Just getting started with the game, how does this sound for a decent list? Main goal is Hellmouths protect flanks, scourge or Raek headbutt, and promptly murder opposing caster.

If your building this list with assassination first in mind I would suggest a Seraph to help project further threat ranges and and charge angles for your warbeasts. It would also help with ensuring you hit the scourge/headbutt. The most immediate swap would be for the Angelius.

There is a really good article by Lanz here that goes into a lot of depth on Thags 2: lormahordes.freeforums.net/thread/432/thagrosh2-primer-on-messiahThe last post on there is an explanation of my personal list for him which is a little bit on the odd side. I personally don't like hellmouths with Thags2. Many other people will disagree with me, and neither opinion is wrong, but for me if you aren't making use of Thagrosh's huge personal presence its kind of like playing a bunch of points down. For me this means that I usually want Thags hanging around about the same place that the Hellmouth is deployed and then it just gets in the way. I am also not a huge fan of Angelii with him, but then I never seem to get huge mileage out of them anyways so that is probably a failure of me as a player rather then them being a bad choice. The biggest omissions IMHO are either a Nephelim protector or a Seraph, you either want the threat extension or the defensive benefit on Thagrosh, a succubus is always a good choice as a cloud over Thags head really helps him stay alive and you should be upkeeping Dragon's blood on Typhon every turn. Typhon and 2 Raeks is absolutely solid on him. I really like just randomly measuring a 28" control range on Raeks for no real reason other than to get in my opponent's heads.

Yeah, I call myself trying to study the Primer before making the list, I guess the armor piercing tail got me excited! Only played once with it so far, and while it was fun, Angel didn't kill his target and was swiftly brushed off the table. So swap him for Seraph, get flares going for extra hitting, and possibly Succubus? Maybe drop a Shepherd for her?

I would go the succubus route myself, it gives Thagrosh an extra fury for safety while you upkeep Dragons Blood. Also the on demand cloud should help him against ranged attacks, a weakness I often find with him.

I'll second the suggestions about the Angelious. In many ways Manifest Destiny likes quantity of attacks over quality of attacks. And it's attack on feat turn is sad comparable to a Shredder.
I've also found double Hellmouths a bit of a waste. Though 1 piece of tech the Hellmouths base to base can make a nice wall of sorts that Thags can safely apply Manifest Destiny from and block line of sight to him from just about anywhere.

Double Hellmouth also gives access to a weird, renewable cloud wall with a succubus, tentacles killed with rapture produce clouds, and u get 9" of coverage. Not great, but gives thags some game vs ranged lists that cant see thru clouds.
