I think my math might be off, but isn't 2d3 not as good as 1d6+1? Nope, you are correct. I forgot to include the +1.

Even still, I do understand wanting it to be more stable. I truly think the d6+1 is a form of encouragement to get butcher in there. Once you get seven focus, it can really set an opponent back

Once you get seven focus, it can really set an opponent back It is encouragement, but the problem is that you have a non-functional caster unless you either roll really well by pure luck first or your opponent hands you his models to kill without either shooting Butcher2 to death first or murdering him during the turn he is overexposed, before he gets his 7 focus. At least, that has tended to be my experience.

Pfft. Who needs more than 2 focus? All you need to do is boost a blunderbuss shot to trigger Conferred Rage!

But what else is new, they don't get or even have much interest in Khador compared to other factions were they are HAPPY to rework things entirely..... Michael has covered this REALLY well but I would only add that it would be nice if Butcher's ability to kill the three models was a surer deal - - anti-tough on Lola, better overtake mechanic, SOMETHING so that if my opponent, for example, sends in a wave of immortals I could reliably kill three of them without worryiing that I am now dead because he made 2 tough rolls and Butcher is now facing a bunch of vengeance procing statues. Oh and for some christmas cheer look at the reworking of Makeda and tell me why Butcher2 is the way he is.

The problem is that B3 is a LOT less viable than he was a year ago as the increasingly power of huge based models has encouraged their use and he HATES huge based models on the table (to the point that I wonder if he can be still played.

I think your experience is unique to you. I haven’t seen many huge bases lately, except for the local tournament guy running MacKay...

I think your experience is unique to you. I haven’t seen many huge bases lately, except for the local tournament guy running MacKay... Me and everyone else in Southern California Meta Murder Churches in at least every Menoth Pair Double Derps and or Double SG (or both) in every skorne Pair Skarre3 in most Cryx Pairs Of course Vulcans in every CG pair (if not in both lists). Railless as well. I haven't played seen the new Ret Sleds but figure I will. They DEFINITELY usually have at least one Coll in at least one pair. Maybe it is because we have folks very willing to find (or be) Early release ninja's? But yes, these things are common right now.

The last tournament I ran in there were quite a few of the huge birds in circle, and a Skarre3 (I think that's the battle engine caster?), mixed with some colossals. It was a good amount, but I don't think it was any more than I saw in Mark 2. Certainly more than Mark 3 so far, but this edition does seem to be balancing out in what people are taking.
