I feel like with all the new changes that Cal has taken a bit of a backseat. I'm working on trying to come up with a masters pairing and having a heck of a time because I love so many of our current options. I'm fairly certain I want a Madrak 2 infantry list as one of the two and was thinking about this for the second:
Calandra +27 (POD) -Runebearer 5(0) -Mauler 15 -Mulg 22 -Night Troll 7 -Axer 10 -Axer 10 -Basher 7 -Bouncer 9 -Storm Troll 9 Lanyssa 4 Janissa 4(0) Northkin Shaman 4(0) Min Krielstone 6 -SSE 3
The idea being to spam cheap lights that can hit fairly hard when buffed up. I'm torn between Lanyssa and the Mist Speaker to give me some action into cloud walls. What do you guys think?

IM wondering if the axers might be better off as different lights. My thought is if you’re building a list dependent on rage to buff up the lights, they can’t get rush, and you can channel befuddles through mulg at things to get extra threat, so maybe you don’t need the axers. You could use more bashers or even slag trolls instead.

I agree that 2 seems redundant but I think one is definitely worth having access to rush as our beasts often need pathfinder and just the option for 2 extra inches of threat changes how your opponent will play against you.

I had the Axers in actually for thresher and dealing with infantry if I had to. I also have two and don't have extra bashers YET. Personally I almost like night trolls over bashers because they get 3 initials, two open fists, have eyeless sight, and maneater(charge warriors for free). Plus their animus could pull people out of places and provide more threat. Just too many good choices at this point.

Fwiw, here was my idea for a calandra, if I ever actually get around to it:
War Room Army
Trollblood - Calandra
Theme: The Power of Dhunia 3 / 3 Free Cards 75 / 75 Army
Calandra Truthsayer, Oracle of the Glimmerwood - WB: +27 - Trollkin Runebearer - PC: 0 - Mulg the Ancient - PC: 22 (Battlegroup Points Used: 22) - Dire Troll Bomber - PC: 19 (Battlegroup Points Used: 5) - Dire Troll Bomber - PC: 19 - Dire Troll Mauler - PC: 15
Troll Whelps - 5 Whelps: 0 Janissa Stonetide - PC: 0 Feralgeist - PC: 2
Krielstone Bearer & Stone Scribes - Leader & 3 Grunts: 6 - Stone Scribe Elder - PC: 3 Croak Raiders - Leader & 9 Grunts: 16
The idea is pretty simple: channel befuddles through mulg to pull up heavies, then blow them up with the bombers, always keeping the feat/misfortune assassination threat in mind.
This is a totally different list than you were looking at, but I thought i’d mention it.

Im not sold on the light spam with Calandra. She doesnt make them hit hard enough for any one to really care. If you want light spam, id go with Grissel 1. My favorite thing with Calandra is Bullet Dodger on an earthborn (though your Bouncer will work fine too). It is already hard to kill, but dodge and DEF 14 makes it bananas for real. If you find Water or an obstruction/obstacle it is functionally unkillable.
The axer as an anti infantry tool is also not my favorite. MAT 6 is on the low side, so if you do not have a hit buff, it is likely that you will boost to hit with the attacks you want to hit. A Night troll does virtually the same job but is 30% cheaper.
Over all i would like a little more bite to the list i think. Maybe 3-4 heavies and as many lights you can fit. 2 heavies seem a bit low to me. Trading the Storm Troll and one of the Axers for a Bomber Allows you to soften a target up with shooting, and then it is possible that a light can finish it off... Bombers really like Befuddled targets since effective RAT 7 allows them to hit without boosting, and then they can boost both damage rolls instead. Boosted POW 16s hurts basically anything.

I prefer Calandra with 4 heavies, 2 of which are earthborns. I don't really like her with lights anymore.

I think calandra works fine with lights. I mean she works fine with everything. Soothing song is still as good as it was in mk 2, and her feat gives anything a big damage buff. It’s particularly good with slag trolls. I just have a bias towards heavies, but if you want to do the light spam thing she can make it work.

Bullet dodger Earthborns are sooooo amazing.
But yeah... Calandra’s abilities get better and better with extra dice. So 3 dice to hit models (fire Eaters, War Wagon, Longriders), weapon masters (champs, WM solos, slags vs constructs) and things with multiple attacks (sprays in particular) get more dice manipulation benefit than things rolling only 2 dice to hit and damage.

Lol I was afraid this would be the feedback. Not because I think anyone is wrong, I just want confirmation it can work. Lol guess I'll just have to try it and prove it out myself! ;-)
New list after some feedback: Cal -Runebearer -2x Basher -2x Night Troll -Bouncer -Axer -Mauler -Mulg Knot Max Stone -SSE Janissa Whelps
Reasons I like it the way it is and don't want to add more heavies: 1. Personally the bomber never works for me. The AOEs always drift where I don't want and 12 inch threat just isn't enough on the gun. Once he's engaged you have to pour buffs into him to make him worth anything. 2. I want more bodies that can spread out. Cal is Fury 8(over Grissel1). I want expendable models. 3. I have run double earthborns and they are great with her but they are boring. 4. Night trolls are cheap and expendable and can help deal with cloud walls. Their animus can add to threat ranges along with befuddled. 5. Bashers can help with the to hit problem with their animi and their crit stagger can help reduce the effectiveness of heavies. Fate blessed, puppet master and her feat make it more likely to get those crits plus they can hit at pow 18 when needed. 6. I wish I could fit in a couple slags but they are sooo expensive and they don't really have an animus.
