Ever since PowerUp happened for warmachine, 25 point games seem to be an impossible task for trolls. I would like to see what the kriels can come up with that can compete with lists such as: conflictchamber.com/#c4200p_-0UbYe-e-1v1v1v1v2oCryx Army - 24 / 25 points [Theme] Black Industries [Asphyxious 3] Asphyxious the Hellbringer - Shrike - Shrike - Slayer - Slayer - Slayer - Slayer Scrap Thralls To further make it more difficult is that our meta loves to play under deathclock so 30min limit in 25 and a LOS blocking obstructing the center of the table.

Honestly I think it would be quite hard for Trolls to play a 25 point list as they need a fair amount of support to gain synergies and stats that other factions models have base.
The cheapest troll heavy is the Earthborn which comes in at 14 points meaning that you will likely be outnumbered by heavies.
Spamming lights is potentially an option but our combat lights still only come in at P+S 14 unless you spam Slag Trolls which can be decent against warmachine but will struggle into hordes.

I think we have some janks with Doomshaper 2 and 3 as well as Borka2 such as this.
Theme: The Power of Dhunia
Borka, Vengeance of the Rimeshaws - WB: +27 - Trollkin Runebearer - PC: 0 - Rök - PC: 19 - Dire Troll Brawler - PC: 16 - Dire Troll Brawler - PC: 16
Troll Whelps - 5 Whelps: 0 Swamp Gobber Chef - PC: 1
Between his tilting feat, the brawlers retaliatory strike and retaliatory strike on Borka2s mount auto Knockdown, whelp spawning with stumbling drunk. All these pieces are Trolly to remove.

Now that I have had some time to consider the options, I believe that spamming infanfry could be the best way to go. I would consider something along these lines:
Trollblood - 25 - Madrak2
Theme: Band of Heroes
Madrak Ironhide, World Ender - WB: +28 - Dire Troll Mauler - PC: 15 (Battlegroup Points Used: 15) - Troll Basher - PC: 7 (Battlegroup Points Used: 7) - Troll Basher - PC: 7 (Battlegroup Points Used: 6)
Fell Caller Hero - PC: 0
Kriel Warriors - Leader & 9 Grunts: 11 Kriel Warriors - Leader & 9 Grunts: 11 Swamp Gobber Bellows Crew - Leader & 1 Grunt: 2
Basically you can't compete on even terms with heavies so don't bother trying. Instead you can spam weapon master infantry and still have room for a Mauler and two Bashers which can reach POW17 with Rage which is quite decent.

War Room Army
Theme: Band of Heroes 1 / 1 Free Cards 24 / 25 Army
Madrak Ironhide, Thornwood Chieftain - WB: +29 - Dire Troll Brawler - PC: 16 (Battlegroup Points Used: 16) - Dire Troll Mauler - PC: 15 (Battlegroup Points Used: 13)
Trollkin Champions - Leader & 4 Grunts: 16 Krielstone Bearer & Stone Scribes - Leader & 3 Grunts: 6 - Stone Scribe Elder - PC: 0
This would be my suggestion. With stone your champions become mini-lights with armor 18 and Madrak1 feat helps with attrition. You could also run a Doomy2 light spam list and feat for that long alpha. Hopefully you'll be able to cripple some Slayer systems.

Something like this for Doomy2:
Theme: The Power of Dhunia 2 / 2 Free Cards 24 / 25 Army
Hoarluk Doomshaper, Rage of Dhunia - WB: +27 - Mulg the Ancient - PC: 22 (Battlegroup Points Used: 22) - Dire Troll Mauler - PC: 15 (Battlegroup Points Used: 5) - Troll Basher - PC: 7 - Troll Basher - PC: 7
Janissa Stonetide - PC: 0 Troll Whelps - 5 Whelps: 0

I think it is kind of important to realize that the game is simply not balanced at 25 points. There are builds there that can be VERY hard to deal with. Instead of trying to solve the game at that point level it might be wiser to take the beating, learn your lessons and expand to 75 points (where the game is actually balanced) as soon as you can.

The game is balanced around 75 points, not 25 points. Also some Feats become almost unstoppable at anything lower than 75 points as you will have less models and therefore there is less you can do to counter them meaning that some feats and lists will be almost impossible to deal with.

Goreshade 1 comes to mind. "yes, id love to have an extra 10 points in this 25 point game. Thanks you!"

Well a slayer for 10 points is a bit ridiculous. Maybe to compensate our heavies should get a rule stating "When a spiral is full a whelp may be placed within 1 inch" So you get max 2 whelps, and stay alive, or three and die.

Borka2 feat with some champs and a few good lights should be a good list to mitigate the enemy alpha. Then next turn they really pay for that with stationary model being hit with weapon masters and raged beasts.

True, but sanguine bond and them freezing after one hit will help with survival

yeah. just run in the slayers and kill most if not all of the unit and take the retalliation in the face. my guess is the cryx player will come out on top.
Maybe using kolgrima with clouds and play cat and mouse ?
