I came to the same conclusion. My initial theory list had 3 road hogs instead of 2 and 1 but I needed to know I could kill a colossal. Hutchuk is an interesting idea. I don't like Commandos though.
Does anyone have advice for play and list selection into Circle these days? All I've played against this edition has been Baldur2/woldwrath, which should generally be considered a bad drop into minions. Kaya3 looks like their next strongest caster aside from Wurmwood.

Do Road Hogs over War Hogs with her, trust me I have been down this path. I love road hogs. Finding 2 points for the swap is really tight though. Also I felt there was more than enough in the list that the two sprays weren't adding much.

2 and 1 is a better middle ground right? Especially when they're my only heavy hitters. I may have to run Arkadius after all, I'm trying to get my hands on efaarit scouts but shipping is not so hot in SE Asia. I didn't want to run Arkadius because I didn't want to confuse the hell out of the poor Thai players 😂
After looking into ghost fleet more I think my best course of action is 'dodge or clock.' I have tech into it with Helga, Carver and Arkadius, but none of them are *good*.

I'd call that "playable" more than "good"

I have to submit lists tomorrow and my friend coming from Australia hasn't received the Efaarit yet. I'll probably be going Carver/Arkadius after all which is the competitive pig pairing anyway... With my re-jigged Carver list and Arkadius as the other option I'd certainly go Carver against Ghost Fleet.

Carver and Arkadius it is! I might try and get Helga rolling rolling for Malaysia. I'd really like to give her a good try before SR2017.

I´d run Carver because of high ARM and Pathfinder for all of your battle group. But if they also have Una2 in their pairing... Well, I didn´t play against her, but on the paper Una2 seems to be a bad matchup for Carver.

Turns out I didn't have the models for my Carver list. Boo! Had to change it quite a bit. Ended up running: Carver 2 war hogs Splatter boar Battle boar 2 razor boars Targ 2x max brigands+UA Razorback 2 efaarit Maximus I wasn't entirely happy with this list but it was functional. The Arkadius 'nothing but beasts' list was the other one. On to the event:

First game was against Retribution with Ossyan and Rahn on incursion. Rahn is the obvious pick and Arkadius hates him but both sides had a wall which would make it manageable, so I rolled with Arkadius. He didn't know pigs and picked Ossyan. This is my pic after my first turn running. Note that I primal shock one of my goraxes turn 1 to let it charge for free. His turn 1 he moves up but doesn't quite get in range to shoot, just drifting blasted earth at me from the noisy cricket. Some road hogs assault, some full boar, all clearing screening mage hunters. The war hogs would now have charge lanes so I primal the two on the left facing down Discordia and Hypnos (one already has forced evolution), run the third war hog around the blasted earth, move Arkadius up, psycho surgery and feat. The road hogs all go to chumps to engage as many models as they can and dump fury. The running war hog doesn't make it to a target but he gets near the noisy cricket. The primalled hogs get into position to charge. I realise if I reposition behind the wall I won't be able to force the primalled and forced evolution hog going into Hypnos. He has a noisy cricket. I choose the wall. The war hogs both aggression dial and go into their targets and both somehow fail to kill. The wall is the terrain at the bottom of the pic. He is a little screwed here. He feats and has his noisy cricket knock down the hog that is fighting Discordia. He also shoots the one fighting Hypnos, misses then knocks down the jack as its movement is down. The knocked down hog is easily killed by a few shots. He decides to shoot up my goraxes instead of the engaged heavies but doesn't kill either due to hit rolls and they hyper aggressive to nice spots. Disco does a bunch of damage with its spray but nothing psycho surgery can't fix. From here its basically clean up. A gorax and road hog go to the flags, the other gorax kills some stormfalls, road hogs spray things, a war hog frenzies and another flails against an aspis because I activated it before healing. Not much more to it, win on scenario a turn later.

