Hey everyone, nice to meet you! I played Khador in Mk1, now I'm coming back and thought I'd post a fun little thread! Rank your favorite warcasters and briefly go over why you picked who you did (Spike reasons, Johnny reasons, Timmy reasons, whatever)! Honorable mentions allowed! Mine goes like this right now:
Armored Corps 1. Sorscha3 2. Vlad2 3. Irusk2 Honorable Mentions: Butcher1, Irusk1, Malakov2, Sorscha1, Vlad3
Jaws of the Wolf 1. Vlad1 2. Harkevich1 3. Butcher23 Honorable Mentions: Karchev1
Legion of Steel 1. Vlad3 2. Kozlov1 3. Strakhov2 Honorable Mentions: Irusk1, Irusk2, Zerkova1
Winter Guard Command 1. Butcher1 2. Sorscha2 3. Irusk2 Honorable Mentions: Irusk1, Strakhov2
Wolves of Winter 1. Zerkova2 2. Butcher2 3. Vlad1 Honorable Mentions: None
I'm a bit of a Johnny so theme considerations count pretty heavily for me but I tried to mostly stick to power level for my picks. I also tried to go for Warcasters that are especially good with certain Theme Forces rather than warcasters that are just good in general with anything. And I'm probably biased towards 'casters I know better. What do you think?

You're clearly biased, puting Butcher2 anywhere on that list is clear indication of that As for my personal take on this: Armored Corps 1- Vlad2 2- Zerkova1 3- Strakhov2 This is comming mostly from theorymachine, since I haven't really played armored corps yet, I'm waiting for the new models to come out to include it in my pairing. Jaws of the wolf 1-Strakhov1 2-I don't care 3-I care even less I hate Jaws of the wolf with the passion of a thousand burning suns. Strakhov1 is the only one that managed to get me excited about playing jaws, I don't care about the rest. Legion of Steel 1- Strakhov2 2- Irusk1 3- Zerkova1 I've tried OW2 here and didn't like it. Strakhov2 can put a lot of scenario pressure, Irusk1 has nice battleplans, Zerkova1 help deliver the pikemen. Winter Guard Command 1- Butcher3 2- Old Witch2 3- Vlad1 If you read a bit of the stuff I post here, you all know I really like B3 in winterguard kommand. Old Witch2 can build a good anti-shooting list in this theme too. Can take ayana & holt and deal relatively well with incorporeal. Wolves of Winter 1-Vlad2 2-Zerkova2 3-Are we even going to try? Vlad2 can build a very good anti cryx and grymkin list here, Zerkova2 is supper gimmicky, but it can be fun to run her if you don't take yourself too seriously and want all your game to be over by the end of turn 2. I'm really not sold on any other caster with her. That's about it for me.

ARMOURED KORPS 1. Butcher1 2. Strakhov2 3. Irusk1
JAWS OF THE WOLF 1. Karchev 2. Strakhov1 3. Irusk2
LEGION OF STEEL 1. Strakhov2 2. Zerkova1 3. Irusk2
WINTERGUARD KOMMAND 1. Vlad1 2. Irusk2 3. Sorcha1
WOLVES OF WINTER Sadly I do not have the models to run this list but I did proxy a Strakhov1 double Outrider list that was fun. So all theory but here goes 1. Strakhov1 2. Vlad2 3. Zerkova1 or Sorcha1

