Oh, and yep, ArmorCast is still around. After buying some stuff years ago, I was surprised to see they're located only an hour from my house! In Parma, Ohio. I'm pretty hooked on cinematic bits to liven-up models and help with immersion.

Thanks! The red base is actually VMC Cav Brown. The highlight is Citadel Tuskgor Fur (a toned-down pink), further brought up in value at the extreme edges with Midland Flesh. The net effect is a color palate that avoids the usual harsh pink or orange highlights that one often sees on red models, neither of which I care for much.
The colors used here sort of combine the usually-hard highlight choice of pink vs. orange... and bring in a slightly tan/ peach element instead. The washes are sepia or sepia-red mixtures.

I tricked-out the chariot conversion with the needed patriotic regalia... and some smoke bomb launchers. It got too busy-looking but hey, gotta honor the Motherland! Sorscha is coming along slowly, that Oppression Tanker still needs basing, and Dragos needs finished. He has a temporary head swap because I still hate painting eyes and have yet to get to his melon. (His unpainted head is currently glaring at me, so I'll get to that soon.) In any case, the Korps has made gains. A small victory for the North.

Oh to think back at all the free time i had when i was in school... 🤣 I'm with you there, brother. Being "on the other side of the podium" nowadays differs a bit from my grad school years. You know what they say about professors: We have lots of freedom... the freedom to work whichever 60 hours of the week we want! But spring break is here, I still benefit from it, and I made at least a little progress...

OMG has it been SEPTEMBER since I posted on this project? The school year is always a Female Dog; it pulls me from the hobby. Well, it's spring break here so I'm posting now to hold myself socially accountable to finish Sorscha 3 or Dragos. ...And put up some pics here.
I think the extra slain 'jack head on Dragos' back and the added viking horn on his waist work pretty well with his repose. Pics soon.

Not saying this is you, Charistoph, but it might be helpful: For years I felt like I was highlighting, washing, and dark-lining (separating parts) quite sufficiently. (I mostly just black-washed a few parts.) I told myself that less contrast and lining were "more realistic" and I didn't want to screw up my work. Then I tried to embrace the whole "paint like you got a pair" and pushed all of the above to a much greater degree. It was uncomfortable but I think I'm better for it. Maybe give it a go.
PS I can definitely see areas of washing on your stuff, and it does help for the most part. I just also think you could up your game even more, without spending dozens more hours.
PPS I'm also looking forward to seeing the creature hunt game models you mentioned.

Those Tharn are colorful! The bases are a neat contrast, too - both in color and in the fact that their prettiness exaggerates the ugly vicious Tharn themselves.

I'd feel remiss if I didn't chime in to say I have a large Rhulic army with a good number of conversions, including Rhulic-ized mods of a number of human and elf merc solos. The latter I did out of impatience for new releases and with an Irregulars idea in mind. I consider it my main force in sheer number of fully painted models (although my Khador force is close).
PS Not sure why, but I do keep tabs on Rhulic rules despite playing rarely. I guess I just want to know my army isn't weak, out of a sense of pride. lol

Yea, it pains me that the people that "left" the game but still hang out shitting on something a lot of us still enjoy wont be happy until PP puts out a Press Release saying "Yup, you were right all along, the games was shit back in 2016 and we just didn't listen to you, so we're closing up shop" ... Bottom line, you can't get angry about something that you don't give a shit about. [ emphasis mine -EHL] Maybe some of those bitter clingers, those people who "won't be happy" are actually hoping that PP does come full circle, admit they Firetrucked up, and start taking steps to grow the game again. ... This is very astute, shiver. Despite my current disappointment, I for one will remind myself to praise new, corrective steps by PP when they are taken. (C'mon, new fluff!)

Saw this link on Reddit. Not sure what to call it - a video-supported podcast episode maybe - from a guy normally doing bat reps. After 15 years of reading the fluff, I like what this guy has done. Nice summary. I'll listen while I paint. With all the negativity surrounding PP's mistakes (like diminished fluff offerings), I found this a positive influence on my mood. Hoping for more of it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fB6aM-P1iY&feature=youtu.be

Kill or simmer, the PP forums are like a ghost town, with tumble weeds rolling through on occasion. Even the painters/ hobbyists have a small fraction of their former audience; not even enough for me to bother. Not knowing much about GW - and looking at what cainuslupus said above (and what others have said), it does look like many of the same mistakes have been made.
I'm also hopeful, though, that the exodus of PP staff will somehow translate into that "hard course correction". One that will take some notice of the constructive suggestions like here on these boards.

I've heard that a number of companies are looking at their actual ".com" web site itself as becoming secondary to their social media channels. Maybe PP is no different. That is, PP's salient identity - for a particular social media user - may BE that user's favored channel. For example, PP may be perceived largely as their Instagram page by some.
As a guy who uses FB under my own identity for work, it's not easy for me to go join a Khador or Merc group with custom-created emails/ accounts, etc. just for my hobby stuff. (Or maybe I'm just old and unaware and it's actually easy to do that, keeping it all separate.) A dedicated company site and forum for my hobby interests just worked better. I may be a rarity.
It'd be interesting to see the increase in Privateer FB traffic vs. the loss in PP web site / forum traffic. Not to mention the correlation with actual sales numbers. I wonder if Will Shick, as business director, did these analyses.

Well, with so much information being put on on social media, there is little reason to go to their actual website. The forums are more for hobby posting (though, there is a Facebook page for that), Rules questions, and sometimes army lists (again, often put forth on faction Facebook pages). In other words, with little reason to actually GO to those sites, it is only natural that traffic decrease over time. Yep, I found the dramatically declining traffic on the PP forums unsurprising. They willfully killed them. On the other hand, the general decline in traffic to their main site was disheartening to me. I assumed that if FB was so important, the main PP site wouldn't be so negatively affected. I thought the social media focus was meant to drive traffic to PP proper. But that was an assumption by me.

LOL
As far as what I want, again in reference to an earlier post...
- Bring back fully functioning forums (even the painting portion suffered d/t lack of general traffic). I'll come back. - Bring back regular story-advancing fluff. Online is fine. I'll pay... especially for Seacat stuff. - Tease the Infernals periodically, model by model. I'll watch with curiosity. - Reduce CID to new models, and maybe twice yearly for legacy stuff. I'll buy more stuff if I have a stable handle on what my purchases will mean over the next year or two.
I'm no competitive player, and don't want to be, but in the name of positivity toward a PP turn-around I think these look like constructive suggestions.

I see that the thread has moved on to be more focused on power creep but regarding the OP and talk of the US market vs. Europe, here are some web stats. Not making any inferences right now, just showing data. ...and the PP forums data...
