers 7 min posse Mistspeaker Snapper Pen drake Etc
Vs
Rask Wrastler Spitter Shamblers 3 max posse Totem hunter Etc

The 3 max Posse, Shamblers build leads to a lot of points spent for support, which I don't really like. In addition, just one wrastler doesn't seem to be enough to threaten high ARM lists.
These are the reason why I actually run 2 Wrastlers 2 max Posse 2 min Posse min Ambushers
Max Posse => more models benefit from Fury Miin Posse x2 => one more Posse, more board control, less support bloat Ambushers => I like ambushing

Thanks, I am kind of leaning toward the min variant I have seen because it uses two wrestlers and can spread out but that means I need six more gators lol.

I used this the other day and it was certainly interesting - gonna try it again.
Rask (Blindwater theme) - 2 Wrastler - 1 Bullsnapper (free) 3 max units of posse 1 unit of bog trog shamblers 3 groups of River raiders (one group for free) Totem hunter (free)

3 groups of River raiders (one group for free) Totem hunter (free) Oh right, pp sells river raiders. What is their task in your list? And what is your experience?

To be honest only used this list once (and thus River Raiders once) but my opponent did find them most infuriating. Basic ideas for their use in no particular order:
1- Jam opponents units/block charge lanes making it even harder for opponents to get the drop on the posse and greater chance of a charge. 2 - use their poisoned blades to knock the DEF down on living enemy models (warbeasts in particular) making them easier for the MAT6 posse to hit or more importantly for wrastlers so I don't have to boost to hit and can just concentrate on damage. 3 - Use their guns to get into the back arcs of models and then they either have to waste a turn killing them or suffer a free strike which could in turn poison them reducing their STR/DEF for a round. 4- go jump on flags cos you know 9 solos gives options, and no point using an expensive combat solo to babysit a flag where they have no use, also used to contest zones especially in cover where they get stealth. 5 - Desposable chaff that are fast enough to get where they need to be to contest enemy flags/zones for a turn before dying when you don't neccessarily want to overcommit just yet. 6- create corpses for the bog trog shambler Bokur
With that in mind, after one game 6/9 died they should have tied up a unit of ferox for a turn (my opponent jumped out of combat which we found out later was wrong as you cannot jump if you cannot charge.) put the -2def/str buff onto the skorne battle engine (making it DEF8) same on Tiberon, got a cheeky freestrike on a solo and did 4 damage to him half killing it, killed various paingivers and contested some zones for a while whilst scoring my own flag.
So happy to give them another go, they are more utility than killy but by no means would I swear by them yet as still exploring the options within blindwater. Possibly want to try 2 bog trog trawlers with a mist speaker.

I've had a lot of luck with the following two lists, but this was a few months back when everyone was freaking out about Ret and Khador. Since nothing is considered "viable" unless it deals with Ghost Fleet, you might need to sub in a vault for a unit of Posse or wrongeye. That said, wrongeye really helped make the multiple units of Posse more than most lists could handle with starcrossed.

The second is the Rask list I prefer, just with Mist Speaker instead of Bull Snapper.
Just take Calaban for Ghost Fleet.

I haven't played many games with this but I love it. Shamblers are all sorts of annoying. Posse is everywhere. Rask protects his army well with feat and veil, then let's people have it with BC and fury.
A raged furried snapper is no joke. Pow 18 charges with sustained attack. Mini missile. Vet leader for rask and and the shamblers was great. Using hand of glory boosting if needed on a jack then poping it with rasks gun to take it out for a turn was clutch.
Then like Gaston said. Calaban with a vault for GF.

Not positive on my two units yet. I tried croaks. But only have one unit. So if I went in them I could take two max croaks.

Thanks everyone! I am planning to try Gastons version and the min version to see which I prefer. (3 max will be first since that's what I own). I will be using caliban for my second list eventually so I am not focusing on ghost fleet tech with Rask. I like to play the primary warlock as much as possible so Rask will get run through the gauntlet for a while and then I will figured caliban out.
I do need some pig stuff though so if I could do a quick side venture that would be good. I've seen Gaston's caliban brigand list and I've seen one with brigands and nyss. How does the 3 ranged units list work out if you pair caliban with Rask it intrigued me. (Guessing 2 units of brigands and vault is better but I am curious)

Just be careful and do not give the Shamblers tough with the Witch Doc or Rask might end up dying.

I certainly wouldn't discourage you from it, but I personally would prefer the Vault. From my dusty memory, I believe that started as a Maelok WTC 2016 list, but Calaban is basically better Maelok. I am toying with swapping the Brigands with Calaban to be Croaks. That would make the list in theme, nets me 5 points (post CID), then another couple of freebies. I'm not sure that it actually is better, because Brigands have a lot of natural benefits over Croaks, but it is something I want to get to whenever real life allows me.

First of all Gaston thank you guys for the podcast I have listened to the most recent 4-5 episodes at least twice trying to get the feel for stuff. It's a great listen and I anxiously await the next one.
Secondly, that is also what I was thinking with regards to caliban. I already one unit of croaks and I think the extra deployment would make up for the benefits you get from brigands. I feel like you want to reach ghost fleet asap and that would help. (This is all theory but I would also like to try that route) I really liked that old wtc list though it looked very cool. How would you build the croak caliban list? I may pick up an additional h it and try it first since I have everything except vault and one unit of croaks.(I'm still pigless at the moment)