1. Sorscha3 2. Vlad2 3. Irusk2 Honorable Mentions: Butcher1, Irusk1, Malakov2, Sorscha1, Vlad3 (EIther in top 3 or DEFINITELY honorable mention Strak2. ARM 26 is a thing)Jaws of the Wolf
1. Vlad1 2. Harkevich1 3. Butcher2 Honorable Mentions: Karchev1 (Strakov1 has great game with Jaws if you put the time in to learn overrun tricks)Legion of Steel
1. Vlad3 2. Kozlov1 3. Strakhov2 Honorable Mentions: Irusk1, Irusk2, Zerkova1 Winter Guard Command
1. Butcher1 2. Sorscha2 3. Irusk2 Honorable Mentions: Irusk1, Strakhov2 (Old Witch 2 LOVES WGK. Allows her to play much more aggressively. Ditto B3 who loves Sac Pawn)Wolves of Winter
1. Zerkova2 2. Butcher2 3. Vlad1 Honorable Mentions: None (Vlad 2 CAN run this. Feating on Doomies is a thing and it is nice to be able to get out all his upkeeps for free)I'm a bit of a Johnny so theme considerations count pretty heavily for me but I tried to mostly stick to power level for my picks. Alright! Who wants the best (only) Khador player in Wales' opinion! I know you all do!
Themes
WGK 1. Vlad1 - He ups the ante on this list and takes it to the max. Having such a large area to bump up their stats to the point where they can actually hit, along with the threat of sending a warjack 15 inches up the board and into your face. Vlad makes the WGK very offensive.
2. OW2 - Plays a different type of list. As she is so adaptable she can use the list to cause all sorts of mayhem. Windstorm helps keep them alive, and she has rather easy access to Blind and Knockdown. As well as making Rockets an effective POW14.
3. Irusk2 - Our premier Infantry man can run a version of this list known as 'Stalingrad' you bring Irusk and you bring bodies, lots of bodies. A large tough, no blast and no knockdown bubble keeps them moving and allows Joe to give out hit boosts without relying on his tough ability. And if the enemy get to close, bears Strength and Battle Lust make the Winter Guard hit as hard as Doom Reavers.
LoS 1. Irusk2 - Hello again Supreme Kommandant! Similar reasons as above, Irusk ups the ante to the max. Battle lusted Iron Fangs kill anything this side of colossals. No Knockdown on your counter charges and his massive bubble buffs.
2. Strakhov2 - He makes the Iron Fangs hard to kill. Very hard to kill. ARM21 basic on feat turn if they are in shield wall. With his own Armour buff and the Black Dragons mini-buff, Strakhov can put things in zones and dare you to try and kill them.
3. Zerkova1 - A different choice, but a good one. A large cloud wall means that you can hide your counter charges through this wall. And should a model get through they will take a weaponmaster to the face or probably get knocked down. Ghostly on command and a Feat that is crippling, Zerkova plays a different, but good, LoS
JotW 1. Hark1 - The tank man is still the best man in which to run the Jaws. However recent changes have made this list far less effective than it used to be, and as such the casters who prefer it will suffer. However Hark loves Kodiaks, and they haven't changed at all.
2. Strakhov1 - Strakhov takes the book on how to play khador and proceeds to set it on fire and pee on it. His jacks are super fast, and he makes sure they get where they need to go. When Jacks can literally get from a zone to the other side of the board in the same turn, you know its special.
3. Karchev1 - Karchev runs this theme as well as he can. But the changes have really bothered him and have knocked him down a peg or two. However, Juggernauts are a force to be reckoned with under Karchev. It's a shame about what happened.
WoW 1. Vlad2 - Vlad2 is a special sort of person, and he helps doom reavers out by making them go absolutely nuts. They can threat 17 inches under Vlad2, and be MAT10 and can boost hit rolls. And he helps out Outriders by buffing their magic 6 ability with his hand of fate. When you bring in his feat, things get nasty fasty.
2. OW2 - Doom Reavers hate to be shot at, at the Witch has just the spell to help them out. Windstorm keeps them alive on the way in, and with the ability to knock things down and make them hit harder without casting them with a spell, OW2 really helps you get mileage out of this list.
3. Zerkova1 - It's a toss up between normal or epic Zerkova, but the normal one wins it for me due to the fact that she has variety in her match ups. Again, cloud wall keeps them alive, which is good. And Zerkova herself can let Outriders do silly things like walk through buildings.
AC 1. Vlad2 - He is so good and AC is basically a second home for Vladimir. Feated Drakhuns are some of the nastiest things in the game, and then you have to try and kill them on the counter. pow12 or less need not apply. Under feat, good luck trying to get those shocktroopers out of that zone.
2. Irusk2 - He's back again. With built in pathfinder and tough, he's still great. Battle Lust is just cash money. And doing silly things like FFE on supression tankers will kill whole units of heavy infantry.
3. OW2 - And shes back once more, playing a different style of AC, fill her up with Bombardiers and you have one of the best shooting lists around. Effective pow16 people, and thats before you bring in any external help.
Theme Ranking! 1. AC - It's so adaptable at the moment, and plus bonus credits for actually being able to run man o war after all these years. However you need to pick your support carefully, you can't have a Victor, Aiyana and Holt, double Drakhuns and Atanas in every list.
2. WGK - It's a simple theme, but it works well. Can also be used with casters who like jack heavy battle groups like B3 to play a different style of game. Everybody likes Sac Pawn too.
3. LoS - This theme is really upset by a lack of merc units, but its fast and powerful. Also suffers as the only ranged attacks will come from your battle group. Also, stay away from Incorporeal.
4. WoW - This is only half a theme at the moment and the Greylord and Doom Reaver sides do not mingle very well at all. Everything in the list is expensive and kind of fragile. And it really wants to get first turn too. But the theme benefits are brilliant.
5. JotW - Oh how the mighty have fallen. The theme benefts basically come down to 'you can take Behemoth if you wish' as ambush doesn't bother 90% of lists, and kossites are just poor. The Kayazy are good, but the casters who like this theme can struggle to put them to use.

There is some wriggle room for how the themes are actually played. So it's not really as simple as there being a top 3.
But the answer in all cases is Old Witch 2.

The unclear thing here is: Do you mean right now in the meta? Or generally asking the most questions? I will go with the meta idea.
AC: 1. Vlad2 2. Irusk2 3. Sorscha3 There are a lot more, but these provied relevant answers (bias towards Sorscha3, could be OW2)
Jaws: 1. Karchev 2. Harkevich 3. Strakov1 I am pretty neutral about Jaws, OW2 and B3 can run it too, but I am not exited about the theme.
WGK: 1. OW2 2. Vlad1 3. Sorscha1 I prefer OW2s utility over Vlad1s numbers but that may be a personal choice. I don't think any other caster comes close, but there are fun builds like Irusk2s Stalingrad
Legion of Steel: 1. Irusk2 2. Zerkova1 3. Strakov2 Only reason OW2 isn't in here is because I haven't tested her enough. Irusk and Zerkova are a toss up.
WoW: 1. Vlad2 2. OW2 3. Zerkova1 Dmg over delivery, but delivery is worth something.
Generally confused about the lack of OW2 in the lists, but everyone has their favourite caster

She's far and away our best warcaster. Shame about the $125 buy-in...

She's far and away our best warcaster. Shame about the $125 buy-in... Then you have to paint it worthy of its cost. At least you'd be on your way to starting Grymkin.
