I'm sorry, but just thought of something - unless Farrow are immune to mind control Skorne can control them just fine thanks to mortitheurgy >_<

I feel like if these CID changes go through (my main factions being mercs, and minions) it may be time to go back to "that other game" for 8th edition. I wonder if PP knows that's what they're actively doing? Hah. I feel like people sometimes suffer a severe loss of perspective sometimes whenever PP makes a mistake. This stuff is annoying, but it's small fry next to the crap Games Workshop used to do while I played their games. Minions are still an official faction. The models are still legal models in the current edition. The situation is therefore better here than it would be if I tried to go back to playing GW games with the models at my disposal.

The models are still legal models in the current edition. The situation is therefore better here than it would be if I tried to go back to playing GW games with the models at my disposal. I actually looked pretty hard at 8th when it came out, the models are really, really excellent. Eventually however, I reached the conclusion that while it is an improvement from 7th, it is still going to end up a much shallower game than WM/H as well as an easier game to "solve" from a list building perspective. I can see it rapidly becoming repetitive and boring. Just my opinion, but people should play what they enjoy. Insofar as the perspective of PP making a mistake, we're getting past the point of one mistake and more towards the point of them seemingly riling the community up with some nonsense in every single CID cycle. Since January, they have disbanded the PGs, neutered the forums, enforced Widget control for some reason. Gameplay-wise SR17 did not enter CID looking promising (in fairness this may change), they said that Merc/Minion themes were created with all models in mind, but it was fine to add Merc/Minions to other themes willy nilly, then they gave the Minion faction to Skorne. On the balance of this, there are Grymkin, and the CID cycles for Grave Diggers, BEs, Bane Theme, and Northkin which I think all have been positive experiences. The frustration and sadness isn't from any single mistake or announcement, but from the continuation of them and they seemingly aren't close to really smoothing out the edition change a full year later. It isn't selling the armies, or rage quitting for 40k, or exploding online, the result is that it saps enthusiasm and desire to play. Personally, this week I finally had some time and was going to make it out to play Arkadius gunline with Gun Boars and pick up a couple of Battle Boars to chase the Azahul dream. They dropped the announcement, and I just shook my head and went home instead. I swung by the old PP forums randomly, and saw several posts from new players to my area asking for stores and information, and no one had ever bothered to respond to them. Our local tournament organizers faded out, and we went from monthly events to no events.

I play every Friday and Sunday, and am trying to get the enthusiasm to go out and play my piggies this week, but am very disheartened, and found myself building khador lists earlier this week. I'm still up in the air as of now, and I had been on the fence about grymkin, awaiting the final rules, but this is a possible push into that direction for me.
As for what Gaston said about CID, I'm both very excited and very nervous at the same time about factions I play going into CID. Example Khador: there is so much salt about the price of khador heavies, but overall they don't perform above that price point, and options are relatively limited when compared to other factions. Are people going to be so salty that they influence the designers to make khador jacks over costed like mk2 and half of them currently? Or will the 2/3s of the faction that currently see no play be addressed? Are minions going to get a full CID look to try and counter balance what has just been done by giving all our beasts and both subfactions to skorne? Or is it going to be more "exciting stuff is in the pipeline" rhetoric? Will we ever see farrow valkaries or gargantuans?
I'm usually one to stay away from the doom and gloom train but I'm edging closer to the station than ever before.

Not much, he just said that with the minion command/theme book they'd be going through CID but they'd be considering bumping it up the schedule (the CID, not the book itself) if there's enough demand.

I like this new themeforce. I have waited so long for new warlocks, and now I get 5 new ones with very interesting abilities and support. Honestly, I think the community would be a lot less mad if Mionions could play the theme as well. Maybe make a special rule that allows you to pair this with a minion theme for tournament purposes?

I tried asking if it could be made available to minions and they said no.

That's fine with me. I play Minions for the pigs, not the Skorne.

"It's not as bad as games workshop at their worst" isnt exactly glowing praise. Honestly it's not as bad as Games Workshop at their best. It's not even as bad as Privateer Press in Mark 2, and I enjoyed the crap out Mark 2. Mark 3 is phenomenal. The game has never had better balance. I play against world class players on a semi-regular basis and have never felt like Minions were able to compete as well as they can now. My sourness at a theme force that isn't even out of playtesting is a small, small thing when taken in that context.

That's fine with me. I play Minions for the pigs, not the Skorne. Sure, but I've gotten married, deployed twice, bought and sold two houses, and had a child since the last Minions warlock came out so at this point I wouldn't turn my nose up at 5 new Warlocks to work into my tournament roatation. Honestly, I see no reason why this can't be a dual faction theme, but that just might be me entering the third stage of the grieving process or something.

If it's the Warlocks you find attractive then you can just... buy them and play the theme? Literally all you miss out on is the capacity to pair them together at tournaments, but there's five of them. That's like a whole new sub-faction.
