I've switched over to Gunnbjorn and have a couple questions. First is he a good enough drop into ghost fleet? (If not who do we look to?)
Secondly, I have been playing Doomy3 as my other list but am still unsure of which list i should put the MK in. The two options I've considered with Gunnbjorn are two bombers and Dozer or drop a bomber and get MK in there. With Doomshaper3 I have been running 2 mauler, 2 EBDT, and Mulg but a MK is really good with feat and scrolls. if I had to choose I would think 2 bomber option might be better with Gunnbjorn because of some cryx resurgence. Ret also could be taking some infantry soon.

By "Ghost fleet", do you mean the version with incorporeal spam (ghost pirates and battle engines and so on), or the version that is just millions of zombie pirates that come back?
In either case though, Explosivo is a superb spell to have access to. D&S could charge a nearby pirate (if it is incorporeal, use the kriel stone to remove that) and eat it, and then shoot 2 4" AoEs with boosted magical blast damage. This is very efficient, and ar ARM 21, the pirates have trouble killing him. The Mountain King is also REALLY good in this role. Assault in and spray (with boosted hit rolls from guided Fire) a couple of dudes. They explode, potentially killing a couple more. Then he punches something and gets another massive spray (still boosted hit). He is a magnificent piece for sure! My current Gunnbjorn list has no MK, but i have played it before. I love Gunny both with and without it tbh.
Doomy 3 has obvious synergies with a MK and his feat, but i think you will get better mileage by playing several heavies rather than one big base. The other heavies benefit from his spells way more, and on the turn where you get free animi, you get more free animi. I am no expert on doomy 3 though. I have only played him a little in Mk3. I doubt he will be your Ghost fleet drop in any case though.

Thanks, I was referring to ghostly ghost fleet. That's primarily the version I've seen. That and blast immune Khador have been my bane lately. I enjoy beast heavy lists and haven't went the band of heroes route so it's probably just me but I've been working on combatting those two things.

Then i guess the MK is a great piece for your Gunnbjorn, since he does not care about blast immune and can still mow down infantry like a boss. He is also good at murdering Khador jacks if they play that variant of list.

Holy crap, it had not occurred to me that Explosivo's text changed in the move to Mk3, or really just how much it has changed. I didn't realize it worked on sprays now. Well, time to give that a whirl.

That was the worst worded spell or ability in the entirety of MK2. I do not think they ever knew what it was supposed to do. I wrote an FAQ for mercs in MK2. Durgen had Explosivo too. Under the question "how does explosivo work" i answered "no one knows" and that was pretty accurate