Game 2 was on Outlast with either Zaadesh2 or Makeda2. We didn't know how many rounds the event would be so really wanted to get both lists used. So did my opponent and we ended up Carver vs Makeda2 with all the ferox. One unit of brigands put prey on their opposing ferox, the others hit despoiler as I didn't want to have the ferox just switch sides. I had first turn and ran very aggressively, he was a bit cagier to stay in cover and near Makeda. This is start of my second turn. Carver casts quagmire on a razor boar, lucky shot on the razorback, batten and backs up. The brigands move up and actually do pretty well at effective rat 8 pow 14. He makes 4 toughs and 2 stay deaths. The razorback shoots one who toughs. The razorboar gets primal from the battle boar, charges into btb with 2 ferox blocking in despoiler and breaks one who toughs. The splatter boar with Targ drifts acid into them, corroding 5 and despoiler. The efaarit do a decent shot into cyclops brute but end up further up than I'd like. Next turn 2 corrosions go out, 2 get kept with stay death and one quagmired cat dies. The cats walk and jump around, killing a few brigands and the razorboar and engaging some more. Rhadeim kills an Efaarit, Orin kills the other. Not much else. The brigands brawl with the cats (who are their prey and Carver is nearby) and massacre them, except tough and stay death mean none die. The splatter boar and razorback misses. Leftmost war hog can get to his cyclops brute, in this matchup that is very valuable so it gets primal and kills it. Left side brigands kill Orin and flail against Rhadeim. Battle boar and Maximus hang out with Carver who casts batten and puts quagmire on my second hog who runs into two cats who were held back by the razorboar and are blocking in Despoiler. The other ferox unit charges, killing the few brigands in the zone and the splatter boar allowing Makeda to walk into the zone, feat and score. Despoiler easily kills the quagmire war hog without charging (every attack crit). A few brigands die around the place. War hog frenzies. Carver casts batten and does a reasonable job of shooting the cats. Battle boar and Maximus go punching, still not killing any. The brigands on the right are starting to clear a cat or two with her running out of stay deaths and they reposition into the zone. The ones on the left jam in Rhadeim and take a few pot shots- I was hoping to have a go at despoiler by now to cycle prey. Razorback continues to do nothing. More brigands die- I'm running out at this point. Despoiler easily kills the war hog- in killing both hogs he has had one attack that *wasn't* a critical. That's about it, he isn't able to clear the zone again but even more jamming with cats. Carver feats and charges despoiler. Rolls poorly on the damage and misses an attack so he isn't that badly hurt. I try to kill a few key cats for an assassination run but no luck, too many toughs and Makeda goes to 0 fury on stay death. I am jammed in and realise I can't finish despoiler and Rhadeim can also get to Carver. My last activation is Maximus who I couldn't disengage. He walks around a cat, survives the free strike, and takes a swing at Makeda. She dies in one hit. She'd had to cut a few times to keep going with stay death. Super blurry photo.

Hahaha that's beautiful. What a win.
But yeah, that list is basically why I'm not unhappy to be testing new Midas lists right about now. Bone Grinders basically guarantee that you never see a Makeda and she's so often paired with Zaadesh or another 'beast Warlock.

Game 3 was Entrenched with either Baldur 1 or 2 with similar lists. I was a bit concerned about keeping Arkadius alive vs the mass of woldstalkers as I would really want aggravator or watcher up. I decided Carver would be able to do it and batten would be golden. Baldur2 vs Carver! Keep in mind batten was up every turn. I got first turn, put prey at woldstalkers opposite the brigand units and ran at full speed to get into scenario. One unit of brigands was moving to contest his zone later while the majority of my army was central around Carver. The woldstalkers with prey ran to switch sides and he ran forward, putting a woldstalker behind a wall in front of my main force. The woldwrath killed a razorboar needing a 15 to kill and brought Maximus to two boxes on a 14. My brigands on the left going for contesting walked and dug in, on the right I fired a bunch into the woldstalker behind the wall along with the efaarit (who got back strikes) and everything missed. The splatter boar killed two shifting stones, conveniently making clouds my hog could hide behind. I think Maximus charged into a gallows grove. The brigands who were going for the zone were massacred between shooting and geomancy spells. The woldstalker behind the wall had to run to contest my zone. Woldwrath killed a brigand or two with shooting. Baldur feated, scored his zone and put up a rock wall. Maximus got shot in the face. I killed the woldstalker in my zone and contested his zone with the last surviving brigand. Not much else happened. We went 1-1. Woldstalker killed the brigand on the left, just down to the warlord who passed tough. He chucked hunters mark onto my splatter boar and the woldwrath killed it and got my battle boar to 1hp- on its spirit! Woldwrath was contesting my zone so it went to 2-1. Carver feated and he and the war hog killed the woldwrath (it was too far for roots of the earth). The other war hog killed 2 woldstalkers and used overtake to get into his zone. The warlord and other brigand unit did a bit of damage and killed a solo. The efaarit managed to continue missing. 2-2. Megalith and Baldur killed the contesting hog, the other woldstalkers killed the battle boar and the lone warlord and that was about it. I was winning attrition now. 3-2. My surviving brigands were able to prey megalith so between the efaarit, razorback, hog wild and charges megalith went down. The last hog ran to the zone and Carver shot down a woldstalker. He had one shifting stone, a woldstalker and Baldur left. 3-3. Baldur kills the hog to take his zone (he had 5 wurm tokens). He then said 'the woldstalker can run to zone and I win' (Carver was alone in my zone). I pointed out the objective was alive. He went 'OH ****.' Instead had the woldstalker shoot the objective. Rolled 6,6,5 on damage then 6,6,3. Ok. I lose. The woldstalker was standing near the razorback, he was cheering and holding it for this shot.

