I was wondering if Mad Dogs might have a place again? Not the full on Spam, but one or two. I'm reasonably sure they're still generally bad, but you almost get two for the cost of a Kodiak these days, and a 9" boosted attack roll trample would actually do a fair amount against DEF12 banes and DEF14 Satyxis, and in theory you could use RtW to get good positioning.
If not, they're just cheap things that are still threatening under Karchev's feat, so you could use them to start piece trading.
Another thing that's worth considering is that Black Industries is not just Gaspy3 Slayer Spam. Karchev might be an excellent drop into the also PITA Denny2 BI matchup where you can use your feat to counter hers.

I don't actually remember where Mad Dogs ended up. But they still have to pay 1 focus to gain +2 SPD and can't Trample for free right?
So the issue is that it costs 2 focus for them to Trample and then possibly explode... I mean that could be useful I guess, feat would still give boosted damage rolls I think (Trample counts as melee, though wouldn't be magical because you don't hit with the weapon). Should probably not be totally discounted, but I think their rules still really suck even at 8 points...

Focus for +2 SPD, but it still has Smasher so it Tramples for free and gets and extra die on the attack rolls. No extra focus needed.
You are correct about the Feat. Shame it's not magical, but yay for extra damage. Not sure it's worth marshalling, even though Crush and Strike True both work on the Tramples. You'd still need the focus for Fleet, and you wouldn't get magical attacks on the tramples from Dark Sigils, same as the feat.

Ah, the free trample makes it slightly better. But yeah, no way of getting magical tramples, pretty sure all the things we have say: 'weapons' become magical?
The question is, does having Crush do more than getting good positioning with Road to War? It would be situational obviously, but I'm thinking Road to War probably works out better most of the time...
