Anyone playing Mo in the post-Oblivion theme world? Or have ideas? I need to do something different, and I've always liked the idea of the Dessert Walker (sic). As usual, don't care if it's going to win tournaments, but hoping to construct something that won't entirely embarrass itself while getting Mr Mo on the table.
Don't own any Wolf Sworn. My male Tharn limited to one min unit of Blood Pack somewhere in a dark corner with no paint, held over from the dregs of a bulk buy.
Mo and Bloodtrackers would seem to get along nicely, but that would limit me to Dev Host and living beasts.
Mo and Geomancers and Woldwyrds would seem to get along nicely, but that would limit me to Bones (and no living infantry to feed Sands...)
Mo and Secret Masters?! I'm trying to take the idea seriously but...
(Not play a theme list? What do you think this is, 2nd ed?)

Played around with it today, and thinking of something like:
[Theme] Bones of Orboros [Mohsar 1] Mohsar the Desertwalker [+27] - Megalith [20] - Wold Guardian [16] - Woldwarden [14] - Woldwyrd [9] - Woldwyrd [9] Blackclad Stoneshaper [0(3)] Blackclad Stoneshaper [0(3)] Sentry Stone & Mannikins [0(5)] Sentry Stone & Mannikins [5] Shifting Stones [0(3)] Shifting Stones [0(3)] Celestial Fulcrum [19] Well of Orboros [10]
(Probably take a Wayfarer from the Well.)

Are you sure Megalith and Warden are the way to go? Geomancy Cravasse isnt bad, but its pretty expensive for a short range gun-beast. Perhaps you could do another Guardian for punch and then just more Wyrds?

Mohsar is a lot of fun. Glad to see interest in him. Unfortunate that it sounds like you are going to half play him or self restrict yourself to his list options. Given this, you probably shouldn't play Mohsar, TBH. If you want something different that you can not embarrass itself, Mohsar isn't the go to guy for something like this. He takes a ton of reps more than usual to get used to. Pillars are wonky and no longer provide the defense to him or his army the way they used to and in some very special cases give your opponent extra threat. Theme wise I find Dev Host and Wild Hunt the most open for him. - Bones is a good list, but you are missing out on a lot of his play. Sands is a fantastic spell given some of the animi we have. So I would select Bones last. If Cravase is what you want to play then just go with Bald 2.
- Sec. Masters is a fun spot for him, but druids are too poor of a unit to spend the 10 points as Sands targets. Generally this isn't the theme for him. While the minions can keep him safe from shooting, there is a bit of a point crunch in selection and that isn't the spot Mohsar want's to find himself in.
- Dev Host and Wild Hunt are the best spots for him given the ambushing units. Dev Host is where I like him best at the moment.
In Wild Hunt the WoO really like Curse of Shadows as do RoO. CRA shots at pow 12 with 2 mans feel really nice when they take 2 shot each and you can understand why they start at only pow 8. RoO also provide a nice bunker to always Sand back to. The list doesn't have the staying power of Dev Host and generally I find with Pillars being able to contest Mohsar doesn't mind a longer game, which is why I prefer Dev Host. I have not tried it with Skinwalkers but I can't really think of where I want them without an armor buff. You can make standard Dev Host lists with Mohsar and throw in the Bloodpack you have on the shelf as they are strong with Pow 16 Shots thanks to Curse. Standard as in B&C, LoTF & Cauldron. Blood trackers are nice here too as well as Blood Weavers. His beast selection should include Wild Argus and I like a Pureblood as Ghostly and Mirage can get into some fun spots. You should also have 1 set of stones as well as the Blood Shaman because a Fury 8 lock getting -1 to cast something and then another 1 from Maltreatment is nice. Hermit is a nice addition too. Good luck!

Perhaps you could do another Guardian for punch and then just more Wyrds? Not at all sure; I'm in the wild speculation phase. In addition to Crevasse, I was thinking of the forest wall from the Warden's Wild Growth and two Sentries, combined with the two huge bases, to keep the old man safe from shooting. And I do love Megs in general. But mostly I was looking at what I have available for models. I do have one other Guardian, though no more Wyrds. I could drop Megs for the second Guardian and a solo, which I'll admit sounds good now that I've typed it. To upgrade the Warden I'd have to find 2 points, which is pretty tough; don't want to lose a Sentry Stone.
Side note: it's interesting to me how the themes + req points restrict list building. Because your small-point choices are often all free reqs, you're left with only large blocks of points to move around. Small price to pay for all the free stuff, but still interesting.

I'm by no means set on Bones. Don't think I have enough Minions to pull off Secret Masters, but some of these Dev Host ideas sound like fun. I love my Bloodtrackers, and while I have no Weavers yet, I've always wanted some. I play a lot of Purebloods, so no worries there. Don't own B&C but am not averse. Just finishing painting my Cauldron. I'll have a go at putting together a list and see where I get.
Question about B&C. I used to see a lot of hype for Death Wolves in a similar sort of role, now it's all B&C. Is the one just that much better than the other? Or is the role really different and I've just misunderstood?

B&C have a pretty defined roll compared to D-Wolves. I won't speak about Dwolves as I have minimal use with them in Dev Host.
Brighid can prey a target and hit reliably, the weapon master shot can do some solid damage over a few turns. Caul can hit like a Warp Wolf. Don't let Brigt die though, you'll lose a lot of what the unit can do.
With Treewalker you can get them into a solid spot and wait out oncoming targets a bit.

For bones and mohsar, the shifting stone ua is worth a look. It gives you some sort of option to sands to.

For bones and mohsar, the shifting stone ua is worth a look. It gives you some sort of option to sands to. Sure he's a trooper. There are few instances he wants to get that close. Using a UA really means Mohsar only going all in. To note, Moshar won't have a Wild Argus here. Moshar won't have Divine Inspiration from the Blood Shaman. I'm not sure why he would go all in here to be honest. But yes, UA is a trooper.

There are more uses for sands than applying Doppler. Letting you curse something then retreat to a position where you won't get punched to death is a good reason. It's not the greatest option in the world, but it's better than nothing.

Most lists have vital support models that are vulnerable to autohitting pow10-14 (curse of shadows, hermit). I would say that it is a threat.