Game 4 was Linebreaker (the dead scenario) and my opponent had Ossyan and Hylena. I'd prefer Carver into Hylena but he'd be destroyed by Ossyan where Arkadius should manage both. Ended with Arkadius vs Hylena. I got first turn and powered forward. Arkadius set up shop behind my objective. I wasn't too concerned about his shooting except for the Helios. His first turn was uneventful, most stuff ran, the manticores put down covering fires in front of my beasts. I wasn't going to get much of a feat that turn as Arkadius was boxed in and I had no beacons for my feat and I wasn't going to win a shooting fight. My beasts just ran around the place, using terrain, the objective and other models to screw with Helios' pushes. His turn he started doing some actual shooting. My forward road hog took some hits and hyper aggressived forward, out of charge but in a good spot for feat. My rightmost war hog was pushed 3 times by Helios behind some rough terrain. A war hog dies. A griffon charges into my right gorax and does some damage. Finally I get the chance to feat. The right gorax chucks primal onto my forced evolution war hog and tries to throw the griffon but misses. The war hog jammed behind the terrain gets in and kills it. Other gorax moves to position and throws primal onto the forward road hog. Arkadius gives a road hog raw adrenaline and primal, psycho surgery and feat. Here's pre feat activation. Most stuff uses the threat extension. The road hog with primal gets a hit in, the left gorax charges my objective for a little bunker for Arkadius to hide behind. Primalled and forced evo war hog kills a hydra and puts a decent hit into the colossal before being pushed. Road hog with adrenaline and primal goes into his objective, the spray hits Hylena and does a about 10 damage despite deceleration and megamittens aura. Also hurts megamittens. Objective dies and he sprints a bit. Other two road hogs kill a manticore and beat up the phoenix, one sprinting back. End of turn: Hylena's fire goes out, megamittens burns to death. He feats this turn. Helios and manticore kill both war hogs and hurt central road hog. Phoenix kills the forward left road hog. Sylys becomes a frenzy snackrifice. Things suddenly look bad. My right gorax frenzies into Helios. Central road hog eats Sylys. Arkadius puts crippling grasp on the phoenix. My remaining road hog backs up and sprays his phoenix, doing some damage. Manticore kills my forward road hog, Helios walks around the gorax and kills it then pushes my last road hog waaaay out of the way, phoenix runs forward. Road hog can't quite get into Helios due to the forest clipping the charge lane and the gorax sure as hell can't kill it, plus there's another manticore around. Hylena is on about 5hp so the gorax finishes the phoenix to make a lane, road hog goes full boar and runs at her. Arkadius goes for primal shock assassination, gets her to 2 or 3 HP. Helios drags him in with shooting and kills him in one unboosted punch. Pretty happy with how I played this game, I made 2 critical errors. The road hog going for the objective didn't need primal, I still have mk2 road hogs and actual scenarios in my head. The war hog that killed the griffon should have hung back and not powered forward with feat. I didn't realise Helios swung at pow 23 to kill multiple hogs.
