Hello,
This is not my list but I have come to love it. It's made by John (who plays every now and then on Arcane Assist).
It looks very similar to a Madrak 1 list but it has some nuances that make the game play feel completely different.
Calandra - Cast bullet dodger on herself and Earth's blessing. You become super hard to kill.
Befuddle - Amazing control spell. Just walk a heavy out of a zone or turn it around.
Misfortune - Knockdown comes in handy.
Starcrossed - skews dice that makes combinations of rolls matter (1+5 vs 3+3 to hit a 6). This at 18" is significant!
Fate Blessed/Good Omens - Swings the counter punch significantly. Especially if you're charging with champs, you are rolling 4 dice. Now rerolling the 1s and 2s on feat swing dice like crazy. Even just straight spending fury to reroll attack/damage rolls makes those key activations easier to make happen.

A year ago I was running her with double champs in a meat mountain. My list was something like this and I enjoyed this list quite a lot although it was pretty slow. Now that champs are better and SotN is out to make Champs faster I might give it another try. conflictchamber.com/#c7201b_-0a5a9D0h0ijq6G6M6M0l0miTbKiTcCcATrollbloods Army - 75 / 75 points [Theme] Band of Heroes (Calandra 1) Calandra Truthsayer, Oracle of the Glimmerwood [+27] - Dire Troll Mauler [15] - Troll Axer [10] - Troll Impaler [11] - Trollkin Runebearer [0(5)] Fell Caller Hero [0(5)] Stone Scribe Chronicler [0(4)] Stone Scribe Chronicler [4] Krielstone Bearer & Stone Scribes (max) [9] - Stone Scribe Elder [3] Trollkin Champions (max) [16] - Skaldi Bonehammer [5] Trollkin Champions (max) [16] - Trollkin Sorcerer (1) [3] Trollkin Warders (min) [10]

This is yet another thing that I meant to revisit after the CID changes and Northkin releases, but I had theorized that she could be tweaked for models that have both DEF > 12 and ways to Roll Moar Dice like weapon master. That way she is getting more mileage out of not only Star-Crossed but also her feat. conflictchamber.com/#c7201b_-0G5a0rjojq6G2QfJj20li-iZiZezez2NiTbKTrollbloods Army - 75 / 75 points [Theme] Storm of the North (Calandra 1) Calandra Truthsayer, Oracle of the Glimmerwood [+27] - Dire Troll Bomber [19] - Pyre Troll [8] - Trollkin Runebearer [0(5)] Fell Caller Hero [0(5)] Feralgeist [2] Northkin Shaman [4] Valka Curseborn, Chieftain of the North [0(6)] Krielstone Bearer & Stone Scribes (max) [9] - Northkin Elder [3] Northkin Bear Handle & Battle Bears [10] Northkin Bear Handle & Battle Bears [10] Northkin Fire Eaters [7] Northkin Fire Eaters [7] Swamp Gobbers Bellows Crew [2] Trollkin Champions (max) [16] - Skaldi Bonehammer [5] The Bears don't have the higher DEF but they do have plenty of attacks and her feat will help keep them from missing. She can probably catch them in it even if they Ambush. I originally had Raiders and a Champ Hero there, but it's hard to top the bears.

Imo, calandra shouldnt ever cast Bullet Dodger on herself. She can stay far enough back and be hard enough to kill without it (especially in BoH where Warders are available). Try casting it on a EBDT or a Bouncer. A 9 point Bouncer (especially if whelps are available and against a living model) will take more effort to down than most huge bases. It is batshit insane. If you find water with your EBDT... I have lived that dream. It is just as glorious as you think it is

Imo, calandra shouldnt ever cast Bullet Dodger on herself. I'm finding it useful late game. Early game, definitely put it on a beast, but later on when you're ahead in the piece trade it goes much more tempting for your opponent to try the Hail Mary assassination attempt, and making that even more difficult is a good idea.

to piggy back off Trollock's comment, Calandra is one of the rare times I like the impaller since you can toss bullet dodger on him up front and he can be def 16 against charges under starcrossed and with dodge. Place him just at threat and you can sometimes bait a foolhardy charge from your opponent and if not you can toss rage on him to do work and trigger charge of trolls.

Calandra and madrak1 now revolve around the same basic game plan of defense stacking. Calandra has a better toolbox, but I think Madrak has a better feat. As you said, the list is slow, so Madrak ability to stop your opponents alpha is really useful. Calandra feat is really really good, but trolls usually hit hard enough in melee that they don’t need it. I thought no there’s a krill company list out there for calandra, but I don’t know if I’ll get a chance to try it. It seems like on the whole people are more into Madrak these days, but he is the new hotness, maybe after that calms down people will turn to calandra Also Trollock I think the time it’s useful to put bullet dodger on calandra is when you’re playing into a shooting list and you want to get her way up to make star crossed effect your opponents ranged attacks.

I found putting bullet dodger on Calandra is useful bc I like to play her pretty far forward. With BD and EB and usually sitting on 3-4 focus, I feel confident that I will be able to press the ridiculous star-crossed range while staying alive

It's probably more funny than good, but if you put bullet dodger on Valka they are punished for hitting him and for missing him. The only safe move is to engage him and ignore him, which is not at all safe.

I think the reson that Calandra has dropoed by the wayside is that Madrak1 just runs infantry better. Tactician, Guided Hand and Even Ground are just a bit better than what Calandra offers to infantry which is mostly some re-rolls and Star Crossed of which Even Ground is just better. She also doesn't ask or answer and major questions, Madrak1 does. I think if unit options opened up for POD then she might see more play. But as it is POD does not see much play competitively at the moment. Also playing Calandra into a shooting list is probably a bad idea. She is super squishy even with Bullet Dodger on herself and does practically nothing to protect her forces from guns apart from Star Crossed which will be hard to pull off even with an 18" control range.

I get your point, but if you are up against lots of shooting, it is probably not safe to have calandra up there with or without BD
